"We had a reservation for 4 and arrived. 645pm Sat evening. The gal who sat us was very nice, pleasant. Our husbands parked the car and came a few mins later. We clearly had a table of 4. The young man who filled our water glasses only filled 2. We tracked him down to fill glasses for our spouses. no issues there. We sat forever before being able to order drinks. Once 1 person in our party received their drink, her husband reminded our server that he ordered a glass of wine alos, The server SNAPPED at him. Literally yelled. At this point, I wanted to leave and said let 's go. We were there 50 minutes before ordering! When we did order, we had to order everything at once and when I asked what accompanied the halibut, I was told vegetables, same as him . We ate, got the check and left. almost a 3 hour meal and sub-par service. We all felt like we were inconveniencing the server. The food was good but there are many restaurants with good food in this city. We used to go here on the regular years ago, it was fabulous then. You could pick your fish and the place used to be ice. It needs some serious decluttering! When you are paying $50-$100/head, you expect a level of comfort and to be welcome when you dine. NOT our experience. Maybe it was an off-night but that wasn 't my read. We are local and empty nesters. Our neighbors who are empty nesters also, dine with us often. I don 't see us returning to The Black Olive unless it improves greatly."
