"Having lived in San Francisco my entire life and having eaten at every salvadorian restaurant for the last half century, I have to tell you hands down these are the very very best pupusa's in San Francisco. The staff is very helpful always especially when you are on the phone ordering something for take out. The owner makes sure that everyone is made welcome by the entire staff. During the pandemic I believe they made some remodeling upgrades which makes it even nicer and yes there is a parklet outside for outside dining. They have the most delicious orchard I like it by the pint. Thank you to the amazing staff. Muchisimas gracias"

This is the best place to enjoy pupusas! My favorites are the ones made with rice flour instead of the traditional corn masa. View menu

I've lived in the neighborhood for decades, and this place has always been reliable and reasonably priced. I'm thrilled to be able to satisfy my craving for authentic pupusas here!

The food at Balompie is absolutely delicious, featuring distinct flavors and perfect textures. Once you try their pupusas, you may find it hard to enjoy any others. The staff is also incredibly friendly and welcoming.

I visited this restaurant for Father's Day, and while the food was enjoyable, the service left much to be desired. The waitress didn’t offer drinks or chips while we were waiting in the patio area, which was disappointing. The restaurant wasn't very busy, so we had expected quicker service. View menu

Screamin' Pupusas! Hard to find better in S.F. My first time there, but not my last. Especially if I have more time, they are busy and I should have pre-ordered. I would love to kick back and eat there, and bring some friends so we can share each other's food, because there are so many delicious items on the menu.

Balompie was recommended to me by a lovely El Salvadoran woman at the Ferry Building farmer's market. Since I had a craving for pupusas, I hopped on a bus the very next day to try them out. I ordered the spinach pupusa and the bean pupusa. The spinach one was delicious—hot, cheesy, and just what I needed—but I was a bit disappointed with the bean pupusa, which tasted like it wasn't freshly made. Additionally, the salsa was on the sweeter side and lacked spiciness. As a regular at Panchita's just a few blocks away, my expectations are quite high. However, I'll definitely return; you really can't go wrong with pupusas!

"Earlier this year Salty 's was featured in one of the top 100 places to eat in the Bay Area in 2022, and after trying it a couple times, it 's easy to see why. Quality and flavor, great customer service, it checks all those boxes. I occasionally visit the 24 hour fitness on Van Ness, and Salty 's happens to be just few short blocks away which makes it perfect when I 'm looking for a post-workout sandwich. And for those that know me, I love me my sandwiches. On my latest visit, I decided to go with the 'Glorious B sandwich, which come with turkey, bacon, avocado, pepper jack, veggies, and garlic mayo. The blend of flavors and high quality of the turkey is no wonder it 's at the very top of the menu list. It 's one of those sandwiches, that you can bring to park and not need a ton of napkins to get through. It was well put together, with the ratio of all the ingredients matching well. Nothing overpowering, just sandwich perfection. The size of the sandwich I thought was the perfect size for my appetite. As I 've gotten older I can 't put down as much food as I used to, and after one-half I knew I could 've stopped eating, be content, saved the rest for later. But of course I ate the whole thing and nothing sounds better than taking a quick power nap right after. I love that their menu has so many different sandwich combinations, so definitely take time to check their menu before calling-in/walking-in to order because it 'll definitely save you some time. On my latest visit, I was in and out in 10 minutes. Definitely towards the top of my list of sandwiches in this part of town!"
