"Update: they replied saying they were sorry I was unhappy with my sandwich, but they were anything BUT sorry when I brought it to their attention. Funny response.Ordered a patty melt as the picture looked better than a standard burger. I did order without onions. What I got was very, very different than what was pictured on their menu.I mentioned it to the waitress and she got the manager/owner/whoever. She came from the back, I explained that I was disappointed with it and why. I showed her the pic from her menu and she said the pictures are only suggestions. What?! YOUR pics in YOUR menu are suggestions? Well, I would suggest you make something that looks like that.Basically, it was a frozen patty on two huge slices of rye with the bacon I added and a slice of Swiss cheese. Bottom of the bread was soggy (dark brown in the pics). You can see for yourself the pics vs the menu Pic.She offered something else, but they were kind of busy and I didn 't want my new food coming out after my wife was done hersGot the check and they neither discounted nor removed the unacceptable food that I didn 't eat. When I went to the register, I asked and they got someone else from the back.To him I explained as well and he told me it was my opinion that it looked nothing like the pics. Lol. I offered to pay for a side of fries because I ate the fries while waiting, but did not wish to pay for the subpar food I did not eat. He did take the whole thing off, be he was not happy.Just honestly poor attitudes when I brought this too them. Very much more interested in telling me I was wrong rather than being apologetic and trying to fix things."

"Best malts, shakes anywhere. We were in town over the weekend and did not have time to enjoy a meal at Elliston Place, but we did have time to get a chocolate malt -- for me -- to go. Hadn't been to Elliston Place in quite some time. Completely different staff of course. Younger. I went ahead and ordered my malt at a cost of around $5.50, including tax. I wrote in another review that I would never get a malt that cost $5, but in the case of Elliston Place, we'll make an exception! Young girl around 20 years old started to make my malt. One thing I can't stand is when people make chocolate shakes with chocolate ice cream. So I just wanted to make sure she was going to make it properly: vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, milk, malt powder. She said, "I know how to make a chocolate malt." OK, fine. I watched her assemble it just the way you are supposed to. A chemist could not have assembled more correct proportions of each ingredient. I have chocolate malts everywhere, but this one is the best I've ever had. It was thick all the way to the bottom of the large cup. Worth every cent. -----30 Oct, 2010----- One of my favorites anywhere. This is one of my favorite restaurants in the world. As another reviewer said, the milkshakes are the star here. They are great, made with Nashville's Purity ice cream. However, I think the food is very good, too. Classic diner burger. I've tried the veggies and they are quite good. The atmosphere is just about without equal."

"The reviews on this Big Boy seem to be barbelled between love and hate. The loves understand that it 's a Big Boy and not Chez Money in Bham. The hates seem to , well not like anything. Like the review that didn 't like the clamp shouter! . Thanks Einstein. When in Rome as the saying goes, do as the Roman 's do. Well when in Big Boy do as the Big Boyans ? do. Don 't expect a cheap gourmet lunch. Go in knowing that this is going to be old school hearty fare and you 'll be fine. I am of the latter group and ordered a Big Boy, fries and an iced tea with the salad and soup bar. Hey I had a gift card! . I was torn between the best cheese burger in the world the name of which they have somehow trademarked and the Big Boy but I went with the original. As for scouring the world for other cheeseburgers to compare, while appealing, seemed out of the question. I started with the salad bar which was great with, wait for it...iceberg lettuce that was fresh and crispy and all of the other faves. The soup s had to wait for another visit so I 'll withhold judgement. My burger and fries arrived in good time and was fantastic. The Big Boy is basically what McDonalds ripped off for the Big Mac. Two patties, sauce, lettuce, pickles, you get the drift. The fries could have been in a bit more...hello 5th star, but were fine. Iced teas were brought in quick succession and were fresh with a nice wedge of lemon. They had some great looking deserts but that 's for next time. All in a great if a bit pricey lunch. But hey everything is pricey these days. So put on your retro hat and your big boy pants and step back in time for a great lunch at an iconic restaurant. And you 're really shopping local because the chain in headquartered in Warren! Big boy, oh boy...Go!"
