"My husband and I discovered this restaurant years ago when we first visited Portland, Maine and decided to come here again for our trip with friends since it was an amazing experience last time! As soon as you enter their restaurant, you 're immediately 'wowed ' by their interior setup with open kitchen view and space. We started off with some cocktails (I tried the Beach Fire #2 and few appetizers to start things off. Their Deviled Eggs are my absolute favorite and can honestly eat an infinite amount of them! Next, we tried their charcuterie board my favorite was definitely their patés (so good . Finally for our entrée, we shared the seafood paella. All the seafood on this dish was cooked to perfection and the rice tasted amazing! It 's definitely one of their best menu items : Overall, Local 188 never disappoints us with their food and drink. Will definitely be coming back here again for my next trip to Portland! Also recommended for a date night :"

Love Local188 overall but this time… It wasn’t very busy and the service was lacking. Slow drinks, condiments forgotten and the eggs (all 7 of ours) were very very salty.

Went there for dinner after my sons wedding. The food was amazing. The atmosphere was wonderful. The staff was very accommodating. But I think a little overwhelmed by the number of ppl in our party. My meal was almost forgotten. We had to remind the wait staff. That said. They were busy and I guess possibly under staffed. I still recommend the restaurant.

Outstanding! Fist time in Main. We were able to sit at the bar seats in front of the chef’s area…awesome for a front row view of all the action. Our server Jaq was very attentive and helpful with suggestions, she was doing several jobs in the restaurant and still had time to make sure we were taken care of. We talked to owner who made sure we were enjoying the experience. We may go back tomorrow morning for breakfast. A definite must experience when in Portland. View menu

My husband and I had seen this restaurant several times walking in Longfellow Square and so we finally decided we were going to have dinner and so happy that we did! The food was amazing the ambiance is low lit, cozy yet romantic. We ordered coffee and it was good but not robust enough for me although my husband enjoyed it. Also, the coffee could have been hotter after pouring creamer in it the coffee was warm not hot. Our server was fabulous and everything we ordered was just perfect!! This is going to be our New go to restaurant!

I’m a little bummed we were not made aware of the menu changes. While I am willing to try just about anything, I do have friends that wanted specific menu items. Holidays are hard eating at restaurants because you never know what changes will be made to the menu due to the traffic, I just wish it was advertised. Drinks were inconsistent, one drink served in a small glass jar, ordered a second of the same drink that came out in a glass twice the size, same price for both? Service wasnt great again understanding of it being a holiday and staffing issues, but for what we spent the food and service could have been better. Bummed because the vibe is everything you could ask for.
