"Just to keep it quickRamen forgot which one they got but my parents shared one, they said it was pretty good with a nice amount of ingredients Pork tonkatsu curry this one was pretty good. The curry came with beef. The tonkatsu meat was a bit dry for me but tasted good. Tako su I just wanted octopus . Tasted fresh but can't say it paired with the vinegar sauce as it didn't coat onto the octopus. Geso Karage fried calamari legs were so good . Crispy and easy to eat . Didn't come with a sauce and didn't need one Ikura nigiri I love that they soaked the eggs in their own marinade cause I've never see any other place do it. I only know of these cause I do it myself. The taste and scent was that of dashi and kombu . It removed the over saltiness of the eggs(I do enjoy it either way and the appearance of each round pearl is a different sight for ikura compared to when it is all mushed together Service our waitress was great . Friendly, smiles, and quick . She brought over some bowls and noticed that one of them was dirty and replaced it before setting it down . Made sure to say goodbye and welcomed us to return"

"Are you looking for delicious sushi at an affordable price? Look no further than this amazing place! The delivery is always prompt and accurate, with hot food every time. But dining in is even better. The owners and staff are friendly and welcoming. The restaurant offers fresh and tasty food in a cozy atmosphere. The small size adds to the charm, creating a quiet and intimate setting. The prices are great, the service is attentive, and the overall experience is fantastic. I am thrilled to have discovered this gem and highly recommend it to everyone. You won't regret it."

"I get sushi from here for lunch quite often. It 's not a fancy place, think 'local Chinese food restaurant ' but for Japanese food. Currently they only do delivery or takeout, no available seating. For what it is, it 's one of my favorite sushi spots for lunch takeout. Food tastes fresh, and it 's good price."

"The restaurant features a lovely, clean atmosphere that was surprisingly quiet for a Friday night. However, the food menu felt outdated and lacked diverse dietary options. The sushi selection was quite standard, failing to ignite our interest or excite our taste buds. While the sushi we ordered looked decent, it unfortunately didn’t taste fresh. The house sake was enjoyable, and others remarked that the wine was good. Overall, it was an average experience, but I wouldn't go out of my way to revisit."

"This is overdue. I love Joy sushi for 4 years now and just thought to share it. I need Joy sushi to stay around for many more yearsNo other place has Jean, so no other place is good enough. She's so nice and the team she's with are amazing. Our service is always good, they clean both the tables AND the chairs. Covid doesn't skip furniture. The sushi is frakkin fantastic-just look at my nigiri!!! They aren't messing around with the portion size for the price. My standard order is Hamachi kama, 1 speci roll and mixed tempura. But tonight we did nigiri and it was freaking BEAUTIFUL AND DELICIOUS.I REGRET NOTHING ABOUT MY CARB LOADING Tonight. LONG LOVE JOY SUSHI!!! ?? ? ? ???????"

"So we got home from a night football game, starving… After getting off the 1-Muni, we went to look for a place to eat dinner at 9:30pm. We didn’t have to go far! Sushi Rock is open til 12:30am on Fridays and Saturdays. The food was decent, although, I didn’t particularly like their Sake (smoked salmon) – a little too salty. I didn’t try any of the rolls, but they looked good. There are a few originals…like a mango tuna roll. I’ll have to go back and try some of those. But the “rock box” was a lot of food and a good price and I was very hungry. Another bonus – large sake collection and 3 drinks for the price of 2 after 10pm!"

"Found the restaurant accidentally when shopping next door at Oceana Market. Never noticed before that there is a Japanese restaurant as the entrance is somehow hidden. But then I spontaneously ate there and I must say: the food and the service people were both excellent. Just the interior was a little bit old fashioned. But that was for me not important as it was clean. I definitely will eat there again. Prize was alright."

