Bento box was good, they have a pick 2/pick 3 build your box. Lots of choices, food was fresh.

if they really like sushi, this place will be disappointed. it seems as if they don't know how to prepare sushi. this place knows how to completely destroy the hamachi kama, we just couldn't finish it. not even our cats wanted it without the sose or lemon, of course. jeez. even the wrong salate was about a mile wrong. but hey, it's difficult to screw filled beer well. 1).

My favorite place for many years. I’ve been there on weekends, weekdays, lunches and dinners, made take out orders. The food is delicious. The fish is so fresh. Sometimes it feels as the rice was just made to my order. Love their lambada roll, love their poki ball. There are quite few of my friends who share love to joy sushi. And now, during Covid, the sitting is outside-and it feels even better!!! View menu

All time San Mateo favorite! Friendly staff and great food.Update September 2021: We moved from San Mateo and haven't visited Joy in more than 2.5 years. First time back on Saturday night! Not only did staff remember us and our son who was only 2 years old at the time, but also our special orders with extra wasabi! We miss Joy so much!Joy has no indoor seating so choose between ample outdoor dining or to go. Fabulous!

we went to my man's birthday. we sat in the second floor per my request. it was a bit dim for my preference, but we sat under a lamp so it was good. the food was delicious and clean. I didn't get a picture of everything, but I ordered the bento with 2 articles and much to my surprise it comes with mixed tempo with 1 garnel. my bengo was with lachs teriyaki with chicken catsu.2 dinge, which I did not like were the green salat they gave you, was drowned in a dressur that was a bit too tangy, and the chicken caraage was tasteless from any reason and it was a little dry. sushi was good, handroll and sashimi.

"Curry Hyuga had long been on my culinary radar, and today, I finally had the chance to experience it. The occasion arose as I needed to pick up my partner at SFO later, and given the mere 10-minute drive from the restaurant to the airport, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to satiate my appetite and make the most of my time, rather than aimlessly circling around the airport. Conveniently, there are numerous public parking lots scattered throughout the town. The restaurant opens its doors at 11:30 am, and I arrived promptly at 11:25 am, only to find a queue already forming outside, as depicted in the photo. The attentive server, Yuki promptly greeted each customer and kept my water glasses filled, setting a positive tone for the dining experience.Opting for their Signature Curry Rice Entree, which features their caramelized onion curry accompanied by shredded cabbage, creamy potato salad, and Fukujin pickles, I decided to elevate my meal by adding Chicken Cutlet Katsu Curry with Chicken Karaage as additional toppings. To my amazement, my order was delivered to my table in a mere 3 minutes, which left me thoroughly impressed. Curry Hyuga's standout feature is their incredibly tender meat, perfectly complemented by their mouthwatering curry—a true masterpiece with Kanazawa-style sweetness and richness that sets it apart. To further customize your dish, they offer a selection of five different spices: Ichimi Togarashi, Jalapeno Pepper, Pequin Pepper, Wiri Wiri Pepper, and Orange Habanero. I had the pleasure of sampling all of them, and personally, I found the Wiri Wiri Pepper and Orange Habanero powder to be standout choices. Their spiciness elevated the curry to a whole new level, complemented by the unique fragrance of the peppers."
