Cecil's Texas Style -b-q

I found the ribs to be tough and not as tender as I had hoped. The collard greens were overly vinegary, while the green beans were rather bland and lacking in flavor. I won't be ordering from Cecil’s Texas Style BBQ again.

I have to give props to the bands that are fair with their service. However, the dishes really needed a sidekick of more flavor. There wasn’t enough diversity in the flavors. A meat entrée deserves more zest—let’s spice it up!

The brisket was a bit dry, and it would be great to have the option to choose between moist or fatty cuts on the menu. However, the sides were exceptional! We tried the BBQ beans, fried okra, sweet potato soufflé, and collard greens, and everything was fantastic. The Texas Toast was absolutely perfect.

Delicious! I had a craving for homestyle BBQ, and everything I tried was exactly the flavor I was longing for. Seriously, did my grandma end up working in your kitchen? I ordered the lunch special sandwich with two sides, but I couldn't resist trying everything on the menu. The staff was friendly and had a great sense of humor, and the restaurant was clean with plenty of seating available.

This was my first time there..they have a good selection of food items to select from...it like a buffet style setup but a one time go around. It would be nice if the food was fresh and hot. The food was cold to lightly warm. I went back and ask for fresh hot French fries. The staff was pleasant at least If I return I hope the food will be hotter. The brisket was dry and lacked flavor, and the Texas toast was overly thin and heavily sprinkled with garlic salt, making it taste more like salty seawater than anything else. The macaroni salad and coleslaw were soaked in a watery dressing and were just as bland. How can a restaurant like this not offer macaroni and cheese?! The only Texas element I noticed was the enormous fountain drink. I'm hoping it was just an off day for the kitchen, but I won't be returning to find out.

This was my second time ordering from Cecil's via DoorDash, and this time I opted for the 3 Meats Dinner. I selected Jalapeno Mashed Potatoes and Hot Beans as my sides, and both were incredibly tasty. The three meats I had—Hot Links, Brisket, and Pulled Pork—were all flavorful. However, I couldn't help but notice that the portion size seemed smaller than my previous order. Given the current economic situation, I understand why this might be the case, but for nearly $19.00, I expected a bit more meat. Next time, I might try visiting in person to see if there’s a difference. I’m still giving it 4 stars for the flavor, but I might consider other options in the future.

When I got home and opened the ribs, I was really disappointed (see attached photo). It was just a bunch of dry bits with hardly any whole pieces. I felt like I might have received the leftovers from the ends of other racks. From what I saw of the diners in line, their meals looked great, which is why I was so eager to order. The brisket was slightly better, although still on the dry side. I wouldn't choose the pulled pork and sausage combo again. I wish I had taken a picture because the portion of the pulled pork was quite small, and there were maybe six thin slices of what seemed like Polish kielbasa.
