"Ramen was Good, Service Not So Much. Setup stopped here for a quick bite on way to Birdland for a show. Stumbled upon it because we were in the mood for Ramen and didn't have a ton of time. Food went with the Tabata Ramen as our choice to split. It was good. The broth was very creamy and tasty, but the rest was just ok. The ramen, chicken, and poached egg were good, but not mind blowing. Value and service didn't help either towards overall experience. Drinks got two Sapporos in a bottle and they bordered on lukewarm. I admit I like Sapporos really cold, but these felt like they'd been in the refrigerator for only a few minutes. Service was not good. Not busy at all and it was a struggle to get much of any help. Had to wait several rounds to get waiters attention for the check. Value $18 for ramen we split. It's NYC and it's fine, but the ramen didn't feel much different then your average ramen chain. Service and atmosphere didn't help much. Overall ramen was fine, but service not so much."

We had a lovely, cosy bowl of ramen here tonight! The service couldn’t have been better and the food was delicious- amazing value for money, definitely recommend.

Unassuming from the outside, the food is amazing. We had shumai, chicken katsu curry and spicy ramen. Amazing flavours. Nice staff too. A good value gem in an expensive city! Check it out!

had a really nice lunch in tabata! that is not an exciting restaurant, but very good food. the staff was attentive, and the restaurant was clean (except there were some gnats that were flying around). for a quick lunch, especially on a cold day, this place is perfect! the broth was definitiw the highlight of the ritter. On a cold day on the winter solstice, a hot bowl of ramen might be called for. The samurai ramen was flavorful with good garlic flavor and a nice umami mouthfeel. I also decided to indulge by ordering a hot sake (be sure to pour the heated bottle with the napkin as on can burn their fingers). It's also close to the Port Authority Bus Terminal which makes it easy to get here.

..ramen for lunch at @tabataramen on 9th Ave (near 40th St. . Got the “Samurai Ramen” that was described as a tonkotsu broth “infused with black garlic paste”! Now..just saying, I !!LOVE!! black garlic oil..and, boy, did Tabata have plenty!! It looked like an oil tanker hit an iceberg and spilled all that deliciousness all over my bowl. Such great rich unctuous flavor, porky but with the funky fermented garlic coating my tongue. Three huge pieces of roasted pork shoulder and a small mountain of green onions, bean sprouts and black ear mushrooms, over a bedrock of solid ramen noodles. So enjoyed my meal and definitely will come back for this!! #talesoftheramenrabbit

"We went to Bread N Wine on a early Saturday afternoon for brunch. We were greeted and seated by the servers who were attentive. The food was okay the bread was really soft and fresh. My partner got the French Lentil Soup, Spinach and Tomato Egg Bake andI got the French onion soup, egg omelette with spicy tomato avocado and onions. I wasn 't happy with my omelette because thespicy just meant it was covered in hot sauce within. For beverages, we got chai lattes (we later found out it wasn 't tea basedbut rather coffee) and we had the option of oat milk, almond milk or regular milk. In terms of our overall experience we feltby the end too many things were steering the experience south; the worst was when we were accused of using counterfeit money topay for the tip. There was no special marker used to prove that the money was counterfeit or technology to back up this claim. That experience alone left a bad taste in our mouth as we left embarrassed by that claim, kind of shook from that, we stilladded the tip to our credit card 18%. As we walked out and talked about how weird that was, the owner of the business nextdoor overheard us and asked to see the $20 bill he showed us that our money was real and validated what we knew, that themoney wasn 't counterfeit. When we went back into Bread N Wine to discuss this there was no apology, just well, it felt thatway , shrug. It left a terrible feeling. We would not go back after that, this is not how you treat customers from start tofinish, hence the 2 star review."
