"Avoid Eating China Cafe!I'm not sure who is responsible for this experience, but it made me write this review. Each of the dishes my fiancé and I ordered online from this restaurant for dinner had significant hygiene problems and the service was lousy. The Beef Chow Fun did not look appealing. The beef was fat and glossy, and pink in the middle when we bit in. When we removed the beef, from the dish we found that the noodles were flavorless and had to add a lot of seasoning to it.The spiciest level Hot and Sour soup was mild, and while it tasted okay, we repeatedly found chunks of chicken in a soup that is supposed to be exclusively tofu. The worst offender was the Roasted Pork Chow Mein that, according to their website, included a side of rice. An employee called and told me that I was confused because Chow Mein does not have noodles and neither meal comes with rice as a side. She suggested I switch to Lo Mein instead but did not offer another substitute or refund that side. When we eventually started eating the Lo Mein, we discovered a dead fly in the food.We were initially excited to order from a local restaurant and save leftovers for the next day. But we ended up having to waste our money throwing inedible food away. Unless they go through some major changes, I would steer clear of this place."

Super nice staff, very attentive. Generous portions, prices are average. Now that the bridge over Four Mile Run is open again it's super convenient, too.

The salt and pepper shrimp did not fill the container. It's a fake-out with the shrimp on top of a bed of dry chow mein noodles to make it look like there's more than there is. Will not be ordering from China Cafe again.

I got takeout here and decided to go with the general Tso's chicken combination. The egg roll was nice with a lighter wrapper. I got medium spice level and there was maybe a tiny kick but nothing really. The chicken was great in the sauce. The fried rice was alright too. Solid place for takeout. View menu

This place is a mom and pop Chinese shop. Which doesn't look like a lot, and it's definitely not dine in. However, if you're looking for a quick to go Chinese food, this is your spot. The prices are reasonable and the customer service is hit-or-miss. Generally nice, but it is what it is. I recommend the spicy hunan chicken and lo mein.

It's a small shop next to pizza hut but the food is good. Good price and the food is a good amount that 2 people can eat from it. The food reminds me of the Chinese food from New York so that's why I buy from them every time I feel to eat Chinese food. To the cook I must say you are very good at cooking. Thank you for making my food so delicious!!!

"This place really helped me adjust. I later learned that people gravitate towards certain bars, and I found my favorites, especially those with live music like Birchmere, Black Cat, 9:30 Club, Lincoln, Capital One Arena, and even the now-closed O'Shaughnessy's and Rock & Roll Hotel. One of my most memorable experiences was running into Rory Sheridan on one of my first visits. He was launching his DC music campaign back then and was part of Loud Boyz. We chatted a few times, and I even caught up with some old classmates. Another highlight was when I heard about a “reunion” night before Thanksgiving, and I decided to crash it. There were moments where people could be unkind or I felt out of place, but I was given some guidance on where I would fit in better, without the unnecessary drama. Being in Old Town, I was familiar with nearby schools like West Potomac, Mount Vernon, and Bishop Ireton. During my visits, I would often take an Alexandria cab or use Metro Access, being discreet about my disability since I felt embarrassed at times. Being a regular meant navigating the tourist scene, and there were people who seemed territorial about the place, but I ended up doing quite well when I sold my house. Good times continued with events like watching RG3 play for the Redskins or meetups organized by JT. I enjoyed New Year’s celebrations and weekend outings. I also frequented other establishments like Flying Fish before it closed, and O'Shaughnessy's before I decided to stop drinking. This is a sports bar located near a bicycle shop, close to the Ben & Jerry's I used to work at, along with many other walkable bars for bar hopping, like Union Street Pub and Fish Market. It can be a great place to have fun, but with the good comes some downsides. Overall, I felt well-hosted and respected here, despite some things I was not initially aware of or didn’t want to uncover."

"My friends and I went to Cheesetique for restaurant week. We sat outside. The space was great, the weather was great. Upon arrival, it took a server about 15 minutes to come to our table, and that was only after a friend went inside to ask for someone to service us. The server who had served our friends, who had arrived 10 minutes prior, was bartending. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. The drinks came out relatively soon after. The food took a normal amount of time to come out of the kitchen. We got the watermelon, quinoa salad and truffle balls as apps. There was no dressing with the salad, just spinach leaves, watermelon, and quinoa. It was very basic. The truffle balls, although good, were balls of cheese. They gave huge cheese balls but only 3 tiny pieces of bread. We ordered a Mac and cheese for the table which was not salted very well at all. For the main course, we ordered gnocchi, pot pie, and braised beef. The beef and mashed potatoes were the best. The pot poe and gnocchi were not nearly salted enough. All the food came out 'warm ' at best. Dessert was fine. Overall, not at all worth the amount we paid for restaurant week. We were left disappointed. The service was slow. I do understand they might have been short staffed, but even waitresses who were not our servers looked as us, after being there for 15 min and walked past. We asked someone to get us water, which was never brought to us, so overall, disappointed in our dining experience, considering how much we paid."
