"Upon entering the store I was hit with this stale old smell and there is nobody there to greet. Immediately noticing how deserted the place is, I see a server sitting down and upon noticing me, she instructs me to sit anywhere. I asked for orange juice, and was brought out a small glass of watered down concentrate orange juice, it had this sweet taste to it, I barely drank any of it. The server was polite enough, not friendly but this is not unusual for the service industry in Edmonton. After reviewing the menu, the prices were pretty standard for casual breakfast, between $10-$15 for breakfast meals, there were not many options, just your standard eggs & sausage meal and omelette options. No french toast, no pancakes, I gather this isn't much of a breakfast place to begin with. Upon ordering, I received my food quite quickly, considering I was the only one in the place ordering a meal this didn't surprise me. The food itself came out warm, eggs were good as was the toast. It was a hearty serving of food. Unfortunately, the hash browns were repulsive, it was almost as if they cooked the hash browns, then soaked them in grease before serving them, they were mushy and the sheer thought of them makes my stomach churn as I write this. The sausages were standard, nothing special, I only had one of them. I noticed the clientele coming into the restaurant was made up of older men in their 50s and up, I suspect this is more of mature pub then a place to get a decent meal, I know that now more than before. I should have gotten the message when I walked in, the place being deserted, to walk back out as that in itself was not a good sign especially when there were other restaurants I had walked by with quite a few patrons. I did provide a basic 15% tip when I paid for the meal, it came to a total of $17 (with tip). I could have paid the same at a chain restaurant like Dennys or Ricky's and received a more pleasurable meal. I would not recommend this place to anyone, if you are in the area, go elsewhere, don't be lured in by the charm of supporting an independent local eatery. I went in, open-minded hoping for good comfort food, and I left disappointed and underwhelmed. Steer clear."

"For the price, they didn’t get the little things right. We arrived promptly for a reservation and were seated after about a min wait and a decent walk at the end of the lawn closest to the beach. Not sure what the wait was since only about half the tables were occupied. We were sat in a table right in the beating sun, despite all other diners being in the shade. After about mins being uncomfortably hot and waiting for a staff member I flagged down a server, and asked to move tables. He asked we not move and went on the long walk to get our server. She asked we not move and went on the long walk to talk to the hostess who thankfully approved our request. Again, only about half the tables were occupied so I am not sure if the shady tables were reserved for more important diners. After dripping in my own sweat, the beer I ordered (tropical wheat) was not available and the waitress stated she was unsure why it was even on the menu since it hadn’t been served in a long time. The rest of the beer menu was unexceptional. Even the Flying Fish Tavern Ale I ordered was average despite the brewery generally producing excellent stuff. Crab soup was ok but a bit thin on crab, and lobster lasagna well made but every bite tasted identical and there were no sides to break the monotony. Cape Resorts you can do better. We dined at the Ebbitt Room earlier in the week and small amount more in pricing got us a step change in dining experience."

"We have given this restaurant repeat business over the years despite some of their imperfections. My family and I had a very poor experience here today and it marks the last time we will give this restaurant another chance. First of all, it is impossible to get a booth even in the early 4 o’clock hour WITH RESERVATIONS and even though several or all booths are unoccupied the hostess will always repeat the same line that the booths are reserved for other parties. Once we were told we would need to be done eating in one hour if we wanted to sit in a booth. On many occasions the booths remained unoccupied even when we are done with our meal! Today when we were told yet again that the EMPTY BOOTHS were not available, we agreed to be seated on the patio. After we were seated for a while, another party was seated next to us and demanded that all of the heat lamps be turned up high which made the enclosed patio much too hot. We made several staff members and our server aware of this but it apparently didn’t matter that we were uncomfortable AND we were not offered other accommodations. Then it was loudly announced by the server for the demanding party that they were receiving a free appetizer. It was astoundingly obvious that preferential treatment was being given to one party over other parties. We spoke to BRITTANY the manager about the overheating problem but she responded with a condescending smirk and essentially made it clear she didn’t care. We are easygoing customers, we are typically in and out quickly, and we always leave a generous tip for our servers. But after this awful experience, this restaurant has lost our repeat business for good."

"I called on Valentines day to ask if a reservation was needed and was told no and to come right in. The person answering the phone was slightly rude but ended cheerful so I thought I caught her at a busy moment. I found out my first assumption was right. When we got there we parked right up front, since I had never been there I asked the hostess if it was ok to park up front and she answered.. Aaaahhh Yeah, because the city F'ing F'd up their F'ing parking lot. I should have left then, but the reviews were good and pictures of food looked good. The hostess said sit wherever you want so we sat in the bar area. She came to get our drink orders and I said I'll have a glass of water and if I could get a cup of soup right away (I was feeling a little car sick). She then put her hand in my face and repeated WATER, and then looked to my date for his order. She brought our drinks back to table immediately with bruchetta. She walked away to answer the phone to which she spoke to them extremely rude as well. We went up to the bar to ask what our coke cost because we were done, she said don't worry about it and sarcastically said Happy Valentines day as we walked out. My boyfriend said that she had to be a family member or owner to get away with such terrible behavior. Another couple of people were going to go in as we were coming out and I said no food is good enough to tolerate that kind of unprofessionalism , they said oh yea the short rude waitress last time we were here we thought she was drunk. They turned around and left with us. So I guess I'll never know if food was good or not"
