The sausage was the star of the show. Crispy casing...yum! Collards were well cooked but could have used more of a kick. It's a do over. They have garage type doors that were open so we felt like we were sitting outside. Note... Don't try to get here when their Utica Unicorns are playing baseball. We're making a point of leaving before the game is over. Luke was the bomb.

Tried this place for the first time. It was ok, I think we went on a off night. I had the nachos with pulled pork but they forgot the pork. When I told our server she made it right and brought me a bowl. My kids did not like any of the bbq sauces. My hubs had the sliders and he really liked them. He ordered a salad and it never came. We were pretty much the only people at the time eating. So in a nutshell it was ok not spectacular or terrible just ok.

First Off I am a BBQ snob from Kansas City and I have a high standard, but I try to keep an open mind. A friend gushed about this place and it is near my home so my wife and I had lunch their recently. The Ribs had good smoked flavor but a bit too much rub. The Cole Slaw was ok, but should have been colder. Liked the fries and their variety of sauces. My wife had the brisket sandwich. She liked it. I wished I could have tried it. Its a great location and great look-and-feel on the first level. They have a small but solid draft selection and its always 100% Michigan beer. The wait staff were always friendly and attentive in my past experiences. This time much more standoffish. The food overall, i 've always gotten the Mac 'N Cheese with delicious smoked meats. For the past few years its been nothing but consistent awesomeness. This past time the Mac N Cheese was a let down. The cheese sauce seemed watered down. The meat wasnt as good. Their bbq sauces are always tasty. But overall I left with disappointment. I hope the quality can pick back up again.

Overall, service was good, veggies looked fresh, sauces were all above average, but the meats and their preparation were subpar. Maybe a good spot to grab a drink but I would avoid their smoked products. Decided to try for the first time after driving past it nearly everyday. The last time we tried was during a power outage so we were really looking forward to it. We went in for an early dinner on a Wednesday and were the only guests in the place which was actually really nice. The service was quick and attentive. Our server gave us all kinds of suggestions and was honest about what she liked and didn't like on the menu which was helpful. The owner assured us that the entire upstairs would be exclusively for us and our guests, which was fantastic because it included a bar, a sound system, and a small dance area by the window. If you come on a random weekday night, don’t be alarmed by the lack of crowds. Downtown Utica struggles to draw in patrons, which is puzzling to me. While parking can be a hassle, Hogs Hollow has an adjacent parking lot and plenty of street parking. Perhaps their marketing could use some improvement; on non-weekend nights, the place might look completely empty. Still, I appreciate the quick seating and no wait for a drink. I have to say, my experience at this BBQ joint hasn’t improved since my last visit—if anything, it was a bit worse. My dad and I decided to give it another go, but I still walked away feeling just "meh." During my previous visit, the owner mentioned that their smoker was broken, but I was hoping for a better outcome this time around.
