"The Spiced Pear was one of the best dining experiences we've had, anyplace! The pre-dinner cocktail at the bar was fantastic; try the house signature Spiced Pear Martini, which was great. The bar and the dining room evoke a charming, old-world mansion type dining, which you would expect in Newport. Service was attentive and impeccable, with bartenders and servers in black pants/vest, white shirt, black bowtie. Menu consists of a pre-fixe 3 course meal (which we selected) or a 7 course tasting. All options on both menus were unique; the presentation as well as quality was excellent. Service was choreographed with 2-4 servers for each course, While we didn't do the wine pairings for each course, our server recommended glasses that perfectly complimented our entrees. Not sure this is the type of place you dine out on a weekly basis, but for that special occasion, I would highly recommend the Spiced Pear."

Gorgeous setting, lovely service, great food. On our way out of town we stopped here for breakfast and had a wonderful meal. The setting is just beautiful. We felt like we were guests in a fabulous home versus diners in a restaurant. The food was very good. I would love to go back for dinner.

the cubed pear on the chanler is our popular place in the world. They are treated like a license while they are there and everything from eating to service is spectacular. Whether they go there to experience three curs fine eating or when they go to relax on the veranda, get a spiced pear martini! you will thank me.

I visited again and was a bit disappointed this time. I heard they have a new chef, so I was hoping it would be as good as my last visit. The service was exceptional, but I did wonder why there were so many staff—one welcomed us at our table and then we never saw him again! The amuse bouche was delicious, as was the pork belly starter. However, my chicken breast was overcooked and rather bland. The plating felt quite sparse as well. On the bright side, the location is still breathtaking—definitely enjoy a drink there before or after the race!

large ambience service, good food. elegant environment attracts the newport cliff walk with magnificent sea view and is the highlight of this upscale establishment. the device is perfect, but eating does not rise to the start (or the fierce prices, for this occasion.) while some entrees like the trio of hudson valley hare approach excellent, most others are only good the bar area with its fireplace invites you and the main room is nice for special occasions. watch sitting beside the tent as they find themselves to clean themselves against plastic while looking at empty tables in the nights when the weather is not amenabel to eat...read more View menu

Great Ambience Service, Good Food. Elegant surroundings astride the Newport Cliff Walk, with beautiful ocean views are the highlight of this upscale establishment. The sevice is impeccable, but the food does not quite rise to the occasion (or the hefty prices, for that matter). While some entrees such as the trio of Hudson Valley hare approach excellence, most others are merely good. The bar area with its fireplace is inviting, and the main dining room is nice for special occasions. Be careful about seating adjacent to the tent as you will find yourself brushing up against plastic while overlooking empty tables on nights when the weather isn't amenable to dining al fresco.

Unbeatable experience. First, this place is expensive. Second, it's worth it! This is the real deal as far as restaurants go. Dinner overlooking the water with lights in the background. The restaurant itself receives 5 stars for atmosphere. The service is as good as it gets. I took my wife here for her birthday. It cost $150 person and was worth every penny. My wife stills talks about it. When we got the first dish I thought I was going to have to go out after to eat. But that was not the case. Portions were just right. The quality of the food is superb. My next trip here will be to spend the night. I highly recommend this place for a special occasion. If you have to cut back on going...read...
