"Pardon me, I do not eat this food regularly. I may get things wrong with this cuisine, and I will get this out of the way early, I did cheat a bit to finish this by using a fork, and I did use two hands to eat some of this. There, if you want to judge me for my transgressions and sins towards this cuisine, I will not be offended. I guess that would be like seeing you eat pizza with a knife and a fork.My eating habits notwithstanding, this restaurant, which does not seat many people, has some tasty food. All the stews are beautiful and have some superb flavor, the injera is easy to digest and works well (albeit the amount I received is fairly minimal). Even the honey wine pairs up well, but take your time drinking this. The staff is nice, but a tad judgmental. Again, I do not eat this on a regular basis. Forgive me for I have sinned against some of this food, and perhaps may have offended people because I eat this like a slob. However, work with me and show me how I can improve. Small criticisms aside, all in all it is a tasty dinner and have no real qualms about anything in particular."

I tried Ethiopian cuisine for the first time, and I absolutely loved it! The flavors were rich and delicious, and the owners were incredibly warm and welcoming. I will definitely be returning. Vegetarian options: There are plenty of vegetarian dishes to choose from!

Absolutely delicious Ethiopian food and you get quite a good amount of food for a good price. The sisters who own and run the place are so charming and clearly love what they do. We had a wonderful time and would absolutely recommend this surprising gem. We will definitely return. View menu

We visited for dinner on a Wednesday and were promptly seated. We shared a meat and vegetable platter, which was rich in flavor and ample enough for two people! We also sampled the honey wine; while it wasn’t my favorite on its own, it complemented the food nicely. Overall, I think the restaurant offers great value and provides a pleasant spot for a quick, satisfying dinner.

Wowowowowowowwwww!!!Can I just say I loved this place so much I went back 3 days later!!The food is amazing. You eat with your hands so if that's not for you.. something to consider before going. But step out of your comfort zone.. you'll be SO glad you did!!The most amazing thing outside of the flavors and quality of the food is that the warm and welcome ladies serving you are the ones who made the food themselves! It feels intimate. I couldn't recommend it enough. It's not super fancy, but perfect for like a 2nd or 3rd date before getting drinks.

Can't believe I haven't rated this place yet. We have been going here for years now. Absolutely the best ethiopian food in the city(and we have tried all of them! Every single dish is delicious and to the point! Every meal over here is comfort food! And the ladies that run this place are the best! Feels like a home away from home every time! Choose any dish, you just can't go wrong but make sure you try their Shiro! They also have a selection of ethiopian beers and honey wine which compliment the food perfectly! Would highly HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone, specially vegetarian folks! View menu

The Ethiopian food here is excellent, but due to the small staff, the service can be inconsistent. However, the two women working there are extremely friendly and kind! We visited on a Saturday night with a party of two and had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. We ordered all the vegetarian options and started with the lentil sambusa, both of which were delicious! I particularly enjoyed the chickpeas, collard greens, and string beans. We also tried the honey wine (which tasted exactly as you would expect) and the authentic beer. One thing to note is that it was quite warm inside; they have only one window AC unit, which struggled to keep the restaurant cool with people coming and going.

I hate that I can’t give this place 5 stars. The staff was warm and welcoming upon entering and our reservation was honored, so things were off to a good start. Then things went downhill. As someone very familiar with Ethiopian cuisine (in DC), I expected because of the great reviews an even better experience and quality than what I’m used to.Sadly, the food took almost half an hour to come out, my table was neglected afterward, and the food and injera were quite literally drowning in pools of oil (which also happened to permanently ruin the shirt I was wearing). The portion sizes for each dish were also on the smaller side.It being NY, the food was also double the price I typically pay in DC...

"We went to Bread N Wine on a early Saturday afternoon for brunch. We were greeted and seated by the servers who were attentive. The food was okay the bread was really soft and fresh. My partner got the French Lentil Soup, Spinach and Tomato Egg Bake andI got the French onion soup, egg omelette with spicy tomato avocado and onions. I wasn 't happy with my omelette because thespicy just meant it was covered in hot sauce within. For beverages, we got chai lattes (we later found out it wasn 't tea basedbut rather coffee) and we had the option of oat milk, almond milk or regular milk. In terms of our overall experience we feltby the end too many things were steering the experience south; the worst was when we were accused of using counterfeit money topay for the tip. There was no special marker used to prove that the money was counterfeit or technology to back up this claim. That experience alone left a bad taste in our mouth as we left embarrassed by that claim, kind of shook from that, we stilladded the tip to our credit card 18%. As we walked out and talked about how weird that was, the owner of the business nextdoor overheard us and asked to see the $20 bill he showed us that our money was real and validated what we knew, that themoney wasn 't counterfeit. When we went back into Bread N Wine to discuss this there was no apology, just well, it felt thatway , shrug. It left a terrible feeling. We would not go back after that, this is not how you treat customers from start tofinish, hence the 2 star review."
