"We had a great night at Shalel. The ambiance was cozy, rustic, and genuine. The hostess was kind to accommodate our tardiness to our reservation and Jamie was an excellent waitress who gave us great recommendations in navigating the menu. A party of 2, we ordered two appetizers, the cauliflower and the mushrooms, and two entrees—the chicken tagine and the chicken kebab. The appetizers were the star of the show for me, both bursting with flavor. The entrees were good, but left a little to be des … – show"

Intimate setting that is unlike that of any restaurant I’ve been to in NYC. Spinach pies were 10/10.

Beautifully lit and decorated, wonderful place for a date night. Tapas were delicious but quite expensive for the size. Recommend for the experience alone. View menu

Food was tasty. Seats in booth were basically benches that provided no lumbar door and were uncomfortable. Service was leisurely. Server brought out dishes in random order, not by the courses we wanted.

I absolutely loved this place. The staff was amazing, the location was terrific. Perfect date night spot if you want to really impress someone. Low lighting, quieted ambience, perfect for an intimate night. PS — order the squid. Our waitress told us it was so good that it would make us cry. I honestly haven’t stopped thinking about it since.

Came here a year ago. Requested a particular table. Spoke to manager about it. When I arrived the table was “not available” even though no one was sitting there. When I started to ask questions the host told me I was free to leave. (Lol). Wait staff was not competent. Restaurant was empty. Had been here many times previously, but won’t go back. View menu

Had eggplant croquettes and a glass of wine at the bar. This was my first time there. It's very lovely from what I could see. Very dark, private, romantic. Each area looked different, like caves, I think I even saw a “waterfall”? Wished I could've seen the whole location. Restaurant seemed to be fully booked, that's a good sign. Staff were very polite.

Empty tables but we were told we couldn't be seated. No beer list. Hostess was busy and confused. Tried to order drinks while waiting for a table, hostess couldn't manage. Basically through incompetence. We left. Went back to try them again. It's been nearly a year. Got seated. Good food. Almost no one was there. I took some pics. Same incompetent female staff was there and told me not to take pictures. Such a rude staff member. A restaurant should want people taking pics and saying it's cool. … – show
