"I discovered this cafe on accident while shopping next door at the Everything But the Kitchen Sink store (which is awesome, by the way! . I've eaten just about everything on the Back Burner to Go cafe's menu everything is amazing! One of my fav's though is the Pumpkin Mushroom Soup. Oh, and you can sit in here you don't have to do take out. They have about 10 tables. Nice, nice, nice, place and nice people here too! When you dine here, take a Better Cheddar Cheese Ball to go. Your friends and family will LOVE you forever for it!!! LOL"

Yesterday, I enjoyed one of the best lunches I've ever had at the Back Burner. The veggie burger was packed with incredible layers of flavor! My friend really enjoyed her quiche and pumpkin mushroom soup as well. I just wish I lived closer!

Amazing! I had stuffed mushrooms (stuffed with crab imperial) only 4, but they were outstanding. I also had beet goat cheese salad which was exceptional. The atmosphere is lovely. Staff were friendly and courteous. I had a wonderful experience.

My best culinary experience in Hockessin. I can't give enough praise: the service deserves a 10-star rating, and the dishes were flawlessly prepared. I was particularly enchanted by the pumpkin mushroom soup, the wedge salad, and the lemon drop martini. View menu

Had an excellent time last weekend, also with how busy they were, waiting was not as much longer than expected. All staff were super friendly, costs were fair, atmosphere was the perfect hit between imagination and casual. Can't believe I grew up in Hockessin and never knew these guys were here. Come on!

Love, love, this restaurant. Had the pumpkin mushroom soup that sounds weird but excellent. I had the short rib for dinner and my wife had the grilled eggplant. The short rib was very delicate and tasty. The part was good too. My wife loved the grilled eggplant. Alcoholic drinks were very good. The service was a little slow. I think they were a little occupied.

Met a friend for lunch and it turned into a long afternoon of talking : We both ordered the turkey avocado sandwich with chips and freshly made iced tea. You can place your order, pay and have a seat. When your order is ready they bring it to your table! They have great homemade dips for purchase along with desserts and ready made food items. Great location in downtown Hockessin and the food is always fresh. View menu

We decided to visit on a whim, without a reservation, but they were able to accommodate us. We ordered the New York Strip Special and the Lamb, followed by the crème brûlée for dessert. The food was outstanding—the meat was cooked to perfection and the dessert was exquisite. The service was a bit slow, likely due to a shortage of staff, which seems to be a common issue these days. Despite that, we will definitely be back.

What a fabulous little gem in our own back yard. Every time I visit, I am more impressed by the selections, the staff and interesting prepared foods. The place is clean and well organized with fanciful fun displays. The staff enhance the experience. Mary the manager knows all the regulars by name and often takes the time to chat up even the first timers, so they feel like BBTG family right away. Her passion for food and hospitality make the place all the more special. I'll keep coming back for all these reasons.

"I don't know if I can recommend this restaurant yet. They got our order wrong. We ordered salmon roe, but got salmon instead. Of course the roe cost more. I bet they were out of the salmon roe and just substituted, but of course I was not told and the roe I paid for cost more. The sea urchin roe was almost tasteless. Not sure how that happened. Previously frozen maybe? I honestly dont know. Apparently I am supposed to eat my miso soup with chop sticks some how because no spoon was included, but they did give us 2 sets of chop sticks. They place was relatively slow this evening in my opinion, so I don't know what happened. The gyoza were the smallest dumplings I have ever seen. They were a bit bland too, but at least they were not overpowered by onion like some other places. The miso soup was a bit bland too. It had mushrooms in it, which is a bit unusual, but that didn't help the general wateriness it had in general. However, everything else I did get was fresh and flavorful, so I had to give 2 stars overall. I am not writing the place off all together and would like to try them again, but I will be thoroughly checking my order before I leave next time. I don't think I will be ordering the sea urchin roe or gyoza again though. Finally, they don't have delivery. Google says that they do, but when I called, they said they do not. Not sure if this is a Google error or what, so I give that a pass."
