"As Malaysian who is born and raised there I have to said food here almost authentic Malaysian food. I was amaze with sambal udang petai that is our classic dish in Malaysia and it’s not easy to master because when you cook sambal you have to separated oil from sambal we called it pecah minyak) and chef did very well. I am big fan of sambal petai udang it’s so hard to get one in USA but chef make it happen in Washington DC. Beef rendang was 10 10 with spices compliment each other and tender beef too. Ayam masak merah I would say maybe 7 10 for my liking because I can taste cardamom star anise quite strong for my taste buds but it’s still good . We order ayam goreng too and just hit the spot and salted egg duck yolk , that is how we cook in Malaysia. I order my nasi campur with coconut pandan rice and came together with regular rice. For dessert we order sago gula Melaka and Roti canai and custard dipping, oh that is the best part to finish our meals. So far this one of the best Malaysian restaurant I ever had in USA so far. Thank you chef for appreciate our food , it’s not easy to master Malaysian food as they are influence by Malay, Chinese , Indian, baba Nyonya peranakan. Chef really study about Malaysian food and how to cook from starch. I wish you have branch restaurant in California. I came Washington DC for visiting and I am surprised with Makan dc restaurant. I would like to try nasi lemak and roti canai but I will do when I come here again."

The food on the brunch menu was really good. I especially liked the coconut pandan. I also liked the Nasi Goreng. I wish they had more cocktail options.

I really enjoyed the outdoor seating arrangement. There's nothing like sitting outside in nice weather—it’s such a bonus. The service was excellent, and I liked most of the dishes I tried. I’ll definitely return to sample more items from the menu, especially the side plates and sauces, which look quite interesting!

Great food, exceptional experience, highly recommended. Food was delicious and we even had leftovers, though we only ordered 1 appetizer 2 entrees. The fried chicken was so good!! I'd go back just for that. Drinks were interesting and even though we ended up with the wrong one, our server did a great job of fixing that for us! View menu

The food here is of excellent quality and the ambiance is lovely. The house-made sambal is a must-try. Be cautious with the Hakka spicy noodles; they pack quite a punch, which affected my overall experience. The fried chicken with salted egg yolk is rich and very well prepared. I was torn between giving 4 and 5 stars, but I believe I simply chose the wrong dishes. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return!

We have to sit at outdoor area because indoor dining area was bloked for private event. Have to wait quite long before the only waiter can help us. There's other waitress/waiter too but look like they're busy set up for the event. Nasi Lemak was edible but not really on point. But fried kwetiau and fried rice taste good and made my day a little bit betterParking: Street Parking is free during weekend, but very difficult to find one ?

This restaurant has been on my list for quite some time now especially since its been added to Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand for 2021. The DMV has been missing a quality Malaysian place since Penang closed in Bethesda years ago. I made reservations earlier in the week for a large party. Due to the new DC covid restrictions you do have to show your ID and vaccine card when dining here. Some of the dishes we ordered were Char Kway Teow, eggplant, chicken/tofu satay, Nasi View menu

The food is good BUT their service and attitude totally destroyed our experience. The greeter 's attitude is super rude, she threw the menus on the table and said 'enjoy ' without an eye contact. At checkout, we paid by Apple pay and they charged us the wrong amount which is supposed to pay by abother table. And it took them nearly half an hour to figure that they should just give $15 back to us in the bank account. The atmosphere is awful without light at dinner, and TONS OF MOSQUITOES.would never comback again

I made a reservation through Google, and it was incredibly convenient. I absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. The food was fantastic, the service was exceptional, and the atmosphere was wonderful. The vibe is both stylish and laid-back. I would definitely give it more stars if I could. We ordered chicken satay, char kway teow, curry noodle soup, and chicken curry, and they were very accommodating to our dietary needs. We had asked for our soup to be spicy, but when it arrived, it was much too spicy for us. So we informed them about it.
