"In the fall of 2017 we came here to celebrate the boss’s birthday. The food and the service were mediocre. What you are dropping $100 per head on dinner you expect something a little more than mediocre. I received a very nice email from Tony Foreman the proprietor asking specifically about my complaints. I responded ends and the following emails he copied his minion, Will Napier. In Mr. Forman‘s email, he promised that the next time we plan to dine there I should let him know in advance and he would make our experience a lot better. He also seemed to suggest a bottle of wine on the house with the help of the wine steward. Now you have to understand that we live on “ that small little island in the Pacific” and don’t get to Baltimore very often. We were planning on returning just six months ago, again for the boss’s birthday. I emailed him in advance along with a copy of our previous emails. In the next emails I was passed down to a woman in the office who asked when my reservation was for. I told her and also asked if one of my favorite managers, who I knew well, still work there. No response from either the woman in the office, Will Napier, or Mr. Foreman. The evening of the reservation came, and we were seated at our table with little or no recognition of anything. Just two people walking in off the street and asking to be seated for dinner. Although the service was a little better this time, and less confused, my review of the food remains the same, just mediocre. No special help or offer from the wine steward, and basically no recognition of any previous emails or promises. Would I return? I don’t think so."

"Ask the person that is taking the order to write down what the customer wants or to type it into their phone.  Repeat what they said and then ask a manager for help after.  It shouldn't take 10 minutes to place an order.  I said that I wanted unagi nigiri.  I told her my order 6 times.  I should have to tell my order once, twice, or three times tops.  I don't know if there was a language barrier but unagi means eel.  Make sure that your employees know the Japanese vocabulary.  I order maguro.  Therefore, I expect the person that is taking my order to know that maguro means tuna!  I asked you for two unagi nigiri and you asked me, "We have nigiri squid, eel, etc.  What do you want?"  I told you that I wanted unagi.  Do you not know that unagi means eel?  I know the Japanese terms.  I'm sorry that I didn't speak to you in plain English and tell you that I want eel and tuna.  You gave me 8 tuna sashimi and 4 sashimi unagi when I wanted 4 sashimi unagi, 4 sashimi hamachi (yellowtail), and 2 nigiri unagi.  I don't know where the miscommunication happened.  In this time and age, people just want to get the food and take it home.  I think that it would be a good idea to have an online ordering system of some sort or just make sure that your employees are more knowledgeable of the menu.  I am not sure where the miscommunication took place, but thank you for giving me my money back!  It looked delicious but I didn't take one bite.  I was upset because I didn't get the extra ginger that I asked for!  Thanks for making sure that you gave me extra wusabi and no soy sauce because I had soy sauce at home.  Sorry for the not business.  See you next time.  I hope that you improve your process of communication."

"I called early this week to reserve a large, more private table at Lieu 's for a birthday party for two women at my church. When I reserved the room, I was told that it could accommodate a total of 12 people. We had 10 RSVP, so I though everything was good. When I arrived about 5 minutes early with a few other members of the group, the hostess refused to seat us because our entire party was not present. About 20 minutes later, 8 members of our party of 10 had arrived, and I asked to be seated as two of our party members were not sure when they could arrive and didn 't realize they had to arrive right at 6PM to be seated. As we walked back, the hostess refused to allow our party to sit at the private table in the back I had called and reserved. She was having the wait staff move the drinks/waters/silverware to another table of the same size in the bigger dining room. There were very few patrons in the restaurant at the time and actually for the whole evening, so space wasn 't an issue. The hostess insisted that she could not allow us to have this table with 10 chairs as our party had only 8. This was even though our other two members were on their way, but did not arrive exactly on time. I was humiliated in front of my friends as I had tried to make this a special event for my church group, and I was treated like I was attempting to do something wrong or deceptive by asking for the room I had reserved. I will never eat here again. This was very poor customer service, and there was no reason for it."
