"This happened a couple weeks back, but I thought I 'd share my experience at this place. What a bizarre experience. We had a company outing at Brass Monkey, and I had 2 drinks. After starting to feel slight discomfort in the stomach, my friend and I went to the bathroom. A lady bartender with wavy, blonde hair followed us into the bathroom and stood there, peaking under the stall !!! to see what was happening. She immediately said that I had to leave if I was feeling sick, to which my friend responded that I was feeling discomfort from earlier and needed to relieve my stomach. The only thing she said was you need to go and went to grab SECURITY GUARDS to escort us out. After having 2 drinks and simply feeling sick inside a stall i.e. private space where you have the right to simple privacy to do whatever you need to do , the security guards met us at the door of the bathroom and told us they would call the cops unless we left. So we didn 't oppose because it was completely unreasonable- feeling nauseous on a FRIDAY evening around 5pm is apparently not something they can handle as a business. I explained to them the circumstances, to which Erik, their security guard/manager, said, WORD FOR WORD, I dont care if you 're bulimic, if you 're throwing up it 's a bad look for the restaurant- you need to go. I tried to reason, explaining that I have friends who have struggled, and it 's not at all okay to say. Eric could not even make eye contact with me, and instead decided to express his annoyance with a talking hand motion, completely disregarding that what he said is extremely harmful. I would understand this reaction if my behavior was disruptive, inappropriate, rowdy or whatever else. I was absolutely fine, calm, and reasonable. All in all, I realize that restaurants, as private businesses, have the right to refuse service. HOWEVER, the way this was handled, the condescending comments Eric made in regard to our age alluding to the fact that I can 't handle my alcohol , the talking hand motion, and all the snarky remarks like the sooner you leave, the faster we 'll forget your face, so maybe we will let you in next time made our time at Brass Monkey absolutely traumatic. We seriously couldn 't fathom that feeling sick in a PRIVATE BATHROOM could ever result in this. Shame on the security guards and the management for not having the proper manners and experience to handle this correctly and respectfully. As a suggestion to the actual business owners, maybe invest in a proper training program? Finally, as a side note: Eric, just so you know, karma will get you"

Great bar with a classic atmosphere. The drink options are fairly typical.

beautiful place dachdeck is a surprise and very beautiful. the bar itself is quite large, so much space to move around. loved the service. we did not order too much food, but what we got was standard as expected.

I enjoyed my time here, but I’m not sure it was worth the 20+ minute wait to get into the bar. I was a bit underwhelmed when I got inside. I would recommend instead going to Le Bain which is very close by – it has sweeping views of NYC and has a more energetic atmosphere.

DO NOT GO OUT HERE!!!!! They were charging $4 for tap water. I have never been to a bar that has denied patrons WATER. It wasn't even bottled water they were charging for it was TAP WATER!!!! And they charged a $10 cover (which is fine normally) but that on top of charging for water, insanity. View menu

The restaurant can feel cramped and crowded at times, but the people are friendly and the atmosphere is cool. The local drag shows and bear nights are entertaining and welcoming. The rooftop deck is gorgeous but can get busy. Drinks are on the pricier side, but overall it's a fun place to hang out and meet up with friends.

While the rooftop attracts the uninitiated, there are two spacious levels with ample bar staff to accommodate evening fluctuations. This song along with the timeless decor and traditional bar atmosphere make Brass Monkey one of the more tolerable big bars in the Meatpacking District. While admittedly not my favorite part of town, if you find yourself in the area and don't want to deal with riff-raff or drama, this is a safe haven.

We came here after going to Chelsea piers about a 15 minute walk). They open around 4pm on Sunday and we were seated at the rooftop terrace. The rooftop terrace had plenty of sunlight and a decent amount of tables. The rooftop terrace faces little Island. I love the chicken fingers here, they come with fries as well around $13). I also got a brass monkey light $8) it was a great light beer. The nachos were average. I would recommend the chicken finger w fries. It comes with ranch and bbq sauce to dip in. The Service was great!! The server checked on our table multiple times, always making sure we had drinks. Great spot to chill with friends during the day! I have not been here at night so ca... This place is terrible. I would give it 0 stars if I could. As you can see from other reviews, this restaurant is a complete disaster and not worth visiting. I organized a group of 60 people to eat here twice, but both experiences were awful. The drinks were expensive and weak, but the worst part was the staff. The manager was incredibly rude and made our group, who were quiet and respectful, move to different tables for no apparent reason. The security guards seemed more interested in hanging out with their friends than ensuring the safety of customers. Stay far away from this place. The rooftop terrace is not worth it, there are much better options in the city for a good time. Hopefully, t...

I liked everything about this place but people need to stop praising the food. Its regular bar food that tasted like McDonald's. The buffalo sauce tastes like chemicals but I dont blame brass monkey because thats how they buy it.I had cooks who know how to fix the sauce and make it their own with a few simple ingredients already found in every kitchen.Anyways everything else is great. The food is definitely good if youre five margaritas deep or havent ate in more than 16hrs. I had the cheeseburger and it was cheesy and fresh. Lettuce and tomato would of put it in another level.Anyways yea just regular bar food.Im pretty sure this bar is only known for their atmosphere and drinks not their fo...

"We went to Bread N Wine on a early Saturday afternoon for brunch. We were greeted and seated by the servers who were attentive. The food was okay the bread was really soft and fresh. My partner got the French Lentil Soup, Spinach and Tomato Egg Bake andI got the French onion soup, egg omelette with spicy tomato avocado and onions. I wasn 't happy with my omelette because thespicy just meant it was covered in hot sauce within. For beverages, we got chai lattes (we later found out it wasn 't tea basedbut rather coffee) and we had the option of oat milk, almond milk or regular milk. In terms of our overall experience we feltby the end too many things were steering the experience south; the worst was when we were accused of using counterfeit money topay for the tip. There was no special marker used to prove that the money was counterfeit or technology to back up this claim. That experience alone left a bad taste in our mouth as we left embarrassed by that claim, kind of shook from that, we stilladded the tip to our credit card 18%. As we walked out and talked about how weird that was, the owner of the business nextdoor overheard us and asked to see the $20 bill he showed us that our money was real and validated what we knew, that themoney wasn 't counterfeit. When we went back into Bread N Wine to discuss this there was no apology, just well, it felt thatway , shrug. It left a terrible feeling. We would not go back after that, this is not how you treat customers from start tofinish, hence the 2 star review."
