"My husband and I were SUPER excited to try KP, I’m a big foodie and I love supporting local businesses. We had the opportunity to dine here, and while the website said nothing about a reservation or how to make one, they made us feel VERY awkward for not having one. I mean three separate employees came up and asked us if we had one and we explained we didn’t see where it was needed on the website, they said “yeah, well most people call.” in a condescending way. Like ok, we’re sorry? Lol. Anyway the food was phenomenal. We ordered the hummus for our starter, and I had the chicken marsala and my husband had the salmon. The Marsala was so rich and delicious and the salmon my husband had was full of flavor. Would have loved to give a perfect 5 but wasn’t expecting to feel awkward af lol I came here with a friend to give it another shot. We made a reservation this time! I was very excited to take my friend and the food was less than impressive. I got the bone in ribeye and asked for it to be cooked medium. It was severely under cooked and the brussel sprouts were so crunchy they were inedible. Also the plating was horrendous. I understand I got a large steak but it was literally a huge chunk of meat just thrown on the plate. My friend had the Alfredo with chicken and the chicken was so so so dry. Unfortunately we will not be going back to KP."

Trish was very knowledgeable and attentive. She was very patient with our goofy party of five. Food was very good, atmosphere was comfortable. We will be back, great to see there is a good restaurant downtown Battle Creek.

Excellent food, probably the best restaurant in battle Creek in regards to the quality of the food. The wait staff was knowledgeable about the food and service was excellent. The ambiance is nice and warm with an open kitchen.

Lobster Mac sauce was bland, watered down, and overwhelmed with chunks of soft sundried tomatoes. The lobster was extremely chewy and void of flavor. Very disappointed for a $30+ entree. Would give this place another chance as it does appear to be very busy and popular in the area. View menu

Alexis was incredible, the service impeccable, we enjoyed every dish especially the MUSSELS YOU MUST GET THE MUSSELS. Peach cheesecake is going to win over anyone even if you dont love cheesecake you will LOVE this one. Ribeye was cooked perfectly as was the pork chop. You will never regret having dinner here

Kitchen Proper is so aptly named because everything is done properly to a T. I’ve only been twice now, but everything was so spot on both times. The ingredients are so fresh, the cocktails are well balanced, the service is phenomenal. I could go on and on about how well thought out and well executed their menu is, but I’ll cut it short and say this is the best restaurant in Battle Creek, bar none.

Great! Solid 4.6. Kelsey is top notch; knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly, with great timing. The Smoked Gouda starter is a delicious spectacle that you should absolutely get. The Full Belly Wedge is a salad that can easily feed two, with the most tender and smoky/charred pork belly. The Cappelini is probably the best spaghetti you 're gonna find in the area. Period. Atmosphere is dark but inviting with a great view of the kitchen and chefs, whom are awesome and do a phenomenal job. I 'm looking forward to the rest of their menu. I could easily see myself returning (and I will) several times a year for a nice night out or special occasion. View menu

Kitchen Proper continues to impress as one of the finer dining options in the area. Nicely crafted menu and daily specials, well qualified staff and a limited number of tables which makes the quality and service better overall for guests. I recommend reservations especially if you have a larger group. There are a few two-seat high tables by he kitchen which is good for better/more frequent eye contact if you need a server’s attention. Restrooms are clean/spacious. Parking on city street parking in the back or across the street is convenient. The outdoor area can get cold and out of sight for servers but is a nice option on warm days. Accessibility to the indoors can be a little challenging f...

Best dining experience I’ve ever had, the food is a bit expensive but absolutely worth it, staff have been very friendly every visit, after my first visit a few of them even remembered me, and the waitress even remember what I had ordered the first time even tho the visits were more than a month apart, they are very accommodating when I had failed to make plans for Valentine’s Day and when I called them the day of they were completely booked but still made room for me and my girlfriend to come in, the crab cakes are my favorite thing on the menu, this was the last restaurant that me and my girlfriend had gone to before I got deployed back in April, and it is also the first place me and her w...
