"My husband and I decided to make reservations for a date night here. We weren 't sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a really fun adventure. Our server, Hunter, offered us a tour of all 3 floors while we waited for our food since we were asking so many questions. He told us about some quick facts about the historic building and let us take a look around. He was very hospitable and was nice enough to take his time to chat with us and deal with our jokes. The scallops were delicious. The entrees were pretty simple, but were tasty. We thought the food was a bit over salted, but we will go again in the future to see if it was a one-off. Overall, the atmosphere was very romantic, and it felt like we were able to time travel for a few hours and enjoy each other 's company. I had the 'Saint Jacques et Risotto au champignon et truffle ' as a small plate, and then for our Bigger Plates, we chose the 'Steak Frites ' and the 'Steak d 'élan avec ses légumes ' (elk). You need to go down to the 'cave ' bar and check out the bathroom. I wanted to take a picture, but you can just see for yourself!"

Chef Ben is BOMB! We went for an early dinner to take our time and so glad we did. The peacock room was gorgeous to gather and share bites of all the amazing food we ordered. After dessert it was Le Cave for a few more cocktails. Sit at the bar, watch the bartenders work their magic and enjoy the show. I'm making Le Chateau a regular on my schedule for sure. Go! You won't be disappointed!

You know you've had a great meal when you wake up in the morning and your first thought is about the leftovers! Our meal was so delicious that I even had cold squash risotto for breakfast, and it was fantastic! Thank you for making my birthday dinner so memorable. We began our evening at Le Cave and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We were too full for dessert, but we'll definitely be back soon to "complete our dinner!"

I enjoyed a smoked old fashioned and crème brûlée at The Cave. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the bartenders were friendly and knowledgeable; they were true mixologists experimenting with new recipes during our visit. The crème brûlée was good, but not exceptional, and my wife found her sangria to be just alright. I’m giving it 5 stars for the attention to detail and the high-quality ingredients. I would have loved to try more from the menu. View menu

I went to happy hour at le cave and it was amazing! Our bartender made us custom drinks and was so friendly. The atmosphere is incredible in the lower bar. You feel like you went back in time to a French style speakeasy! I think what I love most is how casual OR fancy you can be in the downstairs bar. There are intimate spaces or room for a whole group. Highly recommend! Bring friends, significant others, and maybe even coworkers for a happy hour cocktail after work.

Amazing experience at Le Chateau! We made dinner reservations to celebrate our anniversary and were blown away at the atmosphere and quality of food. The wine was incredible, the craft cocktails in La Cave were fantastic, our appetizers (French onion soup and snails) were delicious, our mains (elk and duck) were perfectly portioned and cooked, and the desserts (lavender crème brûlée and a key lime tart) were literally the best we’ve had in our lives. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful, cozy, and delicious fine dining experience.

Upscale French dining experience. The owner has a delightful French accent. The dining areas are small so you are never in a loud environment. The food was great. I had the Elk. So good! We had a pretty view of the back yard complete with flowers pool and fountain. The wine list was great. Not the usual poor wines that spend more on advertising than what goes in the bottle. We arrived early and went down to Le Cave for cocktails. The spiral stairs were fun. The craft cocktails were spectacular. This is a good choice if you want an experience more unique than most. I had an incredible experience at Le Chateau! We made dinner reservations to celebrate our anniversary, and we were truly impressed by the atmosphere and the quality of the food. The wine selection was remarkable, and the craft cocktails in La Cave were excellent. Our appetizers, which included French onion soup and snails, were delicious. For our main courses, we had elk and duck, both of which were perfectly cooked and served in just the right portions. The desserts, lavender crème brûlée and key lime tart, were hands down the best we’ve ever tasted. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a beautiful, cozy, and exceptional fine dining experience. 10/10!

Le Chateau has a bar in the basement called La Cave. It has an amazing atmosphere. People are dressed from casual to formal. Anything goes. You enter by desending down a spiral staircase. The service is impeccable. Watching the bartenders make drinks was half the fun. The drink menu is very unique and was so good. You can get appetizers from the restaurant upstairs. We had the caramelized onion tart. It was a flaky puff pastry, topped with caramelized onions, confit tomatoes and chèvre. It was delicious! This is definitely on my must stop list when visiting La Crosse. The experience is so unique. You feel as if you are in Europe, not western Wisconsin. You won't be disappointed.

"My spouse and I dined at Pogreba, in La Crosse, Wisconsin, in early May. Our entire experience was excellent, and we highly recommend Pogreba. They accept reservations for parties of two. Some of the other La Crosse restaurants do not. My spouse had the lamb wellington. The lamb was cooked perfectly pink, well seasoned, and the puff pastry was light and flaky. An excellent sized portion. The house salad was also excellent. My spouse was very happy with their selection. I had the Special, which was a red curry seafood with pasta dish it was out of this world. Chock full of scallops, shrimp and salmon, in a wonderfully creamy sauce that was seasoned perfectly, had a good depth of flavor, and served over pasta/noodles. Also a very generous portion I ended up taking leftovers back with me. I had the Caesar salad with anchovies, and that was yummy as well. For dessert, we shared the strawberry tiramisu, also a generous portion, and delicious just the right balance of sweet, but not overly sweet. Jenna was our server, and she was absolutely delightful professional, warm, welcoming, and friendly; and a joy to talk to. She checked on us often, as did a very nice hostess. We felt well attended to, the food was excellent, and the entire experience absolutely wonderful. We highly recommend Pogreba in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Next time we are in La Crosse, we will definitely return there."
