"Everything was fantastic! We were looking to try a new restaurant, and I craved seafood. Rappahannock exceeded our expectations. The scallops were the best I've had in ages. We also enjoyed mussels from the happy hour menu and a dozen oysters! I ordered the peach tea cocktail, which was perfect for a hot day. I will definitely return and highly recommend this place! "Silas restaurant in Hotel Versailles completely exceeded my expectations. My daughter has an allium intolerance which makes eating out almost impossible but she contacted them about menu possibilities. We were able to celebrate her 30th birthday with an amazing meal. Our server, Angie, was so kind and took the time to check on other options. The chefs did all they could to provide her with a great meal. She is usually disappointed by the lack of care from other restaurants but not Silas. I haven't seen her so happy at a restaurant since her intolerance was diagnosed. The roasted Brussel sprouts were delicious and different, my side salad had chunks of pumpkin in it and I was so surprised I liked that since I'm not a pumpkin fan. The desserts were amazing too. I'm not a fan of carrot cake which my daughter got but I snuck a bite and couldn't believe how light and fluffy and perfect it was! Sourcing local ingredients is a plus and the ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful. I'd give them ten stars if I could. This place has heart."

"Great location and decent menu. However the experience wasn 't when what we expected. I rarely if ever) have left a negative review. To start, when we arrived and asked to sit on the patio the hostess seemed disgruntled and reluctant. We asked why andif the patio was closed and she said it 's because they were short staffed and preferred not to have people on the patio. So wechose to sit inside, even though it wasn 't very busy. We ordered from what we thought was the happy hour menu as many itemswere similar however when we got our bill we were charged the non happy hour pricing. When I discussed this with the server shesimply said it 's not the same even though some items we ordered were wings and flat bread and the title on both menus isbasically identical. Furthermore nothing was clarified at the time of ordering to ensure there was no confusion. Lastly one ofour food orders was wrong. Even after repeating our order twice, which was just a couple of drinks and 3 appetizers the wrongflavor of wings was brought out. When we said thats not what we ordered the server looked at us as if we were in the wrong. Toavoid any further complications we did not return the order we just took what was given to us we love wings so aren 't toopicky). Even after all of this no apologies or compensation was offered. Not sure if I 'd jump at the chance to go back,hopefully they can figure out their staffing issues as again it 's in a great location."

"Went for dinner. Wings appetizer was amazing. The French Onion soup was gross. Dark heavy salty broth tasted like a salty Sherry. The fish tacos were Basa. I asked the server what type of fish it was and she said a white flaky fish. The taste was was just ok. After my meal I looked up Basa. To my surprise I just paid a boat load of money for catfish from polluted waters. In 2007, the US Food and Drug Administration banned the import of basa over health risks. The fish inhabits the Mekong delta, which is polluted with carcinogenic chemicals from the drugs that are dumped into it. Fish farmers from the area use chemicals to kill the parasites that affect the fish. Why would Canada serve this fish?"

"This is a really great restaurant in the DoubleTree hotel. I am always wary of hotel restaurants, being a frequent flier I?ve experienced sub par food at even the best hotels, but this exceeded my expectations. The prices were a bit high for the portion sizes, but everything tasted amazing- kudos to the chefs! And this is the main difference from other hotel restaurants, the food tastes chef prepared and not previously frozen/thawed by cooks. They are vegan and vegetarianfriendly which was also a plus. I was able to get a delicious MEAL and not just a salad. I also appreciate they use eco friendly carry out down to the paper bags (with handles) and compostable cutlery. Even though the hotel is surroundedby a ton of restaurants, I would gladly choose to eat here daily during my next visit."

"When I arrived to check in for my dinner reservation, I was informed that the manager had closed the restaurant earlier in the day due to low customer traffic. I was staying at the hotel and had a hungry family with me, left without a dining option! The bar was still open, but the menu was extremely limited. Given the recent negative reviews, I was expecting much better. This experience left me very disappointed, and I am unlikely to return."

"Went for Downtown Dining Week. This restaurant was on the $35 list, however service was significantly below that level. There was a long wait between courses, but plates were not cleared off the table until the next course arrived. Our server appeared very disinterested in our table. It also took a long time for drink orders to be delivered. New silverware was not provided and I was explicitly asked to remove my fork from the plate so the server could clear the plate. The food was decent to good, but nothing special. None of these issues would be that bad had they not all occurred or had the restaurant been on the $25 list instead."

"Great service and very good pub food. Took a group of 7 after a 12 hour work day. We wanted a drink and a quick meal and White Rose delivered. The prices are very fair and a true bargain during their happy hour not available the night we dined. The crab cake sandwich was large and all jumbo lump crab. I loved the spicy sauce provided on the side. The Korean beef tacos are also a hit. The fish tacos were good, not great. Burgers come with an interesting selection of toppings and are served with house made chips which were excellent. Ni e draft beer selection and inexpensive mixed drink. Perfect spot for what we wanted. Our server was exceptional."

