"Surprise. In an average shopping center there is a quality restaurant like this. I think of this as a single stone and mortar for quality. So don't let it go. My daughter got me out for dinner and cocktail. Wow! Everything was really delicious. I think the proverb is true: you get what you pay and sometimes it is really good quality at a fair price! Parking was easy. A cozy small corner place with a lot of seating. The huge bar was full of guests eating and drinking. Most people seemed well dressed or busy (after the amount of work?. I think it might have been sourdough? I only ate it because the oat butter had some herbs on it. I usually avoid gluten, but a slice was not hurt. We ordered the crab cakes. 2 per order. Definitely not too much bread. A crab cake. Offers and tasty with a great small crispy coating. I ordered the special grilled halibut with potatoes and green beans. I admit, I wish the fish was a bigger one because it was so amazing. The potatoes were cooked tenderly. But the green beans were perfect. I like vegetables to taste themselves, which does not mean cooked. You had a bang. The lemon sauce was good enough to drink in a cup. Of course I didn't mean it didn't happen. My daughter ordered the seafood risotto. I took a little bite from her fish was salmon. Buttery, delicate and tasty. However, the Mascarpone cheese was overwhelming and too much in the Risotto for me, the Risotto was crushed together and not loose bits. Taste a little like boxed Mac n cheese taste. I know this is a difficult description. But I did. My daughter loved it. It was a big portion and she brought home about 1/2. Then we shared my favorite all the time. Crime brûlée I can rarely say it was bomb! That's it. With a perfect thin layer of comminuted sugar. No complaints! Yummy with a dark coffee.."

"We were three adults with two (nicely dressed and well mannered) kids at 5 in the evening on a Sunday. The restaurant was 1/2 empty and the rude hostess shoved us at a tall bar table in between a service station and the kitchen door. After asking someone other than the hostess were moved to a regular table. The waitstaff was either overwhelmed or just terribly trained. Service took forever, orders were wrong, and the music was unnecessarily loud. BBQ brisket tasted like it was pounded with a mallet and soaked in liquid smoke. The one good thing I can say about this place is that the onion rings were incredible."

My wife and I are from LA and are used to waiters not giving a care about service; Jazmine on the other hand was exceptional with her presentation and smile. She really made an effort to make us all feel welcome and appreciated for our business. When I hesitated on my beer selection she gave a sample of the ones I was interested in. Food was delivered timely and was unique in its taste and side/s. My only recommendation would be to have a little music on patio in the background for ambience but overall a 5-star experience! "don't get conned, you'll find a better meal at the mall food court. The featured *fillet* for $35 $5 would better suit a cheese steak sandwich it was maybe 1 8 Inch thick raw on one flat end and overcooked on the other, horrible. Harper's is usually reliably good but this was a bad experience, felt like I got conned at 2017 Restaurant Week take your taste buds elsewhere"

I had reserved a table online and upon arrival I was lead to my table and given the menu's which included happy hour menus. Certain seats are for happy hour which is not made clear before seating. Don't provide a menu for something I CAN'T order. There's a lot of potential but the intire staff seems very inexperienced. I expected better from such a highly rated establishment. Some of the food was as described and some just fell short. I would like to give this establishment a second chance hopefully it will be worth my time.."

"We had a great time here, but I wouldn’t say the food was unforgettable. It was good, but not exceptional. We were three diners and ordered the menu for two, which included ribs, chicken, brisket, and sausage. The portions were huge, and even with three of us, we couldn’t finish it all. They also customize the meal to your preferences if there are any sides or meats you’d rather not have. The value is fantastic, and our server was excellent! I have no complaints, but I’ve definitely had better BBQ elsewhere."

"The entire thing was very differant than the other Famous Dave's location. I didnt like that that you have to go order then still wait for you to be served. If you have small children you actually have to leave them to go order from a takeout menu, people were everywhere. You couldn't tell who were the dine in guests from the take out guests. We were a party of so this location place was very very small you almost felt like sardines in a can, but i couldnt understand why a reservation was suggested until we got there and saw why, plus they bring out these big platters that were almost as big as the tables. This location seriously needs to be remodeled. Food was spectacular as always and so was the staff"

