"This restaurant was one of the first places I visited when I moved back to Wisconsin. I missed my Friday night Fish Fries and my new roommate said this was a popular place. He was definitely right. The place was packed when we got there (no reservations taken) and we ended up waiting about 1/2 hour before being seated. Was the food worth waiting for? YES! Crispy battered fish with a flaky tender middle...I was in fish fry heaven. I believe it came with a potato pancake, applesauce, coleslaw and a slice of rye bread. I ordered the pistachio torte for dessert, and although it was tasty, I was expecting something different. My German background says a torte is layers of cake with filling, but this was just basically pistachio pudding, layered with whipped cream and cake. More like what you might bring to a potluck dinner than a restaurant dessert. Yes, I ate it all, and it was tasty... just not what I expected. The other nice thing about the restaurant is the wide selection of cocktails and beer. Which isn 't surprising, since it is a bar and grill. I had a satisfying dark beer that was perfect with my fish fry. I 've been back several times and although it is always busy, it still is one of my favorite restaurants. But I still can 't figure out why it is called the Scenic Bar ... it 's on a street corner, not by the lake or river. Absolutely nothing scenic about it."

"I chose the Pork Pluma while my wife opted for the lamb. My dish was decent but left something to be desired; it wasn’t hot enough, and honestly, the pork was the highlight. If you can make pork taste like a ribeye, that's impressive! However, the side dish was somewhat underwhelming. To keep it brief, my wife had to request her lamb to be cooked more thoroughly after she was hesitant to speak up—unfortunately, she had a bad experience with it. This moment seemed to change the entire vibe of our visit. Our server went from being relaxed to looking frantic and, dare I say, a bit scared. My wife felt awful about the situation, and I felt even worse when her dish returned and she described it as tasting like plain hamburger over SpaghettiOs. Unfortunately, she was right. Throughout this disappointment, our server remained awkward and timid, rarely approaching us with any updates. His conversations seemed short and lacking enthusiasm. To top it off, he accidentally knocked over the silverware at the neighboring table while picking up our tab. My message to him: Relax. It's not your fault that a dish didn’t meet expectations. We didn’t express our concerns in a way that was intended to blame anyone, but for $120, plus a 25% tip, I believe a chef should aim to impress with every dish, and servers shouldn't feel their night is ruined by a politely made request. Our advice? Remove items from the menu that aren’t up to par. Avoid the lamb, and definitely encourage the servers to promote the cocktails—they were fantastic!"
