"We went to Ruski's on Daytona 500 Sunday after two other pubs were not open. We were able to find street parking by the bar. When we went in the Manager and one of the patrons immediate engaged us in conversation. I ordered the Cheeseburger and my wife ordered the Nachos. I grew up in Southern Ohio so I am a big fan of Cincinnati Chili. This Chili tasted a little bit like that. Another patron said it was because it had allspice. I thought it was yummy and a little bit different from traditional Texas Chili. The Cheeseburger was just a good old bar burger and was delicious. They make their own coleslaw and it was marvelous. It was a little on the sweet side and reminded me of cole slaw I had at a little diner near where I grew up. I did not try it but they also make their own **** mary mix. The bartender told me they are known for their **** mary's. Ruski's also serves breakfast all day for those who prefer breakfast."

Awesome little place that is very popular with the locals. If you blink you might miss it but worth looking for. Very friendly atmosphere and delicious breakfast food. Good value! Don't let this one pass you by!

In the midst of Portland's competitive and wonderful food hierarchy, Ruski's will never be found on the list. It's welcome is famous and it's menu honest, affordable, and its local beer choices just right. A welcome oasis to have a calm friendly meal. View menu

Went there for breakfast and it was average food. Not great and and not terrible. Relatively inexpensive. The **** mary was kind of gross and I couldn't figure out why. The atmosphere itself makes it a trip worth taking. People crushing beer and onion rings at 9am. Decor is a treat as well.

Ruski's is one of my favorite breakfast places in Portland. Service is always good, and the portions are hearty and large. It's a bit off the beaten path, and, well, it is a tavern so not an obvious choice for breakfast. But don't let the location or venue dissuade you; Ruski's is a solid choice.

This. Bar/restaurant has been in Portland for 150 years. It is a cute neighborhood bar in the West End. Most of th chairs are stools but there are also some captain like chairs. The food is good along with the beer. The waitress was very nice and they are not In a hurry to rush you out. If you go expect numerous choices on the menu. This is not an upscale place but just a down home comfortable bar. I certainly go again. View menu

We stopped here for lunch after attending a sporting event nearby at the recommendation of someone who used to live in the area (west end). We wanted something local and memorable. Was a great suggestion! Lots of charm, great food, friendly service and good selection of beers. We had no trouble finding parking on the street. It is small with combination bar type seating (stools, high tables) and also regular height tables with chairs. Fun menu with lots of unique choices. We all had different types of burgers, fries and onion rings. Unanimously loved!

We visited Ruski's 3 times in the 2 days we were renting a flat in the outskirts of Portland. Twice for adult beverages and once for breakfast. Great time every time. They serve a full menu breakfast, which we were surprised to hear and were a little skeptical about even after reading nice reviews, so we had to try it. We were not disappointed! Their Corn Beef Hash is some of the best I have ever had. The bartender/wait person was a little gruff at first, but quickly warmed up to our group. We all agreed that she was the best person for a bar serving breakfast! Excellent place to visit and to meet some locals!

"Boxcar Pizza does creative all vegan pizza done Detroit style. I am from NY and had plenty of pizza there in the day before I was vegan. Pizza and NY are synonymous. I would love to check out Screamer's Pizza in NY next time I am there.I have only had Detroit Pizza one other time and happened to be vegan. It was alright when I had it then. I have been to Detroit where the talented rapper Eminem is from. Detroit is where the pinball like running back legend Detroit Lion Barry Sanders played. Detroit is where I was in awe when I saw the Diego Rivera murals there. Detroit isn't known for it's pizza yet lately Detroit pizza seems to be getting popular.Detroit Pizza is like a cross between Sicilian and Chicago deep dish yet comes in a square with four slices. Boxcar Pizza was named best vegan pizza this past year in Veg News magazine so had great expectations coming here. Boxcar Pizza delivered! I went with the Viktor Vaughn pizza. The pizza came with mozzarella, cheddar, kale, red onions, ricotta, mama lil's peppers, and pesto. I got it with a side of red sauce for dipping which I recommend. The pizza was very tasty. Plenty of flavor. It was a bit rich and filling for plenty of vegan cheese was used. Perhaps a touch less vegan cheese and other pizza pies with more veggies would be nice. I like that this pizza had plenty of veggies on it. I just got this and was able to eat it all. Each pizza serves one to two depending on your appetite. If you come with a friend or spouse might be good to split one and order a Kale Caesar salad to share.Viktor Vaughn is the real name of Dr. Doom who happens to be the arch enemy of the Fantastic Four in the Marvel Comics. Viktor Vaughn is also a British rapper. There are many different kinds of pizza here and am so happy that a vegan pizza place delivers tasty vegan pizza. I hope they open up branches in other cities.Recommended!"