"We originally planned to go to a wing chain but decided to try this restaurant instead. I'm thrilled that we made that choice! The food was outstanding! We ordered both grilled (with a perfect grill char/flavor) and fried wings, boneless and traditional. We sampled the Sriracha Honey, Italian Stallion, Strawberry Jalapeño, and Citrus Sinner sauces. I honestly can't choose a favorite because they were all delicious. From the cornbread basket and onion haystack appetizers to the wings with fries, everything was of excellent quality. "This place has never been my favorite to eat in Kansas City. So many great options for bbq but a friend had a gift card. The service was absolute perfection. I ordered a side salad and a baked potato and they were both delicious. One friend had a delicious looking burger and the other had brisket, which she said was excellent. "We were a table of 5 and it was a really crowded night, but the service was just barely there. Everyone enjoyed their meals, except for my son, but when you go out to dinner, you want everyone to have a good meal or it feels like a disappointment. He ordered a bunch of sliders for his main meal with nothing on them, but they came out with the mayo/dressing. It took quite awhile to flag down a server and then they grabbed his whole plate, so he didn't even have fries to snack on. I think the kitchen must have rushed to get his food back out, because the meat had bloodied the bun and was completely pink inside (he ordered medium well). So...he was done with the meal at that point. They kindly took it off the bill, but our preference would have been an edible meal and happy(ish) teenager. We would still go back, but probably not on a Friday night."

"Food was good however the service was not so great. Our waiter was friendly but kept forgetting things. When we ordered to begin with, I got a side salad and he asked if I wanted it before my meal was brought out and I said yes. 15-20 minutes later our food came out and my side salad never came. The server also forgot to bring silver ware when he brought out our food and was nowhere to be seen after. My boyfriend had to get up to get us silverware and ask what was going on with the salad. The server eventually came back with silverware and we could finally eat. He said he would check on my salad, since I wanted that first.. and came back minutes later and admitted it was left out on the counter and they forgot to run it out. I 'm not sure why he would admit that, just seems like bad communication between the kitchen and waiters and at that point I didn 't know how long it was just sitting out since they forgot to bring it out. The food was good, I really do like the brisket and enjoyed my meal, but the service was questionable and will make me think twice if I want to come back."

"When the waitress came to our table, the first thing she did was crack her knuckles... Total turnoff. Sadly disappointed when I learned that The Manhandler is no longer on the menu, I ordered the chunk pork. The flavor was fine, however, 1/4 of the serving was a large chunk of nonedible skin. The healthy side order of steamed broccoli was dried out. Remembering the warm, cinnamon/sugar apple sauce including slices of apple, I order this as the second side order and was greatly disappointed when served with a cup of prepackaged Mott 's brand, no sugar added applesauce. This was the Worst meal I have ever seen served in a restaurant and was embarrassed of the decision to bring friends family there."

"I want to share our experience with Famous Dave's in Cedar Falls, IA. In the afternoon of Friday, March 3, 2017 Ashley Pump House called to confirm our reservation for our gender revelation party later in the evening. They informed us that they screwed up our reservation and that there is nothing they could do. We spent 40 minutes French calling all places where we could think in the Waterloo/Cedar Falls area to find a restaurant that could accommodate 50 people on a Friday night. Ashley finally made a call to Famous Dave's and we talked to Melissa, the manager. She asked some questions and finally said it could be a tight fit, but they were more than willing to help us. When they arrived, they told us that they only assigned a few waiters to our party. The waitresses were incredibly patient, nice and so on, all had everything they needed. When the waiters came here and started picking up all the checks, I realized I never got mine. I let the waitress know that I never got my bill, and she told me it was supervised by the manager. The manager paid for my and Ashley's dinner and my three alcoholic drinks. I wanted to let Melissa come to say thank you and we embraced her. She congratulated us and said something else. Melissa then called on Saturday and left a voice mail that thanked us and said she was glad that they could take our party. I have never had such amazing customer service and we are so grateful for everything Melissa and the waiters have done for us. And the food is soooo delicious! It was one of the best nights of our life."

"The best thing about our dining experience at Famous Dave's was the service provided by our server. I wish I could remember his name but he made sure our needs were met as customers. He would always come at the right time to refill our drinks and offer anything we needed. We enjoyed the potato chips served as an appetizer and he offered us another plate after I said how good they were. He even provided my husband a to go soda cup when we were leaving. The amount of food on the 3-meat plate was plenty for the two of us and the value was great. The corn bread and the roasted Brussels sprouts were good. We got to use a 20% coupon which was huge. This was my second time at this location and it was definitely better than the first. Glad we gave it another try. Will definitely go back."