"One of my favorite local restaurants because of their amazing food and drinks. I normally order a bottle of wine and a charcuterie board, but I wanted to try something different this time. My sister got a lemon drop mocktail which was a little sour, but just the right amount. She said it was delicious I had the Penelope Pussycat which had Bacoo 8 year aged rum, Liqueur de Violette, and lemon juice. The drink had such a pretty color and had an interesting flavor to it as well! For appetizers, we had the Gambas al Aljillo which had a nice corn salsa to go along with it. We also had the Roasted Cauliflower which was cooked perfectly and the Beef Kushiyaki which came with chilled soba noodles. The Beef Kushiyaki was something so unique that I would not have thought I was in a wine bar. It was so flavorful! For our entree we got the Black Truffl'd Fettucine. The pasta was a bit bland, and I was surprised because I usually always order that pasta and it's my favorite. I think the sauce might have been a bit watered down. For dessert we had some tea and the Meritagewich' which comes with homemade chocolate chip cookies. The tea and dessert was perfect for a cold day!I definitely recommend trying this place out with a few friends and ordering a bunch of small plates to share. This way you can try a bit of everything. I really loved every single small plate we ordered! Thank you so much to the staff that made our experience a pleasant one"

"Great Japanese restaurant with extremely reasonable pricing especially considering the location. $13-$15 for a bento box is almost unheard of in this area. I can finally indulge in my favorite food without going broke! This place offers a large variety of dishes, their own delivery service (which costs slightly less than third party delivery companies), and the food is excellent with generous portions. The staff are very nice and eager to please. It seems they mostly serve take-out and deliver orders as the atmosphere in the restaurant itself leaves much to be desired. They also serve dine-in meals using only plastic which was a turn off for me. Hopefully they will be able to make some improvements in the future. In regard to their delivery service, we only waited about 30-45 minutes before they were at our door and the food was hot and fresh unlike DoorDash or other delivery companies which tend to make stops along the way. Overall, I highly recommend this place. It is a hidden gem!"

"I decided to try sushi at this place after the restaurant I'd been recommended at the Japan Center was closed. I'm so glad I did! The sushi was incredible—honestly the best I've ever had. It tasted incredibly fresh and packed with flavor! I ordered a roll with scallops, and when I took a bite, it felt like the scallops just melted in my mouth. The rolls were a generous size, and the prices were reasonable. I eventually tried the restaurant I was originally recommended, but it didn't come close to this one! During my most recent visit to San Francisco, I returned here and was just as satisfied as the first time. Any future trips to the Bay Area will definitely include at least one meal at this fantastic spot!"

"Bonsai is by far our favorite sushi spot in the area. I'm hesitant to share this because I know it will attract more customers and make it harder to secure a table, but I've been dining here since they opened, and it's important to support a small, family-owned business. It's a cozy establishment, so be sure to make a reservation! G and Nikki are the friendliest sisters serving you, while the Chef prepares all the rolls with the help of a fantastic team. I promise you won’t be disappointed. We’ve tried many of the rolls, but some of our top picks include the Harley, Mango Maki, Fatty Matty, Rolex, Godzuki, Sosa, and the tuna and salmon nigiri, which are always fresh and delicious. If you haven’t been here yet, please give it a try—you won’t regret it!"

"So this could have been a 5 Star Yelp review. But downgrading due to the lack of service on a Friday night. I blame management, and in this case, it could just be a family owned and run business. We only had to wait 10minutes to get a table so that was good. However, the hostess taking our order was so flustered as she was the only one that was taking orders with a packed house! There were two other boys that were either cleaning the tables and seating people but not sure if they were trained to take orders. We had two friends join us spur of the moment that evening so we had a great time. No rush by the restaurant to move on. We stayed there for over 1.5hours. Not really because we wanted to, but it seemed it took a very long time to make the sushi rolls. And we had to keep tracking down our hostess to get some of the items that we ordered. So now for the good stuff. The taste of almost every roll was phenomenal. The only one I didn't like was the Slow Burn Roll, which had an interesting texture to it and no burn to it. But the other rolls and the Sashimi platter were excellent. The crispy rice with spicy tuna was to die for! One of the few places that I have been to that actually serve this. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of the rolls on the menu. Total bill for 4 people ended up around $170 including 2 beers and hot tea. We were not even asked if we wanted dessert nor did we want to stay any longer. But it was great to watch the Warriors game that was on while we ate. A very cozy restaurant and the locals know this has great food. I hope the owners take note of this and at least get someone else who can wait tables."

"This restaurant offers excellent sushi at affordable prices. I have visited several times and have always been pleased with the generous portions and wide variety of choices. The sushi dinner I ordered (chef's choice) included tuna, salmon, mackerel, whitetail, eel, shrimp, crab, and octopus. The California roll with avocado was particularly delicious. I enjoyed two plates of food and a beer for around $45, which was a much better deal than the $17 burger and fries I had at O'Hare Airport on my way here. It was a relief to find a place with good quality food that didn't break the bank."

