"This place is a rare gem. Simple, old-fashioned, high-quality, homemade Caribbean/Latino classics, excellent empanadas, plus a whole world of baked goods. Friendly service. Everything’s good. Exactly the type of place we all whine about missing after it’s gone. Closed Sundays.Go there now. Highly recommended. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3"

"Angelo and his family have been a staple in the community for some time now. If ever I'm in Bushwick, this is my taco spot. Cholula is the type of place that after you order to go or dine in and receive your food, you see the price was well worth it. Cholula is dedicated to giving you bang for your buck. Every overloaded taco is worth a try, especially the newly added fish tacos. Their Tlacoyos, Enchiladas de Mole, are always my go-to. It's nice to see the generations of this family grow up and get involved and give a helping hand with the business, something you hardly see anymore. I'm grateful for their dedication to the community and our satisfaction. Cholula vale la pena. Gracias por su dedicación en la calidad de comida que nos muestra cada ves sin fallar. Estamos agradecido a ustedes y su famila por su atencíon de detalles. Tacos bien chingon. Siempre fiel a ustedes, me dedico esta barriga!Vegetarian options: Just say how you're eating, and they'll work with you.Kid-friendliness: Who doesn't love tacos?"

"I went to this restaurant with my family today and was disappointed with the food and drinks. The frozen margarita (passion fruit) looked more like a slushy and did not taste good, while the frozen sangria tasted like syrup or medicine. The food was just okay - the empanadas seemed undercooked and the churrasco was greasy and slightly burnt. The only dish that was good was the chicken breast. Overall, it was a disappointing experience and I'm not sure if the kitchen was just having a bad day."

"This restaurant isn't really set up for a comfortable dining experience. The menu seems to mix various cuisines, leaving me unsure whether it's Dominican, Colombian, or Venezuelan. I ordered fried chicken and plantains, but I found them to be lacking in flavor. I also tried a chimi, though it wasn't photographed; it was decent, but I've definitely had better. Additionally, the burger bun was excessively large."

"I tried the Mini Combo with Boneless Chicken Chunks, Rice, Beans, and a free soda. While it's advertised as "Chicharrón de Pollo," it’s really just chicken tenders. However, the Chicken and Cheese Turnover was fantastic—definitely a 10 out of 10! It was very flavorful, and everything was packaged nicely."

"Still the best chicken noodle soup around. Sick or not, the best! Update 11/19/23 Well, yes, it has changed but not the soup. The soup was always great there. I 'm doing a detox that 's calls for half a cup of beans a day so I got some sides of beans and also boiled casava . It is posted like that in Spanish yuca hervida . Well, they stick to the letter for that casava I bought tonite is barely boiled. Really not cooked at all. I had to finish the cooking process in a microwave. But, what if someone bought that and had no access to any appliance to finish the cooking process that should have happened in the restaurant kitchen??? I know my purchase was modest, but still, the whole casava order was raw, not one piece or two. How can a restaurant sell raw casava? I 'll go back when I can eat normally again, and give them another chance cuz I know they used to be better than this. Way better than this."

"The service was terrible. I pre-ordered two Cuban sandwiches, arrived ten minutes later, and inquired about my order only to be told they still needed to make it. I patiently waited as two other customers were served before asking about my sandwiches again. The attendant responded with a condescending smile, admitting they had forgotten to make them. I did not rate the food as I did not try it, choosing to leave before it arrived to be fair."

"Food was amazingly delicious. I had trouble ordering my food cause the waitress didn’t speak much English. The delivery guy helped. I ordered salmon rice and beans and this eggs and peppers dish. All of it was good. I must add if you don’t ask them to cover your food with a gravy they won’t.(Reviews were saying the food was dry, that’s was why) I’ll definitely be back again. A nice selections of desserts. Debit cards only if you spend $10 or more. ATM in the inside."

"The entire experience at this restaurant was exceptional from start to finish. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and the staff was enthusiastic about the food. The passion fruit mojito we had as our first drink was delicious and set the tone for the meal. My sister enjoyed the flavorful arroz con Pollo, while I was not disappointed with my chicken sandwich. The pink flamingo cocktail, made with mezcal, guava, and lime, was surprisingly enjoyable even though I don't usually go for mezcal. The service was friendly and we had a great overall experience. We returned on 4.2.22 and found that everything was still excellent, despite slightly slower service due to the busy evening. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit - you won't be disappointed."

"I was so looking forward to eat at this restaurant as my friend has been going here for many years since the time she lived in BX until now years after moving to the DC area. She has always raved about their food so we knew it was a must to stop by there last night to get our plates of food to take with us back home. We bought rez guisado con arroz y habichuelas. She also bought a small portion of chicken guisado because she noticed the portion of the rez guisado they served was small. Everyone’s demeanor seemed as though they were just ready to just close shop and be on their way. Granted it was late when we arrived (around closing) but there was still food available and rendering proper customer service and good food is a must at any hour for a food establishment. One particular lady was not very pleasant and when I tried to carry a short conversation with her about how we were taking the food back home to show how excited we were, she didn’t say a word to me until I repeated the comment to her in Spanish twice more loudly the second time (although politely) so she could tell I knew she was being rude. Her reaction when she did respond was “ah ok” and then she proceeded to serve the rest of my order. Also my portion of red beans/habichuelas were served in a small plastic container and when I opened it today to reheat my plate of food at home there was literally no beans and nothing but the sauce in the container (check the pictures). The rez guisado was basically three chunks of meat with three potatoes and barely any sauce was added. The yellow rice was very dry as well. Overall the taste of the food was mediocre and so was the service. My friend says the quality of the food has definitely changed and for my first experience it will definitely be the last."

"The avena de coco is phenomenal the rest of The food was just ok. The service was terrible. Took 35 minutes to get our check, and it wasn’t even our original server. My dad asked for a different mug for his coffee, he wanted black coffee the second time he originally had cafe con leche), but everyone just turned away and said no. I’m assuming it was because he had to pay which we were totally ok with), but they flat out said no and had thee worst attitude in life. There should be more urgency in checking people out so the line isn’t out of the door for a table. This place has soooo much potential, but definitely need to do some staff training."

"The owner is warm and attentive, but the servers tend to show a bit of indifference. The quality of both the food and service can vary quite a bit. While some dishes are delightful, others can taste a bit stale. As a Dominican, I can confidently say that the authenticity of the food is sometimes lacking, which may depend on who is in the kitchen."
