"The dining options are limited, very limited, on Bald Head Island, but fortunately what is available is surprisingly good, especially surprising given the beach resort nature of the island. Restaurants in area such as this are very often much overpriced, and usually are significantly lacking in quality of food preparation and service. This little place was a pleasant experience, not inexpensive, but pleasant.. We ate here 3 times during our visit to the island, and all 3 times the food and service was very good. The restaurant describes itself as a New World Cantina serving Mexican food with a Spanish Cuban flair, and they pretty much pull it off. All the dishes seem to have a slight twist to the traditional Mexican approach, making the food interesting, appealing, and very tasty. We tried the Trio of Dips $9) Salsa, Guacamole, Queso and all were very nice, and the serving was well sized. The Nachos $8.95) consisted of chips, Black Beans,Lettuce, Pico de Gallo, Guacamole, Crema Fresca, Jalapenos, Salsa, Cotija a salty, crumbling Mexican cheese) no meat, at all. This is a huge dish also, easily shared among 3 or 4 people, and is full of flavor. The Pescado Especial $13) features a fish that is fresh and available, so it changes frequently. When we tried it the fish was Swordfish, and it was fresh, and cooked perfectly, and came with a nice, tangy Vera Cruz Sauce, and included Black Beans Spanish Rice. We also tried a variety of Tacos 3 for $13) fish, grilled shrimp, and carnitas were our choices. These are street style tacos, and were absolutely delicious, especially the carnitas. The Churraso Cubano $13) was excellent this is marinated, grilled flank steak with a chimichurri sauce, Spanish Rice, Black Beans, and Plantains. We also tried the Carnitas Al Horno $11) with Black Beans Spanish Rice, and the dish is excellent. The Carnitas here are as good as it gets tender and full of flavor. We actually tried them in several different dishes and combinations, and all were excellent. To change things up at one lunch, we tried the Jalapeno Jack Cheeseburger $10), and this was a great burger, with a very nice grade of ground beef, and a nice mixture of heat spice. The house Margarita $6) is excellent as well. They make their own sour mix in house, and it is very good. We enjoyed the meals at this restaurant, would not hesitate to eat there again and would go there if it were in our town."

It used to be much better. We waited 75 minutes for two large cheese pizzas that cost $78. That’s unacceptable. Please improve your service.

Horrible Guac $75 for 4 dishes, including 2 quesadillas, nachos and a burrito. Food was decent I guess but the quac was gross, like slimy pea soup. How can a Mexican restaurant have guacamole this bad?

Good Mexican food. It is on Bald Head Island as the only real option for Mexican food. I always opt for a burrito bowl and also enjoy the Nachos quite a bit. Decent beer and wine selection available to accompany your meal. View menu

Outstanding customer service. The staff is friendly and the food was delicious. I recommend the Luna?s Quesadilla or the Battleship Burrito. Went back for pizza which was just as good! This place does it all. Can?t wait to visit again soon

We went on 11-7. Staff was polite, chips were crisp and margarita was good. BUT- veggie quesadilla was beans and onions only, soft taco was wet do could not pick up and guac was runny. More like green sauce. Worst restaurant for us this year.

There aren't many choices for restaurants on Bald Head Island. Delphinas staff is very friendly. You can catch a glimpse of the ocean and the sunset off the outside patio. The food is good, mostly Mexican food, and although it's not 5 star quality, it'stasty and fresh. Will not hesitate to go back. View menu

The view is amazing, service was perfect, and lunch food was delicious. I ordered a burrito bowl with mahi and shrimp. It was healthy and delicious! The serving was the perfect amount of food with a good ratio of toppings. Our friend got the enchiladas and he said they were so good it made his left eye twitch (have to laugh at that one). We all ordered a round of drinks and they were made to perfection!

This place is advertised as an upscale restaurant for bald head. It isn't. The food is at best mediocre and I think I'm being generous. Whatever you do-do not order the queso, unless you love flavorless possibly powdered cheese. The chicken tacos seemed to be boiled chicken and no other flavor necessary. The bar service was slow. The bill high. The atmosphere sad and slightly dirty feeling and the food flavorless. I love going on vacation and not cooking but this place has given me no choice. And if I'm the better alternative for meals-we are all in trouble!

"I have not left more than one or two reviews on google before but I had to say something after our experience here for the first and only time. This has earned a spot on our top three worst restaurant meals. We are not extremely picky eaters and were looking for a basic dinner with friends after a day at the beach. My husband and I ordered the fish and chips thinking that is always a safe bet at any coastal restaurant to be decent/hard to mess up however when it arrived it stank so badly of old fish I couldn’t even take more than a bite. This was fried fish mind you and it still smelled horrible. The bite I did take was absolutely awful and almost made me sick-I had to push the plate to the far side of the table. It tasted like it had definitely gone bad. My plate was 20 my husband’s with shrimp was 40 and neither of us ate our dinner. The server then came to our table at the end and said she automatically applied a 23% gratuity to our party of six table but that we could always add more tip if we wanted which seemed pretty bold given that she commented we hadn’t eaten our food. Our friend who had celiacs also waited ten minutes beyond when we were served for her salad which was 25$ and was straight romaine lettuce leaves with four or so cherry tomatoes and that was all. She was handed a hidden valley ranch packet and told that was the dinner size salad. Once tip was paid that experience came to 80$. Once we left my husband and I went back to our beach house and ate Costco hot dogs to try and redeem the night. Never again. Edit to owner response: We dined on October 26th around 8pm, we don’t remember the server name but can provide receipts from the night."
