"This restaurant is easier to review in a list, so I will try to list out the things you should know. I visited last night to celebrate my good friend and I meeting 40 years ago this week. While there was some definite disappointment, it wasn 't all bad. So... 1. This place is 3 blocks from the oceanfront. DO NOT be fooled by the pretty picture. There 's no waterfront in Denbigh either... (LOL) 2. Don 't ask where the water is either because they will just tell you they haven 't been on the site. 3. Do not ask for the bread and olives in the picture on their site. It 's not from their menu. 4. I ordered the stuffed plantain which is hard to mess up. It was flavorful and had plenty juice . That was a good thing too because I needed it to wet up the very dry side of rice! 5. The corn fritters have no actual corn. They grind it into meal so it tastes like fish breading that has been fried into a stick. I DO NOT recommend. 6. Of the 3 alcoholic drinks ordered at the table, only 1 was good and only 1 was finished. And that 1 was nothing but alcohol while the other 2 tasted like water and almost no alcohol, per my companions ' opinion. 7. Check your silverware and glasses. We had to request new ones due to debris on and in them. 8. You do not get a bill just a handheld device with a total and an option to add a tip... THE TIP IS ALREADY ON THE CHECK. This is not disclosed, we noticed the fine print on the menu and later inquired. 9. If you do go and decide to sit outside, please know there are no fans nor any other measure to keep the flies at bay. You will be attacked the moment water hits the table. 10!This is a quaint spot that has real charm potential. The misleading website pictures however, set an expectation that cannot be met and that leads to instant disappointment. I would have still come at some point just to try to food but I will NEVER return, because what you see you certainly will not get. And that 's the truly disappointing..."

"Limited by travel as of late I agreed to try a new place my husband found on Yelp for a late lunch. I ordered takeout, 4 different dishes just to try a few different items on the menu. I 'm not sure if this establishment has dine in option as I did not pickup the order. The Mofongo de chicharron, which was overall fine, the sauce has a lot of good flavors. However, I have to mention that at the center of the mofongo there was a large piece of pork skin that was not mashed that was over an inch long. I was reluctant to try to chew this piece but I gave it a go anyways. It took about 6 minutes to chew through it but I just ended up swallowing some pieces just to get it down. This large piece of skin also created a crater in the middle of the mofongo which made part of the mold hallow. Cutting the chicharron pieces into smaller pieces might have been better. Other than that there were good flavors, a good balance of chicharrones and plantains. The lunch specials on the menu indicate the entrees are served with white rice, mixed rice and salad, much to my family 's dismay they were not aware that salad meant pasta salad, so if you 're not a fan of mayonnaise based pasta salad I wouldn 't recommend it. The res guisado/beef stew and the rabo guisado/oxtail stew where practically identical, the portion of entree to sides are severely at an imbalance. You get a small scoop of the stew and the rest of the takeout box is filled with rice, pasta salad and wedged on top of your rice is a small condiment container of sauce that my family said was unidentifiable. The rabo guisado, as mentioned above looks identical to the res guisado with the addition of the small pieces of oxtail. We also had an order of chicharrones, it wasn 't bad it had good flavors, it was bit softer than I preferred but still had some crunch to the skin, not maximum crunch but some. Was the chicharrones worth $14? Sadly no. Would I give them another chance? Possibly, just for the mofongo, but that 's just a maybe."
