"We wanted to love this place so much. Unfortunately, that just was not possible. Initially, our visit started off promising. We were greeted, had a very short wait, was seated, then greeted by our lovely server. We ordered drinks and the Butcher’s Board, and received those fairly quickly. My husband even asked for a recommendation on their scotch, and the bartenders choice did not disappoint. However, then things started progressing downhill. While the Butcher’s Board was good and of decent value quantity and quality wise, we did have to wait 20 or so minutes to order our main entrees after receiving it. During the time that we were awaiting our entrees, a very large and loud party was sat 5 feet from us. While I do not mind people out celebrating, I do mind extremely loud, continuous cackling. During this time our drinks sat empty for quite some as well. The next and biggest issue we had during our visit was the quality of our main meals. While my husband’s and son’s steaks were very good, the rest of our meal was not. I ordered the Amish chicken. It looked so promising, but was so burnt through the entire bottom, that I could hardly chew it, yet alone cut the skin to have a bite. The sides were also very disappointing. We ordered asparagus and it was disgustingly undercooked. Literally could not eat it. We ordered the whipped mashed potatoes and there was absolutely nothing “whipped” about them. They looked and tasted like the plain, hard, and crumbly inside of a regular baked potato. We also ordered the mac and cheese which looked and tasted exactly like the mac and cheese at Long Horn. All in all it was just a very disappointing experience. Especially for the price the meal. I have zero problem paying high prices on great food, but the quality was just not there for us at Brooklyn and The Butcher. It’s sad to say, but we will not be back there again."

"Although we arrived right on time for our reservation, our table wasn't ready. However, the staff quickly accommodated us at the bar, where we enjoyed cocktails while waiting for less than 15 minutes. The interior of HSC has the charm of a vintage cigar shop or whiskey bar, creating a sophisticated and nostalgic atmosphere. The menu features a range of classic steakhouse starters, salads, and entrées. We started with the soup and salad specials; I went for the lobster bisque, while my wife chose the burrata salad. She loved her salad, though I found the lobster bisque a bit underwhelming. Our server, Matthew, recommended the 10oz sirloin with mushrooms and blue cheese fondue for me, while my wife opted for the 8oz filet. Each entrée came with a vegetable medley and the nightly potato option—garlic mashed potatoes—which were a perfect pairing with our steaks. The steaks were cooked to perfection, but the vegetable medley wasn't up to par. Even though we weren't particularly hungry, we decided to treat ourselves to dessert to complete the meal. With a couple of cocktails included, our total for the evening came to just over $250, tip included. Overall, The Hanover Street Chophouse is an excellent choice for a romantic date night, especially if you're already in the Manchester area or have other plans nearby. However, it may not be worth a long trip if you're planning to go there solely for the experience."
