"Makanmakan seems to follow this pattern. While the food was edible, it was ultimately forgettable. I ordered a clear noodle dish with jumbo prawns (which were sparse) and smoked pork, but it arrived as a mushy mix rather than a distinct combination of noodles, vegetables, and meat. The steamed rice, which is always a good indicator of a restaurant's quality, was disappointing and mushy—reminiscent of Denny's rather than authentic, high-quality sticky rice that they should be serving. It seems that they are cutting corners, likely to save money, as sticky rice would require a greater investment.
While the food was satisfactory, it didn’t leave a lasting impression. Truly excellent meals create memories that make you eager to return, and Makanmakan falls short of this standard. The atmosphere, with its noisy concrete floors, didn’t help either, though I must commend the service, which was attentive and commendable. However, I doubt I will return in the future."
