"its been a while since eating here. was very disappointed with the menu selection, the food quality, and service. We were constantly being rushed. Hadn’t gotten 1/2 way through appetizers and they started clearing plates and food away, constantly rushing through coarses. the food quality was the most disappointing, the food was very subpar. I could’ve made a better meal. Ravioli was frozen, Cacio E Pepe was like noodles with butter, and it just was very basic, no flavor. Chicken Melanese greasy. Our server was nice but inattentive, and uncomfortably rushed us. So many other restaurants with better food and service. Skip it. this used to be a favor of ours. Sad to see it go doen the tubes, very disappointing."

"Long time fans of this restaurant since it first opened, however we had a very poor experience this last time and I’m offering up suggestions for the kitchen only. The reception desk and the wait staff were beyond reproach. The following dishes were very disappointing: The Bibb lettuce salad had nothing else in it and the dressing tasted like pure mustard, my pasta with lobster dish was too spicy and the lobster was translucent, and this was after I had alerted our waiter to the fact that I could not eat spicy foods and said no hot or Chile pepper flakes. My friend’s moules frites were lacking in quantity and should have included grilled bread for the sauce. The only dishes that were actually perfect were 2 orders of steak frites. We were very excited to try the restaurant with an authentic French chef but were left questioning whether to return again or not. So sorry."

"The third time really was the charm for us at this restaurant. During our first visit in 2022, we felt ignored by the waitress, and the food was served cold. On our second visit, we rushed in and the waiter nearly snatched the menu from our hands without even asking if we were ready to order. However, we were pleasantly surprised during the New Year’s celebration. This time, we had a wonderful waitress who gave us plenty of time to look over the menu and was cheerful despite the busy atmosphere. The food was delicious and served hot. The only downside was the noise level, but with so many guests celebrating, it was to be expected during the holiday. I had sworn I would never return, but my opinion has definitely changed!"

"Kevin and his team did an outstanding job making my husband's birthday memorable! Our server was exceptional and handled our somewhat demanding group with ease. I was initially concerned about bringing a large party to the restaurant, but giving them advance notice made the experience truly enjoyable. Everyone had a fantastic time and seemed to love their meals. The menu features classic American bar food, and we particularly enjoyed the tater tots (we tried the cheese and bacon as well as the crab dip varieties). The fish and chips were perfectly fried, and the jalapeño bacon is truly a standout dish!"

"Wow what a great restaurant. It is a definite go to place every time we're in Chicago. You can't beat the unique menu, locally sourced ingredients and the friendly and helpful staff. In warm weather it has one of the best patios in the area. This visit was exceptional. The cheese and charcuterie platter was delicious with tons of options. We sampled the smoked ham, chorizo, serrano ham along with the red dragon and manchego cheeses. Platter looked beautiful with toast crisps, marinated olives, pickles, apples, raisins and whole grain mustard as sides. Entrees were flavorful and fresh with the salmon salad being a medley of fresh house smoked salmon, bagel crisps, cream cheese, tomato and capers. Delicate but filling also. Chicken and waffles made a savory entree with crunchy waffles and lightly breaded chicken. Very flavorful syrup was warm and added to the overall taste. Eggs Benedict were perfectly cooked but our favorite part of the meal was the ham freshly out of the smoker; hot and savory we could have ordered more. As always cocktails are unique and pack a punch a very comprehensive beer list adds to the fun. Our server was very helpful, made great suggestions and kept our drinks topped up. A fantastic way to spend Saturday morning. A"

"I’ve had Saturday brunch here many times but yesterday’s experience was terrible. Service was slow, eggs were hard and they had no jelly for the toast. It’s brunch for goodness sakes, you’d think they would have jelly! It took forever to get our food as well as our check when finished eating. An hour brunch took almost two hours and we got bacon and eggs! Doesn’t take that long to prepare. The place was almost empty and all of the wait staff looked like they were moving in slow motion. A friend of mine warned me not to go, that she had just had a bad experience there a few weeks prior. I didn’t listen because restaurants can always have an “ off day” when things just aren’t going well. I hate to see this happen to Brio because they’ve always been consistent with food and service and Ive enjoyed going there. Hope they can get it together before they go under!"

"This hidden little gem of a restaurant is just off 2nd ave., where it is a bit quieter and less hectic. I have been returning here for several years now and it consistently offers excellent service, terrific, moderately priced, creative middle eastern dishes and a wonderful relaxing cozy atmosphere inside or out. They offer a nice selection of wines and excellent Sangria too.Be on the look out for a nice winter offering of HOT SPICED WINE as the temperatures drop. You will never be disappointed at this special little place!"

"Extremely surprised that.the food was so good. Probably the best pita I have ever had. The whole vibe of the place is super unique with all the laid back seating. The waitress dress code adds to the overall score. I think the devil was the mastermind behind this place, so yeah it seems he does care."

