"The sesame balls were a highlight—fresh, soft, toasty, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. The orange chicken was flavorful, enhanced by tasty minced garlic that added an extra layer of depth. The broccoli beef was also good, with the broccoli cooked to perfection, although the sliced beef was a bit too tender, likely due to over-tenderizing. The sweet and sour chicken had a nice flavor, served hot and crispy, with the chicken packaged separately from the sauce to maintain its crunchiness—though it was slightly dry, which is common for sweet and sour chicken. The pan-fried house noodles were fantastic—packaged separately to keep them crispy and not overcooked, making them one of my favorite dishes alongside the sesame balls. Everything was neatly packed in a cardboard box instead of plastic bags. The honey walnut shrimp was decent but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall, a satisfying meal!"

Amazing food. I got the shrimp chicken beef chow mein and it’s the best I’ve ever had!

The staff is incredibly friendly, and the food tastes great. However, there have been times when they forgot to include utensils for the rice.

Portions are truly enormous. $11 for back plate (kung pao bean curd) and $14 for front plate (lemon chicken). Tastes great too. Service was fast at dinner time on a Thursday. View menu

This restaurant is my absolute favorite. It offers the best Chinese food I've ever had. I really miss the Szechuan shrimp! When I lived in Long Beach, this was my go-to comfort food. Chen's, I love you!

Arrive with an empty stomach! The portions are massive, the flavors are decadent, and is the perfect place to bring friends. Highly recommend the spicy salt and pepper shrimp. This is also a staple of the community.

The orange chicken was excellent—just the right balance of sweetness and not overly breaded, with well-cut pieces of chicken. I mainly came for the wonton soup that I've been craving all week, and it definitely satisfied my appetite. View menu

Best veggie fried rice I’ve had in years ! the container was so full it wouldn’t even close. The rice was freshly made and so delicious, sometimes fried rice doesn’t have a lot of flavor to it but not this one. Very nice ambiance inside and the service was friendly fast and efficient. I loved my lunch.

If you're craving the classic, indulgent vibes of a Chinese restaurant like Chen's, you might enjoy it. However, if you're seeking a more authentic Monterey Park experience or a healthier California-style meal, this isn't the right spot. While the soup had a nice, flavorful kick, there are plenty of excellent Thai restaurants nearby (right next door, in fact) that offer fresher, more satisfying dishes featuring vegetables. This is an updated version of my previous review from Saturday, May.
