"I 'm so conflicted. My bf took me here for birthday dinner last year and it was one of the greatest steaks I 've ever had in my life. Today for brunch was overpriced, sub-par, and exceptionally rude service from our main server. My pastrami sandwich was fine, but the pastrami should have been the star and instead it was drowned out by the cheese, slaw, egg and dressing, and the egg was way overcooked. The fried pickles were good, but overkill with the potato salad that had a pickly taste to it already. And btw, the potato salad was good, but I 've had much better. For $24, I expected more from this dish. The duck egg burger was just alright, nothing special, including the fries, but the best dish by far was the shakshouka. The labneh really set it off. However, the egg was supposed to be poached, and for all three people who got this dish, the egg was overcooked and solid instead of runny. Again, I expect the quality to be a lot better at a place like this. For drinks, the green juice was delicious, but my mom, a ****** mary connoisseur, said it wasn 't that good at all, and that was a $16 ****** mary. Finally, when the check came, I noticed they charged us for water, and with three bottles at $9 each, I had to say something. For a drink that 's supposed to be free be $27, that definitely should have been communicated to us. I nicely told the server that and she replied with the rudest, nastiest, ok, what do you want me to do about it? attitude. She returned with the water taken off, but the attitude that came with it was completely uncalled for. It 's a shame that the brunch experience was nowhere near the quality of the dinner experience a couple years ago. For that, I 'm not sure that I can return without heavy convincing from trusted sources that it 's safe to go to again."

Make sure you get dressed up for this place! A very nice place! When i first arrived the service was a tad bit slow, because we had multiple servers but they quickly recovered by giving us free wine. The food was very very very good! My stake was cooked perfectly and my appetizer (which was mozzarella with peaches) was extremely good! I ten/ten recommend this place. after your dinner, you can walk down to the Potomac river which is so peaceful. (it's about a 3 min walk)

Beautiful restaurant overlooking the C&O canal. The tables provided an intimate setting with dim light and white table cloths. The staff was very professional and welcoming. The food was tasty and although it was a bit pricey, the portions and flavor more than justified the price. We really enjoyed our entrees (veal chop and filet mignon). The appetizers brussels sprouts and potatoes could have been better. One thing worth checking out is the bar, which had a great selection of whiskey, comfortable leather chairs, a fireplace, and delicious cocktails.

I started with the pea and celtuce soup. The waiter said it was popular and very good. And he was right. It was thick but not too thick and a beautiful vibrant green color. I felt healthier after eating it! Then I had the half Amish chicken. I think that chicken was on steroids because I got three meals out of it between that night and leftovers- lol! It was so tasty. The mushrooms and other flavoring complimented it perfectly. I tasted the burrata and halibut and they were both just as delicious. The atmosphere was formal with white cloth tablecloths. We were there freakishly early because we had tickets to a Kennedy Center performance afterward. They were respectful of our time. I would hi...

So, The Grill Room is really, really pretty. The service is really, really good (and fancy) and really, really expensive, too. Too bad the food just isn't really, really delicious. I got to sit in the big private dining room, which would have been perfect for a formal business dinner or something, but it just didn't quite work for a family meal. It was very brightly lit and very cold, which made things slightly unpleasant. We all ordered something different and while our plates were all very beautiful and properly prepared, they just were not anything *special*. The drinks are great (but expensive), the wine list is enormous (there is truly something for everyone), and the service really is... View menu

I have no idea how I could have lived here for so many years and not known about this place. What a lovely restaurant! Yes it is a little pricey but it is arguably one of the better Georgetown restaurants. I was fortunate to be seated outdoors with a magnificent view of the canal. It was a wonderful spring day but I appreciated that there were blankets at the back of the seats in case it got cold. The set up was very romantic and relaxing in the best way. Now on to the food! Wow! I am still dreaming of the gnocchi appetizer. I am a fish lover and the other food appetizers and entree dishes I ate, octopus and Cobia, were superb. My table couldn't come to consensus which meal was best! The des...

The Grill Room is an upscale hotel restaurant. The food is pricey, but you can expect that from hotel dining (especially the Capella hotel group). Chef Frank Ruta is doing an amazing job with the menus. Our server Lester made this one of the best experiences for Sunday brunch. He had a great personality and went out of his way to accommodate our group of 3. We were seated on the patio overlooking the C O Canal. Grill room salad $13: They were nice enough to split the salad into two portions for us. The shaved beets and radish were excellent. Salmon poached egg $22: Small portion, but perfectly cooked and tasty Grill Room Burger: TRUFFLE CHEESE. That's all you need to know in life. Lemon Made...

