"Spoke to the host whom answered the phone this evening 11/11, host was not customer service oriented. I requested to speak with a manager, the reason being was because since Covid it has been an issue dining in. I believe the manager name was Michael who I finally spoke to told me they are short staff because no one wants to work. A business that has poor management normally suffers with a poor culture. Despite most people don’t want to work now days a high turn over rate starts with your management. I’m completely disgusted with the Philadelphia brand of Gyu Kaku. I began eating at Gyu Kaku when I use to reside in NYC and they were one of my favorite. Gyu kaku for Philadelphia is damaging the brand, I am very disgusted to have received the response I have from Michael. Under no circumstances should a customer be informed that they can not be accommodated because workers don’t want to work and they walk out after or during training. After speaking to the host she asked why I requested a manager and I told her because you just informed me that I am unable to walk in to dine in. She told me in a passive aggressive manner if I speak to her as I did which was an agitated tone she would not allow me to speak to the manager. I informed the host I will gladly show up to the restaurant at this time to speak with the manager and her whole attitude changed and she put a manager on. I then received the response about short staff and staff not wanting to work. As a customer who informed you it’s been numerous issues since covid and I had to return to NY just to visit the restaurant that’s not cool at all. A lack of culture in a business which is clearly presented will always lead to a high turn over rate."

"The fact that they take reservations at 9:15 when last call for the kitchen is 9:30 is terrible. We checked in just before 9 and the hostess notices our reservation time. She asked if anyone called us beforehand to inform us that last call for the kitchen was 9:30. I replied that we were not given a courtesy call honestly, that would have helped us change our plans immediately had this been the case. Now, understanding that it was Christmas Day, we proceeded with the reservation with the hostess apologizing but letting us know they talked to the manager to inform them of the situation. Well, not sure the manager did much because as we were seated and met by our server who was covering for our actual server, Rob, it was clear they wanted to get out of there. Simple questions were responded by “I don’t know” or brushed off responses. Pretty rude considering it was our first time. So in a haste I just order a slew of things to at least accommodate the 9:30 cut off. As the sauces get dropped off, I asked what was which sauce, the server said them quickly. I asked “Okay but what’s what?” Her response “Oh I don’t know” couldn’t figure it out? Couldn’t ask? Management make it simple. 3 compartments then have it standard; left to right are X Y Z sauces. That way your servers know at all times. At that point I asked a manager to switch servers. I was already rushed by the initial server and just started off on the wrong foot. A manager by the name of Mitchell then took over. But clearly, when Rob, our regular server came to take over, you can tell he wasn’t happy to be there either. So the lack luster service, no response type of interaction I was over it. We ate the food, which for the price we paid, should have been better. Also, they ran out of beer before we even ordered drinks. Needless to say, we ate, paid and got out. Terrible service for mediocre food and poor attitudes. Not worth the trouble, holiday or not! Note to mgmt, don’t allow reservations so late."

"We ordered $85 in take out. Service was terrible upon picking it up. My husband went to the counter and said he had an order to pick up. The woman at the counter pointed and said it’s over there. He went and got it himself. Paid and left a $10 tip. Upon getting home realized we didn’t get the cream cheese wontons we ordered. My husband called and stated what happened. The girl on the phone said ok can you come back and get them? My husband stated that he would rather just get a refund. She asked for his phone number and said he would get a refund. A few minutes later the owner called my husband and asked what happened. My husband told him the wontons were missing. The owner said are you sure they aren’t there? Asked if we could come get them. My husband said no, I’d rather just get a refund. Owner said why? Don’t you live near by? My husband said no not really. Can I just get a refund? Owner proceeds to tell him they have no way to refund money. Baffled, my husband says ok well maybe next time I come in I can get them. Owner asks do you know when you’re coming? Ummm no? My husband has been in the restaurant business for 30 years. If you can go into the system and adjust a tip you can certainly do the same and issue a refund. He was rude and acted like we were trying to scam him for the less than $10 price of the wontons. Aside from that the sesame chicken was chewy and old, and the eggrolls were burnt and black on the outside. They have lost us as a loyal customer. We have previously spent a lot of money there but we won’t be back after this mess."
