"tl;dr You 'll get way better service at Olive Garden, better steak at Outback, and get more respect from people working at the DMV (and I 'm sorry if that offends DMV workers). Forgoing not getting seated until almost 30 minutes AFTER our reservation time, The Derby is disappointing in the only two areas an institution like this should matter food and service. Food: I 'll keep this quick ish, the food is not good. The ribeye I ordered was cooked nicely for medium rare, good sear and perfect doneness, but the quality of the meat itself was subpar. The particular piece of meat was mostly dorsi/eye and had no spinalis/cap. To add, the dorsi/eye was tough and dry like a cheap strip steak or chuck steak. Does this matter for a $20 steak? No! Does this matter when the price tag is pushing $60 $70+? 100% it does when I can buy Prime ribeyes locally for $35/lb and cook it just as well and actually eat it hot. When polled, the rest of the table thought the food was okay at best. $20for shrimp cocktail with 3 average sized shrimp? French onion soup with burnt and hard cheese? Soggy steak fries? These are steakhouse staples that should be slam dunks for any restaurant. Service: While we were never told the name of our waitress, I can use older Yelp reviews to deduct her name was probably Barbara, an older woman with short white hair. She didn 't greet our table until almost 20 minutes after we sat down. By that point we didn 't even know she was our waiter and she made some rather rude and off putting jokes while taking our drink order. To add insult to injury, she took orders from other tables that were seated way way after ours. We saw them getting their food before we even ordered!! Throughout the exhausting night our waitress rarely, if ever, checked in on us. Our table had to flag other waiters down for water refills, to ask when our food was coming out, etc, all while Barbara was off socializing with other customers, exchanging photos on their phones, and taking shots at the bar yep... The food was delivered to our tables some 40+ minutes after getting our appetizers, not after ordering, 40 minutes AFTER getting our appetizers, with luke warm steaks, soggy fries, and the plates basically thrown at us with disregard. Coincidentally, the food came right out we pressed our waitress for an ETA read between the lines here, she forgot and/or didn 't advocate for us to the back of house. The final straw was when our waitress disappeared again and we flagged another waiter down to get our check and desserts to go (it had been over two hours at this point). When our waitress did come by, completely oblivious to us wanting to leave, she sternly said, no, you can only tell me what you need. Truth be told, which we echoed to her as well, we wouldn 't have had to tell someone else if she actually came by our table instead of drinking with other patrons on an empty night. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk don 't come here."

"Visited this large sports bar on a Monday toward the end of the lunch rush. I was surprised how busy it was, but the owner told me that business was normal, or even a bit on the light side for a Monday, which is the least busy day of the week. Impressive! Note that by the time I took most of the pictures the rush was over. The venue is quite large, and able to accommodate large groups with ease. Lots of big screen TVs. I heard that local TV stations visit frequently during the football season. This place would be on my short list for watching a Vikings game. They have an arcade style game room with a TV, table and a couple of chairs, so if you need to amuse the kiddies and keep an eye on them, you’re all set. I ordered some bar food a chicken sandwich and fries. And a beer. I was slightly disappointed that my favorite local beer Surly Furious was not available, having recently been ousted in favor of Bell’s Two Hearted. The food was fine: chicken was well cooked, moist and tender, and a generous portion to boot. The fries were just how I like them gentle with the deep fryer and seasoning. I discussed the menu with the owner and he mentioned that their pasta dishes were especially good. I’ll come back for supper one o0f these days and give those a try. COVID: the staff all wore masks, and at one point I saw the owner gently admonish a customer for not wearing his mask while he was walking."
