"Looks like an ex employee has a very bad case with the owner. Therefore, the extremely low star rating. I've been coming here with my family and friends for 7 years, and only once the food was not of good quality. The day they were reopened, the food was still really good. I actually use their dishes as standard to compare other outs. Golden Stars is always prepared *I think more traditional and tastes better than most others in the area."

"Unfortunately a filthy restaurant for failing to maintain their trash. As you can see there is trash residue all over the ground. Atrocious smell reaping through the streets all day long. Rats trap placed by the area which doesn’t surprise any due to the conditions mentioned. Additionally, garbage water everywhere. What a lack of care and ethical standards from Fornos of Spain. For ownership to be in the city for such a long time yet 0 care for environment is baffling. A showcase of carelessness and ignorance to cleanliness. I can only imagine how dirty the kitchen is. An embarrassment to walk by."

"It has been a few years since we dined at Admiral Risty, and since the announcement of their closing, we decided it was time to go one last time and it did not fail us then and this time around! The place was packed as expected but we were seated almost immediately and once at our table it was not very long before our waiter was serving our needs. We had ordered appetizers, soup and salad and all were great! Between our entree's of flank steak and sea bass were cooked to perfection. Going to miss Admiral Risty!"

"We’ve been walking by Los Mariachis for years and finally got a chance to stop in. Hands down the best Mexican food in the neighborhood. Super authentic and a great menu. We got tacos, chicken and steak both excellent. LA style tacos. No flourtortillas here. Also got chicken milanesa platter. Comes with rice and beans. the quesadilla was not why I expected. It wasfried and amazing. The waitstaff was so great. Definitely will be back soon. I’ve been so curious about this spot. What anamazing restaurant on CIA."

"Stuck in Mickey-land for a convention, a group of us were looking for a Sunday brunch spot. Oscar's at the Waldorf sounded like what we wanted and off we went. Although I'm not a lover of buffets, this one looked amazing, with more variety than usual, including a smoked salmon bar, prosciutto bar and honey dripping from a honeycomb! There were a lot of family's with kids, so it was a bit noisy, but that didn't really detract...everything the group of 4 tried, we loved. Only 2 things that were a little strange were that the cost of the buffet only included Mimosas, not **** Marys and there were no Eggs Benedict on the buffet??What impressed me most though was the commitment to making the customer happy. When I got to the salmon bar, it was empty, although two staff members I asked told me it would be restocked. When I mentioned it to our waiter, he came back and said they'd run out, which was disappointing. The manager came over an apologized, said they'd even sent over to the next door Hikton but they were out til Monday...not what I wanted to hear. 15 minutes later the manager appeared with a plate heaped with the best smoked salmon I've had in a long time....THAT is service."

"This spot has been on Ocean Avenue for years, but I only recently decided to check it out. It took me a while to review the menu, as it features everything from breakfast specials to chow fun. I opted for the Grilled Pork Garlic Noodle Plate for $11.95. It was a generous serving with a large heap of garlic noodles alongside marinated pork garnished with sesame seeds. The dish also included a sweet dipping sauce, a side salad, and a fried imperial roll (photo: bit.ly/3Ll0GNf). It was a significant amount of food, which I assume is part of Jo Jo's reputation as a Hong Kong-style café. It was no surprise that there was a steady stream of locals picking up takeout orders. “Get back, get back. Get back to where you once belonged.” FOOD: 4 stars – a delicious, albeit greasy, comfort food feast AMBIANCE: 4 stars – nicely decorated for a casual eatery SERVICE: 3.5 stars – somewhat curt but sufficiently quick TOTAL: 4 stars – get back to Jo Jo RELATED: If you’re exploring beyond the Outer Mission, check out this collection of places I’ve visited and reviewed: bit.ly/37B1acE"

"Surprise. In an average shopping center there is a quality restaurant like this. I think of this as a single stone and mortar for quality. So don't let it go. My daughter got me out for dinner and cocktail. Wow! Everything was really delicious. I think the proverb is true: you get what you pay and sometimes it is really good quality at a fair price! Parking was easy. A cozy small corner place with a lot of seating. The huge bar was full of guests eating and drinking. Most people seemed well dressed or busy (after the amount of work?. I think it might have been sourdough? I only ate it because the oat butter had some herbs on it. I usually avoid gluten, but a slice was not hurt. We ordered the crab cakes. 2 per order. Definitely not too much bread. A crab cake. Offers and tasty with a great small crispy coating. I ordered the special grilled halibut with potatoes and green beans. I admit, I wish the fish was a bigger one because it was so amazing. The potatoes were cooked tenderly. But the green beans were perfect. I like vegetables to taste themselves, which does not mean cooked. You had a bang. The lemon sauce was good enough to drink in a cup. Of course I didn't mean it didn't happen. My daughter ordered the seafood risotto. I took a little bite from her fish was salmon. Buttery, delicate and tasty. However, the Mascarpone cheese was overwhelming and too much in the Risotto for me, the Risotto was crushed together and not loose bits. Taste a little like boxed Mac n cheese taste. I know this is a difficult description. But I did. My daughter loved it. It was a big portion and she brought home about 1/2. Then we shared my favorite all the time. Crime brûlée I can rarely say it was bomb! That's it. With a perfect thin layer of comminuted sugar. No complaints! Yummy with a dark coffee.."

