"I've been coming to this restaurant for YEARS. Whether it's for birthdays, special occasions, or sushi cravings, this is the place I chose to dine just before the COVID shutdown, ensuring I enjoyed a final meal before everything closed down. Everything on the menu is fantastic— and I truly mean everything. The rolls, nigiri, and hand rolls are all delicious, and my friend raves about the teriyaki chicken plate. My go-to orders include the Fish Attack special roll, the Super Dragon roll, and the Soft Shell Crab roll. Their miso soup is always flavorful, and the edamame is such a delightful appetizer. The staff here is exceptional— they are friendly, attentive, and work seamlessly as a team. Honestly, I can't say a single negative thing about this place. I have an avocado allergy, and they have always accommodated my dietary needs effortlessly, whether I'm dining in or getting takeout. I highly, highly, highly recommend this restaurant!"

Waited outside with three more parties, there was a bell(worked or not, nobody knows). Nobody showed up. Waited for 10 minutes outside, all three parties left. This is a one star well

This is the best salmon skin salad I’ve ever had! The chef’s dressing was perfectly balanced, and the salmon skin was as crispy as bacon. They were incredibly generous with the crispy bits too!

Have been eating here for about 5 years. It is our favorite sushi place in San Diego. Staff is super nice and food is always delicious. Favorites are Catapiller, Spicy Crunch Shrimp, Bomb Bomb, Volcano. Recommend making a reservation.

Very slow service. Sushi guy behind the counter has to call wait staff to serve our food, it's been sitting on the counter for about 5+ minutes. Never checked on us if we need anything else, I was going to ask for more pickled ginger but I said never mind.

This cozy little restaurant is definitely worth a visit, and I recommend making a reservation if you plan to dine in. They also offer convenient takeout with a handy pickup window located on the side of the building. I really appreciate their diverse selection and unique recipes for their rolls. View menu

Nice place with great food. The super salmon sushi is really good, especially with the wasabi in soy sauce. Also their mochi ice cream tastes very good, I liked the mango flavor. Cheapest soft shell crab ever. Chicken teriyaki didn't impress us but we couldn't find anything wrong either, probably should go with sushi.

The restaurant has a clean atmosphere and offers fresh-tasting fish with a wide variety of cut roll options. Prices are reasonable, although the portions are somewhat small, even considering the overall trend of smaller serving sizes in many places since the pandemic. Parking in front is quite limited. The service was quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend it.

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