"Quality/Quantity Got here for Happy Hour again. Thanks for having 7 days a week HH. HH Japanese Spring Rolls (4pcs) Was not as good as the first time...? Still good, but we felt the first visit was larger and fresher. HH Japanese Taco (2 pcs) Still my wife 's favorite. Suzuki, Japanese Sea Bass Two orders, we have been on a HUGE sea bass journey recently, but unfortunately, this did not meet our needs. And my wife had a bone in hers. Dry Aged Rib Eye I would have preferred medium raw, and a thinner slice of meat. My daughter was the smarter of the two and only ate half at a time. I put mine entirely in my mouth at one time and the beef was a little hard to chew... FairyTale The favorite order for all; my daughter picked this one. Angry Fish Our least favorite, But we always try to get the signature items/the name of the business. Green Dragon This was huge and good. Off of the Super Size roll menu. Always good to get a roll off of this menu. HH Sapporo Light and refreshing. I prefer stronger and more flavorful beers, but when eating Japanese... They overcharged me $1, but corrected right away when I brought it to their attention. Cut and pasted from my previous review, yet still forgot to order. Note to self for next visit Rockin Crawfish, King of Jungle on Fire. Also available Specials, daily specials (see website), omakase, lunch or dinner menus, entrees, udon/soba noodles, boats /angry fish remix, appetizers, desserts, and sake. They have so many specials! Atmosphere Liked the exterior and interior decor. Table sitting, got the exact same table as last time. Not sure if they have outdoor seating when the weather permits...? They sure have the space for it. See pictures. Just discovered a hidden/narrow private dining room, see picture. Clean and nice decor bathroom, see pictures. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 9pm or 9:30pm; closed Tuesdays. Yelp 's their website 's hours differ slightly. Probably due to the last call. Private parking lot in back, another reason I will be a regular customer. I like the convenience. Just noticed the Lock your car never leave valuables sign, so be safe. Service 6 stars, just like last time. The team ALL made sure we were taken care of. It was amazing to see how often each team member visits you to see if you need anything else. They were all very accommodating. It is good to see the entire team working together and supporting each other. They probably pool their tips...? See below. iPad or QR code for menu. Price $100 generous tip. Interesting, no mandatory 15% service charge now...? Owner Comment Congrats on your success since 2013! Why and how did it take me 11 years to discover you!?!?"

"- **Regular Salmon Sashimi:** 5/5 - Very tender and melt-in-your-mouth! - **Seared Spicy Tuna Sashimi:** 4/5 - It didn't really taste seared, and I've had better elsewhere, but it was still enjoyable. - **Agedashi Tofu:** 4/5 - I think it would have been improved with smaller pieces rather than one large chunk. However, I really appreciated the extra crispy coating, which is not something you find everywhere. - **Oyshi Tempura Roll:** 5/5 - Absolutely delicious! - **Spicy Maniac Roll:** 3/5 - Not the best; the tuna on top didn’t taste very fresh, and I found a hair in the first piece. - **Miso Soup:** 5/5 - Very flavorful! Overall, a mixed experience, but there were definitely some standout dishes!"

"This place has gone way down hill , it's vary sad as we was customer's for over 6 years .This service we got was rated about a[ -10 and the food we regularly get wasn't even close to what it use to be The spicy ebonami was horrible no taste , the rolls was ok not great .The server didn't know or understand how to serve as we got food no plates and no eating wear but the food came out .He only came to our table twice .with a very nice young lady that came and asked us if we needed anything , yes eating wear chopsticks something because our food is getting cold .Basil salmon wasn't even sizzling hot.Auntie the owner needs to see this for herself as she wouldn't of been happy with how her 3 of [six years] of being true customers was served. This wasn't the first time either, it was our second chance after last weeks lunch was horrible and we didn't complain thought it was a fluke. It wasn't tonight my birthday dinner Sushi dinner wasn't even close to ok it had no pride put into it.Even our friends said it was badly done.We will chance it again maybe but only if happy hour is back so we can spend less if it is disappointing. If not it will be another $150. Dinner for great food."

"This restaurant is fantastic! We traveled from Orange County for a concert and planned to eat on Sunset, but this was the only place without a wait. We sat at the sushi bar and tried around five different dishes. The chef was very knowledgeable about the fresh options and recommended a couple of chef's specials. Everything was fresh and delicious. The food was amazing and, surprisingly, we only spent $47 for the entire meal, including sake. We left feeling completely satisfied!"