"Do not waste your money here. This was the single worse dining out experience I have ever had, without need to exaggerate. We had a reservation well in advance, they did not seat us for 20 minutes with no one in front of us and open tables clearly visible. The waitress sat us, took our order, and legitimately ignored us for the rest of the night -while helping every other table all around us (now given this a 10 table or so restaurant, she was clearly going out of her way to ignore us). The other waiters were the same, and upon mentioning to the waiter we were being ignored, he laughed and left. I stood next to her while she was at the register, she tried to walk past me and i had to demand my check to pay. They are lucky we had the decency to pay because that restaurant did not deserve a cent. Bad waitress/waiters. Overpriced for what you get. Poor service. Mediocre food. Not worth your time."

"The food was average and the prices matched. I was honestly disappointed with my experience. I ordered the Pollo Caprese, and the mozzarella slice was the smallest I've ever seen, with barely any pomodoro sauce. It was just okay, and we had hoped for something better. We all found the dish to be quite high in sodium, which added to our disappointment. On a positive note, our server was very attentive!"

"What a wonderful way to celebrate New Year's morning! The food was outstanding and very filling, with plenty of leftovers to take home. Each person's total, including drinks and tips, came to $25 or less. They also handled our separate checks for the six of us without any issues. Beverage refills were prompt and attentive. I can't wait to come back!"

"We were a party of four and each of us had what was likely the worst meal that we ever had at a restaurant. The service was poor...the waitress spilled water all over the table and we had to request her assistant to wipe it up. The drinks took forever to reach our table...they arrived at about the same time as our food. The waitress gave the wrong explanation of the type of beer that was available....nothing like she described. One of us ordered something simple like spaghetti and meatballs. The order came out as just meatballs. Then, she asked where the pasta was and that came out with about a spoonful of sauce. The meatballs were hard enough to be golfballs. Other entrees were equally as bad. All four of us couldn't wait to get out of that place. If it was possible to give negative stars, we would do that. Never again."

"Amanda and Jeff our servers were great! 5 stars! The problems were with the amount of time it took to get food and drinks! They didn’t have olives for the martini, didn’t have there famous flatbread crackers with the bread, they ran out of certain appetizers as well as desserts! We were served one pizza so under cooked it could not be eaten."

"Went to this location by Briarwood Mall on a Saturday evening around 6:30. The restaurant was not full and there were few people waiting, which seemed odd for a Saturday evening at dinner time. Our server took about 15 minutes to greet us after we were seated. She did not apologize for our wait and she did not bring water or bread with her. She did make sure she prepped the oil for our bread though which finally arrived about another 15 minutes later along with our waters in dirty glasses. Food took a while, and when it finally arrived, it was pretty tasteless. We had to wait forever for our bill, and our server never asked if we wanted it together or separate, so splitting the bill took another 10 minutes. Either our server had not been trained very well, or she just didn't care. The hostess was the only person cleaning tables on our side of the restaurant. She was trying to do a good job, she was actually running on several occasions. Very odd and disappointing experience. Arrived and were seated around 6:20 didn't leave till almost 8:00 because everything took so long. Would not go back to that location, and probably wouldn't be too keen on trying a different one either."

"What a pleasant surprise! From the roasted octopus and artichoke fritters we had for appetizers to the complimentary lemoncello, and real canoli’s and profiteroles we had for dessert, everything was excellent. But the highlight had to be the “out of this world” bolognese over superb hand-made pasta. Service was friendly and efficient, even though Ellen was doing it mostly by herself. A student at Northwestern, she said she enjoyed her work because diners enjoyed the food so much. If you’re in Evanston, don’t miss it!"

"We wanted to love this place. The location is perfect and the reviews were great, so we decided to spend our anniversary here. Our server didn't bother to bring our waters until after our appetizer and salad had arrived. She was too busy chatting with coworkers on the slow Tuesday night. When she did bring our waters she brought my 3&5 year olds cups with no lids. Then My water sat empty for at least 20 minutes. The Focaccia was thin and incredibly burnt (beyond the normal wood fired crispiness). The salad was fine even if I did have to toss it and serve it out of the large bowl with a fork. The pasta was not tossed in the sauce prior to going in the oven so the noodles on top were burnt. The supreme pizza was awful. Even the spots that weren’t crispy tasted incredibly burnt. The middle of the pizza was wet like the olives and veggies hadn’t been drained first. It was inedible, not even my husband would eat it. Despite conveying this to our server we never heard from a manager and got a whopping 8% off of the pizza that sat there entirely uneaten."

"Food was really good, drinks even better, coordinating food delivery for a bigger party and instead placing the food by seat number at each table they resorted to auctioning off food and was a little challenging. Not all the food came out together so everyone was not eating at the same time as they called out each dish. There were plenty of waitresses and waiters taking care of the party but communication between them lacked and management failed in giving them the proper direction. The blame is solely on management where each table could had their own server being solely responsible for said table, but like I said, each server was taking orders from from whomever summoned them. Servers were polite, professional just not in sync with each other Still would give them another try and it has a great wine selection to pair with your dish"

"Expecting so much more for a wine venue. Went for the first time on wine Wednesday. When I asked what they had for wine Wednesday, the response was 3 whites and 3 reds. I was really asking what wines they were offering, the brands. When we ordered a second glass of the “red blend” name unknown, they were out, until a bottle was discovered sitting o a shelf. No concern for serving at the correct temperature, and the red blend was served to me in a very small white wine glass. Just not very knowledgable in wine etiquette. Cute vibe inside with live music."
