"This place is one of our favorite places in town. We go here for special occasions and oftentimes just because we are feeling like a really great meal. Love the ambiance, the food, the servers and especially the chefs. They have a fairly small menu, but there is always something for everyone. Meat eaters, vegetarians, etc. and it's all amazingly delicious. They also have great small plates that you can share, or if you're in the mood for something lighter . There is also a lovely back patio to sit out on for warm nights or one of the many gorgeous Ojai days. Definitely one of our picks to take out of town visitors."

The penne with spinach was much too spicy for my liking, though some people might enjoy it.

Terrific food and lovely ambience. Owner went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and take care of.

Very mediocre. Terrible bread, like spongy white loaf. Poor chiopino, like tomato sauce, with the bad bread again. I would skip this place.

The experience was quite mediocre. The bread was terrible, resembling spongy white leaves. The cioppino was disappointing, mostly tasting like tomato sauce, paired with the same bad bread. I would recommend skipping this restaurant. View menu

First time to Ojai, first time to Feast, and would definitely eat there again. The open kitchen makes the whole experience come right to your table (if you're near the front), and the affability of the staff chefs is a definite plus. The duck and the lamb ragu were excellent, though the duck breast skin could benefit from more crispiness.

We felt that we had the [very creative] chef sitting at our table her kitchen was that open. Several of the other diners were asking her questions about ingredients and cooking methods. Great fun! Entrees included some never before encountered flavors (e.g., shrimp scampi inside ravioli pillows), service was knowledgeable and friendly. Will return.

We discovered Feast while searching for a restaurant in Ojai last winter. The place is cozy, and the menu features a diverse selection that evolves with the seasons. They have a concise wine list with great options that are reasonably priced. We've visited a few times, and each experience has been enjoyable. The mussels appetizer appears to be a staple on the menu and is absolutely delicious. View menu

Was in OJAI on business. Had a very enjoyable dinner with a colleague. The food was all well prepared and showed creativity. Staff and chef were all very friendly and created a welcoming environment. I started with a salad that used a peanut dressing, sort of like Sichuan noodles but with salad instead of noodles. It worked very well. Moved onto the airline chicken breast which couldn't have been prepared better. My dining partner had a flat bread and salad both of which she like immensely.

We have visited Feast Bistro countless times since we are locals. Our most recent dining experience took place on Halloween. The autumn atmosphere was palpable, and the seasonal menu perfectly captured the essence of the season. We enjoyed a delightful pappardelle pasta with lamb ragu and ravioli in a sage brown butter sauce. We relished every delicious bite and appreciated the reasonably priced wine. Susan and Beryl, along with the staff, were always gracious and welcoming. Feast Bistro is truly a hidden gem in Ojai that should not be overlooked.

"We just moved to Ojai and asked the neighbors for a dinner recommendation. It ended us at Papa Lennon's and boy were we happy about it! It was a quick 10 minute drive from our new house. The front was super cute and welcoming. There was parking right across the street. We arrived around 5:45 and there were a few open seats on the patio; a moderate hustle and bustle of people enjoying a local favorite spot. There was a small party outdoors at one of the long tables and lots of other friends and families getting together. Every dish that was brought out was beautiful, smelled fantastic and was absolutely fresh looking. I'm sure there is no way to go wrong here since all the ingredients are so fresh and the food is clean. I had the vegetable panini which was bomb. The focaccia bread here is a must. The side salad with honey vinaigrette was a yummy treat as well. My fiancé had the bbq chicken pizza and was astounded by how fresh the ingredients felt and tasted. My father in law had the meatball sub which he said could have had a little more flavor but still delicious. The fries were great. My mother in law had the chicken vegetable soup which came out right away, and all of us were mouth watering over it. It smelled and tasted delicious. That's a must order when I come back next time. We weren't sure how things worked here. So we walked in and quickly gathered it was an order and then sit kind of restaurant. So we went to the vine walled patio (which was super pleasant and warmed with heaters and got a table while one of us ordered at the front. Then our food came out one by one at different times. The vegetable panini took the longest, arriving about 5 minutes after the preceding dish (the meatball sub and bbq pizza . Well worth the wait though. I can't wait to come back here : it's a special spot."

"This review is tough to write because of how conflicted I feel about Hip Vegan. We are up in Ojai for my birthday weekend and decided to try Hip Vegan. We first came in on Friday and had the best experience. Manuel (I believe was his name was so friendly and helpful. He provided menu suggestions, answered all our questions, and made our night. I had their delicious potato tacos special and my husband had a great jackfruit burrito. Today, we had friends joining us in town and since our experience was so positive the day before, we decided to bring them all to Hip Vegan for lunch. They didn’t have the same potato tacos available, so I attempted to ask the server at the counter (female, long dark hair a few clarifying questions as this was only my second time eating there. Right off the bat, I could tell the server was irritated. She was curt, terse, and quite frankly rude. I initially asked if it was possible to turn the jackfruit burrito into a bowl (I can’t eat gluten and my husband raved out it the night before she bluntly said no. I asked for clarification and she bluntly said we don’t do that here. I then inquired about her opinion on one of the specials they had listed (lime in a coconut and she bluntly stared “It’s a salad”. Again, it was already clear this server was in a bad mood but I did need to order so I politely asked that she work with me in order to find something I could eat. She reluctantly confirmed I could add the jackfruit I wanted to a black bean bowl (very similar to if she had just agreed to turn the jackfruit burrito into a bowl… which I ordered, along with the spicy noodles special for my husband and a couple drinks (both from their tap . Our friends ordered after me (two separate orders and told me when we sat down immediately after I left counter the server began badmouthing me to her coworkers (why? . We all sat outside (lovely patio and the same grouchy brunette brought our friends drinks, then food, and avoided eye contact with me the whole time (again, why? . After about 5 minutes following our friends receiving their complete order, our drinks had not even been brought out (again, I ordered before any of my friends The next time the grouchy brunette passed by, I asked for the status of our drinks. She sort of smirked and walked away. It was very odd. At this point my husband was done with her strange rudeness and went inside to talk to another employee about the situation. The other employee apologized and immediately brought out our whole order. The whole experience with this woman tainted what should have been such a great birthday afternoon. I don’t know what this woman’s problem was, but she should not be in a customer facing role. If it weren’t for her, this review would be 5 stars."