"We had 4 people in our group. We were seated at a lovely table with a nice view of the harbor, and we had a beautiful sunny day for early March. Our server was excellent and kept a leisurely pace which we preferred and enjoyed. The fresh warm bread and garlic herb butter was a really nice touch. I ordered the blue cheese wedge salad and was expecting a blue cheese dressing, instead it came with a champagne vinaigrette, which I really enjoyed it. The two men in our group ordered the clam chowder and both enjoyed the soup. One noted it was maybe a bit heavy on the bacon but liked that the clams were minced rather than chopped. The only problem experience was with the prawn Louie, where the prawns had an off taste to them. The presentation was beautiful on the salad, just disappointed with the seafood item. We will still plan to visit you again."

"Domenico's on the Wharf in Monterey offers a prime location right on the wharf, surrounded by a plethora of places to shop and eat, making it a fantastic spot to enjoy a day of exploration and dining. The bustling atmosphere and picturesque views of the waterfront add to the overall charm of the restaurant. One of the standout features of Domenico's is the genuinely friendly and welcoming staff. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with warm smiles and attentive service, which enhances the dining experience and makes you feel like a valued guest. While the location and service are commendable, the food at Domenico's left me with mixed feelings. While some dishes were enjoyable, I found the overall quality to be average. At times, certain dishes felt a bit overcooked, which affected their flavor and texture. It would be great to see a bit more attention to detail in the kitchen to elevate the culinary experience. Despite the average food experience, Domenico's on the Wharf remains a lovely place to visit, especially if you're looking for a vibrant and friendly dining atmosphere with the convenience of a diverse selection of nearby shops and eateries. It's a spot worth considering, especially for its scenic location and the opportunity to immerse yourself in the lively ambiance of Monterey's iconic wharf."

"I got a call from Tom George to say they wouldn't serve brunch during the summer months, only dinner. The hostess was very nice and asked me to postpone dinner which I did. The hostess also offered my group a round of drinks for the inconvenience. So I arrived at the restaurant at 6 p.m. on Sunday because I wanted to celebrate Father's Day with my family and the restaurant was closed. We were very surprised and disappointed. The restaurant didn't call the next day and I decided not to eat there again. So I went to the LA Chapter at the Ace Hotel on Sunday and we had a lovely dinner that I knew I would because I've been there before. I don't know whose responsibility it is at the open table to be sure that the information about a restaurant is current and accurate, but nothing like this has ever happened to me in a restaurant."

"There were 5 of us for dinner. All our dishes were excellent, beef stew with polenta, New York steak cooked to perfection, salmon was prepared perfectly, shrimp pasta in a creamy sauce and a beet salad. All were great. Shannon was our server. She did an exceptional job. She came back to our table often to ask if we needed anything. The atmosphere was quite loud but calmed down about 8pm. It was a Friday the restaurant was very busy."

"If it weren't for my wife's meal, I would rate this restaurant higher. My sandwich, a summer special featuring a tropical BBQ beef, was excellent. However, my wife's steak special was disappointing. The steak was a thin slice of beef that shouldn't even be called a steak, and to make matters worse, it was tough and difficult to chew. I still recommend the restaurant, but I wouldn't suggest ordering the specials."

"We were a party of four including one child and this was our first time. We were so pleased with the wait staff and the quality of the food. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and weâll definitely come again. Weâre very anxious to sample other items on the menu. The only negative was the high noise level of many voices, but understandedly as the restaurant is small, we were in the middle of the room and tables need to be close to each other."

"When it comes to breakfast, I typically go traditional am not looking for anything fancy. This place fits that bill. It's a shabby little diner with a cozy feel to it...it's cute. My husband's go to for breakfast is an omelet...he got the Denver omelet and I got bacon and eggs with hashbrowns, both standard choices. Our food was good, it came out in a timely manner and the service was friendly. The prices were in line with other places we've gone (I'm not talking Denny's grand slam or McDonald's prices). All in all we enjoyed it and have nothing to gripe about."

"I went with a group for a birthday. It was the worst service any of us had ever experienced. Our waiter only took a couple of drink orders and then left for more than 20 minutes before we checked in to take the rest of the table order. For the food we had to tell him that we had to order. Then he took 4 orders, went away and didn't come back. When we got him to come back after telling several other workers we needed to complete the order, he forgot that he had taken the first orders. He finally took a few more orders and went, again not to every person at the table. It took 2 hours in total and the food came out at all different times. We were all honestly very confused about what was happening throughout our dinner."

"I was really looking forward to dining here, so much so that I waited in the parking lot until they opened. The restaurant itself is beautiful and located in a lovely part of the city. The staff were all very nice and incredibly friendly. I decided to try the vegan French toast, and when it arrived at my table, I was impressed by how it looked. However, I soon realized that the French toast was actually roasted with cinnamon and topped with fresh fruit, which I hadn’t expected. Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped and wouldn't recommend it."

"I was quite disappointed with my experience. Although the bacon fried rice is delicious and most of the staff are friendly, the service left much to be desired, and there were a few servers who were downright rude. I also strongly discourage ordering the scallop and salmon dish, as it comes out as a cold, congealed patty wrapped in tin foil. I was puzzled when they mentioned that it would stick to the grill after I requested it that way. Overall, Japanese Kitchen is far better in every respect!"
