"We have eaten at Hau Tree probably times over the years. The location is amazing but this time the food was inedible. Two of us ordered the short ribs and not even a steak knife could cut through them. They were absolutely disgusting, The food has never been the reason to eat here but this was a whole new level of awful. Please Mauna Kea revamp this restaurant. Fix the menu, food quality and service it was very busy and our poor waitress was running from table to table and had no one helping her clear dishes, bring drinks, etc. It’s such a great spot but we won’t be back unless the food significantly improves"

Hau Tree overlooks one of the most special beaches in Hawaii; Mauna Kea Beach! It is part of the Mauna Kea Beach Resort. The menu is simple and somewhat limited but there were several very good small plate choices that were fresh and delicious. Sunset on the beach was exquisite!! View menu

The server provided outstanding service, enhancing our overall experience. However, the limited menu was disappointing. The fish tacos had good flavor but lacked a sufficient amount of mahi mahi. Each taco only contained one small piece of fish, filling only half of the tortilla. This was the case for all three tacos, making it a bit skimpy for the price of $26.

Private concierge trying out their dinner. Specialty drinks served in to go cups but beer was served in a more hardy outdoor glass. No glass China plastic plates etc makes sense since it is right behind the beach. I saw the servers bring out things that weren’t on the dinner menu tacos and burger. If these are available why not put them on the menu for everyone to know? Dessert menu not our favorite