"We were in Milwaukee for a convention and noticed that Pier 106 was the only seafood restaurant around so decided to give it a try. Its right on the Riverwalk so a great location especially for those who like to sit outside (we didn't). We had great service and our meal was very good. We enjoyed an appetizer of mussels & clams which had white sauce over them - sauce reminded me of New England clam chowder - very different than what we expected but delicious. I had the stuffed salmon as my entrée and my husband had the ahi tuna - both dishes were very good. I'd recommend Pier 106 to anyone visiting Milwaukee."

"I was very excited to try the oysters at Rappahannock Oyster Bar because I have heard nothing but good things but I have to be honest and state that I don't like East Coast oysters. I'm a West Coast girl and just find the oysters coming out of the Pacific ocean to be superior over Atlantic Ocean ones. The only exception I've found were oysters from Normandy, France. I was excited to try the river oysters and Olde Salts. We also got some grilled oysters, some with a chipotle BBQ butter and some with smoke jalapeno butter. While I can't say that they were better than West Coast guys, I really did appreciate these oysters. The river oysters were weird to me but in a good way. They had an interesting sweetness and I found them best alone, with no accompaniments. Everyone else liked the mignonette with them. The Olde Salts were exactly that. Super briny but had a really clean taste to them. A little bit of lemon juice was the perfect bite for me, while everyone else was putting a hot sauce, cocktail sauce mix. The grilled oysters were very good. My boyfriend was actually upset at me for never introducing him to grilled oysters before, they were that good. The chipotle ones were sweeter than we imagined they would be but very tasty indeed. Service was ok. A bit slow and we were 15 min late to our dinner reservation so we had to go up to the bar to pay. I couldn't be mad at our server though because she had just started working there."

"I went to the restaurant with my three young kids right when it opened on a Sunday. The server was clearly busy but managed to bring our drinks and take our order promptly. The food arrived quickly and was delicious. The kids' meals were typical kids' fare but were of good quality and nicely presented. There was a variety of staff members bringing out our food and drinks and clearing our plates, which indicated a well-organized and efficient team. The drink options, food quality, and service were all excellent and would definitely make us want to come back again."

"I visited this restaurant for Afternoon Tea with a friend and we opted for the Tea Service for Two, priced at $66. This included a two-cup teapot for each of us, allowing us to choose from about 100 different tea flavors. We also received three types of sandwiches each (six triangles total), two macaroons of our choice, two mini cookies, two mini tea cakes, and two scones with raspberry jam and clotted cream. They offer three vegetarian sandwich options, one of which is an egg salad sandwich. Everything tasted excellent and we felt quite full by the end of our meal. The included tea flavors were priced at $8 or less from their menu, while specialty teas can be ordered for an extra cost. They only accept reservations for groups of six or more, so we experienced a bit of a wait for our afternoon tea. Once we were seated, we relaxed for almost two hours without feeling rushed. Overall, it’s a fantastic tea parlor. Highly recommend!"

"1st visit, I was told they were closed despite it being an hour before the actual closing time on Google. 2ed visit, no employee was around, this time 2 hours before the closing time. Stood around waiting and no one came out. 3rd visit, I finally got drinks and it tasted like melted ice and the second drink was inediblely tart. It was clear they weren't made correctly. I love healthy cafes but I give up on this place. Edit: very unprofessional response. It is not my job todetail the exact time and date in a review. This is the experience(s) I received when visiting your location. I understand the issue with short staffing, however you need to update your Google hours to reflect that so other people,including myself don't waste a drive. I don't have a problem with short staff, I have a problem with your business being advertised as open then being told it is closed 1-2 hours early when I drive over. I also understand the problem withnew staff, however If they are new, they should be supervised in the involvement of any food. I've only ever seen 1 employee work out front and run to the back. My 3rd visit I waited over 10 minutes for someone to come out which I didn'teven detail in the original review. So no I will not go back to wait and ask to have it remade when nobody is working out front. I've read your other responses to other reviews and it further cements the fact that I will never return tothis location or support you."

"We stopped by while passing through Holiday Island, and saying we were disappointed would be an understatement. Our waitress struggled to remember what beers were on draft, which wasn't a huge issue in itself. However, I was quite disheartened to be served draft beer in a small Dixie cup, especially for nearly $10. The tables were dirty, and the overall decor could have used some serious attention. Nearby, 4 or 5 waitresses were just hanging around instead of attending to guests. We ordered an appetizer and were simply glad to be able to place our order and leave. I don’t think I would choose to visit this establishment again."
