"We went to this restaurant prior to going to see a show at the Rady Shell. The location in the Hilton is very convenient to the Shell. The restaurant’s menu has limited options and is fairly pricey. I thought it would mean that the food would be excellent. We ordered an appetizer, a main course and some wine. Initially the waiter was attentive and brought our drinks and some water for the table. The experience went downhill from there. Our appetizer and main entre were served at the same time and the food was cold. While the flavor of the food was ok it was nothing spectacular. We asked to share one entre and the waiter did nkt even bring an extra plate. For the price, I was disappointed in the food quality and service. Such a disappointment. I would not return."

Yikes. Menu items are tough and $150 for a prime rib served by people in jeans and dirty sneakers? Absolutely not.

Given the limited menu options, I opted for a different protein instead of my first choice, chicken jidori. However, I have to say, this was one of the best chicken jidori dishes I've ever tasted, and I would definitely order it again. The service was fantastic, too! View menu

Christmas dinner with my husband and daughter. Food was okay, nothing really stood out however. Service was prompt and friendly. Wine and beer list was good. Desserts were lacking. Host was unpleasant and walked so far ahead of us we weren’t sure where our table was. When we asked for a highchair she told us our server would get it even though we walked passed several on our way to the table.

Our family gathered for brunch at Hudson Nash, enjoying a meal on the terrace with a stunning view of the bay. The soft, pleasant music in the background added to the ambiance. The staff quickly took our orders, refilled our water glasses, and ensured our drinks were topped off. Our meals were not only beautifully presented but also delicious. While the parking was a bit pricey, the restaurant validated our ticket for three hours, which was greatly appreciated. We even had time for a lovely stroll along the coast after our wonderful meal. It was an excellent experience, and I highly recommend this restaurant!

"I adore this restaurant. Golden Hill is filled with many many quality eateries, and Counterpoint anchors the neighborhood with it's fun atmosphere and dedication to quality. They recently renovated and the new space is open, airy and provides a variety of seating options: bar seating, restaurant seating, and upper balcony (I use this as a quiet place to WFH during the week), and an outdoor patio. I'm partial to the biscuit and gravy for breakfast, but the brined chicken and waffles or breakfast hash always makes me smile and sends me unto the world with a better outlook on life and a doggie bag. When it's hot, delicious crunchy salads are on the lunch menu and the craft beers and unique slushy flavors change. Counterpoint takes the quality of food and libations seriously. The craft cocktails rotate as the bartenders are encouraged to explore and grow. The owner and team are always warm, welcoming and make sure you have a good experience. Did I mention they are DOG friendly? Definitely worth the trip up the hill from downtown if you're looking to wind down after an event or precharge and eat before a baseball game. I love to bring my friends for a snack (try the olive selection) and chat on a twilight night. Space heaters outside if you get cold. Fans inside if you get warm. Honestly if you live in or are visiting the 92102 area code you should go to Counterpoint: good food, really good cocktails, and great company. It is clear that this establishment cares about quality, cares about your comfort and loves if you have a good time."
