"Without a doubt, this is the best burger place in town! Whenever I stop by Placerville, Old Town Grill is a must-visit. The food is fresh and prepared with care. The owner, John, is a genuinely friendly guy who will remember your name for years and warmly greet you whenever you visit, especially when he’s there. I highly recommend the bacon blue cheese burger—it's my personal favorite! The outdoor seating area is beautifully shaded and very pleasant. The decor has a unique, eclectic vibe, and while the live parrot inside the restaurant might not appeal to everyone, it definitely adds to the establishment's local charm. This spot is the go-to for lunch in Placerville. Don’t be put off by the queues; the service is quick, and the food is absolutely worth the wait!"

"First time here We showed up early for our reservation and the table was ready which was great. Friday night, Bar was full. Grabbed a couple of drinks, we’re rum drinkers, and they were strong. Always a plus. Not a big rum selection, but no one else really has much. No worries. Got the Ahi app, if you like sushi, it’s a great pick. Each of our entrees were a plate, a ribeye and an filet. At this price, it needs to be a dry aged, melt in your mouth piece of heaven. It wasn’t. My wife got the filet and likes a medium temp with a char outside (don’t ask). It came out almost we’ll done. My ribeye was a proper med-rare, and decent. Nothing spectacular. Veggie side was carrots and red peppers and we both opted for the baked potato. Nothing bad, but nothing great. The kids running food, clearing tables, and refilling drinks were attentive. Our waiter was fine, but I’m guessing he as high by his mannerisms and pupils. He had stuff in his hair like he walked through a bush and no one told him to get it out. Crowd here was fine, not too loud, most folks are in T-shirts and jeans. Quaint location, small and personable, lots of potential. Overall, even with inflation, the value just isn’t there for the food. later and we were underwhelmed. Probably won’t be back anytime soon."

"We are new to the area and we love Thai food and were happy to notice a Thai restaurant in a very nice looking building. We walked in there was no one to greet us. Finally someone walked by and said just grab a seat anywhere. There were electrical cord's and space heaters everywhere we had to walk over. We sat down and a good 15 minutes later a waitress came over and gave us menus and asked us if we'd like anything to drink. We ordered and waited 20 minutes for out beverages. We still waited and waited and tried to grab someone's attention to ask how much longer and no one would look at us. It was exactly 1 hour and 15 minutes before we got our food. Okay now the food was excellent, absolutely delicious. But I don't think I'd give it another chance."

"Actually, I don't give 5 stars so easy. After finding that I gave this place 3 stars first, I thought it was long overdue for an update. The MENU changes with the seasons and is always fresh! I miss the chicken piccata. Recently my son had the duck and it was impeccable! I had the 'Greek' Veggie Pizza and it was perfect! The STAFF is welcoming and attentive. Patrick's my favorite server (and no, I'm not his mother). Christian is knowledgeable and present. The DESSERTS are out of the charts! My favorite is the Molasse Gingerbread Cake! The SETTING, though, small and seemingly full, definitely worth waiting!"

"Diamond Springs Hotel is an old hotel that is now just a restaurant. The same folks own the Sportsman's Club in Pollock Pines, CA. The two menus are the same. This is not a fancy place with its plastic red bistro-checked tablecloths, different coffee mugs and plates but the food is pretty darn good! My fave is the Monte Cristo Sandwich made on French Toast with ham, turkey and cheese and sprinkled with powdered sugar. I love the way they do it because they don't deep fry the whole thing like some other places do. The omelets, biscuits and gravy and corned beef hash are fabulous as well. Portions are large enough to share for some people. If you are cruising Hwy 49 in the Mother Lode of California just south of Placerville, give this place a try."