Cyndy's Bottom Line: Enjoyed the ambiance and the burger! Went to The Grill Room especially for the burger. I remember the delicious burger at Palena and wanted one! It is delightful that Frank Ruta is recreating his dishes here. I love the ambiance and the interior decor. The french doors open to the outside seating area which has a scenic view of the canal and the beautiful trees the line the canal. This is what we ate/drank: ****** Mary a very good tasting ****** nicely composed with a good amount of spiciness, yummy olives and a lime wedge. Rye Limeade a smooth and tasty drink. Be careful it goes down so good! The Grill Room Burger Angus beef, house made bun and mayonnaise, and truffle c... View menu

I'd say 3.5 stars for this place. I'm not going to lie, it's a very aesthetically pleasing restaurant. The bathroom was also gorgeous. For appetizers we had the Kumamoto oysters from Washington. They were super fresh and slightly briny. They tasted just like the sea and although they were enjoyed, I did not enjoy biting down on the hard pieces of shell left in the oyster as they weren't shucked perfectly. We also had the squid ink and lobster roe pasta. This was a delightful dish and my girl friend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. For my main entree I had the salmon and my GF had the oven roasted chicken. We were told that the chicken would take 40 minutes to prepare and since we were in no rush...

My love for the Capella Hotel and Rye Bar brought me to the Grill Room for brunch on a brisk and cloudy winter's day. Can I just say that Capella can do no wrong? From artisanal cocktails to locally sourced cuisine, their entire program is A plus. The dining room is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Floor to ceiling windows, French doors, al fresco C&O Canal tables. Everything looks like it belongs in a home decor magazine. I love the semi-private dining room too. Enclosed on 3 sides by frosty glass and white bookshelves filled with trinkets like vases, decanters, glasses, and books, the room has a long table meant for 10 with plush armchairs, beautiful place settings, delightful flower arrangem...

"I typically always forget to write google reviews but this place deserves every word I have to say. I found this spot because the luggage storage app, bounce, sent me here to hold my bags while I toured apartments for the day. Before I left my bags, I decided to try a quiche which was so much better than expected. Growing up in my father's deli, I tend to have high standards for most food because I can usually recognize good ingredients so safe to say I was definitely pleasantly surprised with my quiche. Around mid-day I fell walking around in NoMa and severely hurt my knee. Rather than continuing my tours for the day I decided to come back to pick up my bags and potentially go to the airport to arrive early for my flight. When I got to Old City Market and Oven, they actually gave me ice for my knee and let me sit downstairs uninterrupted. While I was downstairs the cashier told me to call the number in case I needed anything so they can come down and help because they didn't want me walking up the stairs for anything stupid. To say they were sweet was understatement, the level of care I received felt like I was in one of my dad's restuarants growing up which in my opinion is not something you see these days. I decided to have a pizza while I waited because another customer said it was amazing. Even though I was skeptical due to the paper menu, they really did their big one with that pear pizza. This spot really made my day and it makes me happy establishments at this tier still exist."

"For a special occasion, make a reservation at Michelin star Reverie, a small restaurant inside a Georgetown alley. If you 're lucky, you 'll meet Poppy the Alley Cat that is taken care of by the community, including by the staff at Reverie. My wife dined at Reverie on a Thursday evening. Here 's our experience. 1) Experience: It 's a Michelin star restaurant so expect superb service. It 's clear that the chef is passionate about his craft and his passion is contagious. Every staff member from our server to the chefs who brought out our food, everyone was knowledgeable, friendly, and approachable. Throughout the stay, we were given wet towels to wash our hands in between snacks. Our water glasses were kept full. If we really loved a dish, our server would point out elements or teach us tips on how to use similar flavors at home. The journey begins with savory snacks and ends with sweet ones. Since the menu changes often, a copy of your dinner 's meu is given to you to take home at the end. It 's a perfect memento, especially if you 're celebrating something special. 2) Food: Reverie 's menu changes, but whatever you 're served will be innovative, fresh, and full of flavor. It 's also a tasting menu. When we went in May 2025, the menu included 17 different bites/dishes. The meal starts and ends with three small bites. The next nine dishes mainly included seafood and one was elk. Every dish is presented on a design-forward plate and came in full color and plated perfectly. A sign of a good restaurant is perfection in every dish and there wasn 't a bad one. We thoroughly enjoyed every single one, but our favorites were the Scallop, which comes in a fun sunchoke cracker sandwich, Hiramasa with juniper and caviar, and the Carolina Gold Rice. 3) Drink: Reverie 's drink menu comes with cocktails named after neighborhoods from around the world, wine, and other options. The Golden Gai is now my wife 's favorite Old Fashioned. She ordered two. For a sweeter refreshing cocktail, get the Old San Juan. For a refreshing, but sherry-forward cocktail, I recommend the Roma Notre. The dinner begins with chilled tea for all and it is very tasty. Savor it. At the end, you 'll have an opportunity to order more tea. Each blend is unique. I recommend any of it. 4) Price: It 's $245 a person for the tasting menu and additional prices for drinks, but for a quality dinner experience, it could be more expensive. We found it to be a fair price, especially for a special occasion. 5) Space: It 's beautiful! The design is not ornate, but rather simple, making it classy. There are two unisex restrooms in the back. When you sit down, you 're offered small stools to place your phones, belongings, etc. 6) Neighborhood: Inside an alley, there 's much to explore nearby from other top restaurants, cafes, and historic homes. We usually find street parking nearby by the Georgetown Waterfront Park. Price per person: $100+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"
