"This review is for the University City location. The restaurant is clean with minimal decor. The food was excellent. The bad: We had made reservations for 12 PM noon, as we were a party of 7. The restaurant was empty upon arrival but despite waitstaff standing around, no one bothered to show us to a table. Once we were finally seated, no one came to take our order for about 20 minutes. We placed our order including appetizers to make it a little quicker and easier for the waiter. The appetizers came out one by one over the span of 15 minutes. At around 12:45 the first meal arrived with no plate. We asked for plates but by the time the second dish arrived, there were still no plates. By 1 PM 4 of our party had their meals. One of our party had to go back to work, so the staff said they would bring her meal packaged up right away. They brought a plate! And then the dish not packaged up as she was leaving. It was the wrong dish. The waiter tried to argue that is what she ordered but at the beginning when they took our order, he read it back to us to make sure he got the order right. As we were finishing up (1:45 PM), they brought the correct dish all wrapped up to go, 45 minutes after our friend left. One would have to assume if you are going to lunch on a workday, that you actually have no more than an hour for lunch. All in all, I will say it was not the best experience."

"TL/DR: There?s a lot of potential but the place really needs to fix its issues around food and service. The review is from the PoV of a South Indian who grew up in TamilNadu, and needless to say the judgement comes from a very high level of standard, ascompared to a review of any other cuisine such as Mexican, Italian etc. That being said, I really wanted, with all my heart, forit to a good experience and was really looking forward to it. About an year back, lunch time conversation among non-Indians atwork was that the place had some good food. But honestly, we had a disappointing experience. We were a group of 4 people, ordered 2 vegetarian thali, two dosas, a vada and milagu rasam. The rasam never came. The thalis were ok at best, decent valuefor the price but very average taste. At least they came out quickly. But I don?t think we?d come back specifically to eat thethali. Two dosas took more than 40 mins to come, by which time the two people who had thali finished their meal. And the chutneywas straight out of the fridge and cold and the dosas had gone pretty cold too by the time we got it. The very least that needsto be good at a South Indian restaurant is the dosa and that ended up being not great too. Looked like there was only one personat the front desk who was also handling the orders at the table, cleaning tables, bringing food etc. Three cheers to that personwho despite doing all this still had a smile on his face. The restaurant concept is great and South Indian food is unique tothe twin cities and there is quite a bit of demand but I feel like it?s all just not coming together at this restaurant. Withfood not living up to the mark and service very slow, I?d rather eat South Indian food that I can cook for myself at home thango here. It?s probably worth a visit for many especially non-Indians if you haven?t had South indian food) and maybe you?llhave a better experience but I don?t think we are going back here."

"The buffet lunch is gone, the waiters/service is terrible. The food taste good, but you have to order off the menu and the portions are small compared to the value you used to get at the buffet. The waiters never smiled the whole time, they refused to take the dirty plates off the table and he never came back after the food was served other than to give me the check. This place has gone way downhill fast. I’ve gone here for years, but after today I will never go there again.Response to the ownerI understand that we are in a pandemic and your restaurant is struggling like many across the country which is why I chose to support your restaurant. I also brought a friend to help support you. I truly understand your establishment needing to shut down the buffet, but there is simply no excuse for the poor service your waiters provided while we were in your establishment. In most cases this is caused by a lack of training, but your waiter flat out refused to clear the table of dirty dishes when I asked him to, so we could continue to enjoy our time in your restaurant. There is simply no excuse for that other than your staff being rude. The correct response from you should have been an apology and a willingness to correct the problem, not using the pandemic as an excuse for why the waiter refused to provide friendly prompt service. I will be sure to tell my friends and co-workers about my experience in your restaurant as well as your response."

"It 's easy to impress me. I don 't need a fancy party with caviar or champagne...nor do I need scintillating company...give me the most rustic, homey food and my family for company with some good laughs thrown in...and I am over the top impressed We went in here with low expectations and a groupon $40 worth of food for $29 . I looked at the menu online and it looked good standard north indian . One thing worth noting is prices in the online menu are different from the prices in the printed menu in the restaurant eg. we ordered the Maharaja Non vegetarian Royal Feast for two which is listed on the online menu for $40.95 but was actually $44.95 in the printed menu . That said the food offered and their service was well worth the money spent. We left tummy full and very happy with the courteous service shout out to Harry the host who patiently answered our questions about the meal and was over all wonderful! We also saw a lot of people walk in and out and try their appetizers as a part of a Restaurant Walk...they were leaving blown away with the experience and happy : Now coming to the meal we ordered the feast because we wanted to taste a variety of different things They started us off with the roasted papadum which was brilliant with the sweet tamarind chutney and the spicy koriander chutney. Our appetizers were a malai chicken tikka which was very well spiced, flavored and tender/moist and a sheekh kabab lamb which was flawlessly executed. Our main meal was a Lamb Kheema Matar again executed perfectly, really well cooked and a chicken tikka masala which my son absolutely loved . With these entrees they got us whole wheat tandoori rotis we didnt ' want the garlic naan as it 's cooked with white flour/maida and they graciously substituted...bottomline if you ignore the health flag I have heard that the garlic naan is OUT OF THIS WORLD and mildly flavored basmati rice. They got us an order of Dal Makhani Which was excellent and I lived in Delhi, so I have had some really good Dal Makhani ,a peas and potato curry excellent! and raita it was good! . Harry also got us raw red onions and lemon to complement our meal we asked for it and he remembered to get it for us with our meal . He got us extra tandoori rotis as my family is not a rice eating family at no charge . Our dessert was soft, yummy Gulab Jamoons with Kheer....that my son annhilated. We will definitely be repeating this experience it was brilliant !!!"
