"This place wasn't the most comfortable to eat in. It was cold inside and not very comfortable/cozy. Also, when we went for dinner there were three vegetarian soup options left but two of them were made with chicken stock, so that really only left one option. The man that helped us was thoughtful enough to tell us they had chicken broth, but it would have been much better if they made all the vegetarian options truly vegetarian. There were about ten meat options so they could have easily skipped the chicken broth on those two. Having said the negatives, the food was amazing! The one soup option i had luckily was delicious, the sandwich was also fantastic, the wheat rolls that came with the soup were great. The service was also friendly."

Their soup was very tasty, but they have only one vegan soup per day. It's still good enough place for a vegan visiting Salem since it's conveniently located in the center. The staff upre also very helpful and nice!

although there was only one vegan option (more vegetarian), the vegan suppe was really delicious. it was about $7.50 for a small part and a crusty roll. would recommend a visit, the staff were friendly and helpful and the caffe itself is very cute View menu

menu on the board is clearly marked with VV designation vegan options. I had the lemony lens soup with wild rice that was sooo tasty (confide them to me, I had lentil soup hundreds of paints in my life). a 12 unzen suppe with a roll was $7.80 also had a half vegan hummus wrap on lakasch, which was simply still well done (Lawash wrap was a nice note that added structural integrity). that was quite full! would come back!

Also had half a vegan hummus wrap on lavash which was simple yet well executed (lavash wrap was a nice touch that added structural integrity). That altogether was very filling! Would definitely come again! View menu

a few years ago I updated my review to say that nesf has not yet to make me wrong. always 10/10 foolproof suppe. there is always at least one vegan option and several vegetarian options, and after here often for a few years I have never a single bad vegan suppe. the menu turns a lot and it could take a while to get the suppe in which they loved, but that's okay because I like to sort. their website is updated daily for the suppers they have. updated by previous review on 2019-04-16

Updating my review from several years ago to state that NESF has yet to do me wrong. Always 10/10 fool-proof soup. There is always at least one vegan option and several vegetarian options, and after going here often for a few years I have never had a single bad vegan soup. The menu rotates a lot and it might be a while before they get that soup you loved back in, but that’s okay because I like variety. Their website is updated daily for what soups they have. "I had found Settler on Yelp and I really wanted to eat here during our one day in Salem. After walking all day, Settler was out last stop on our day in the Witch City. I never anticipated to have my best culinary experience in Salem, but here I am telling the tale. Settler has a 3 course meal style of serving. We received the chef picked appetizers. I don?t have the exact names, but it was a ricotta style dip, a pumpkin hummus, and another dish that was like a falafel. It was all phenomenal. We also decided to get a cocktail called a Yusuf Highball. It was refreshing, light and exactly what we needed after a long day of ghost stories, witch trial history and people watching. Once we had our order taken, we had settled on a few different dishes. As a starter, I chose the shrimp and it was so insanely good. I could have easily kept eating that. My husband ordered the pate and he cleared his plate. I had the Spaghetti with clams. I really should have taken a picture of the menu to have the real dish names. This was the best pasta I have ever had. It was a white sauce base. It was fresh, decadent and yet light at the same time. My husband had the beef two ways. Both him and our friend raved about it. I had a piece and it was melt in your mouth delicious. My friend?s husband has the chicken and they both said it was delicious. Although we felt stuffed to the brim, we had to have dessert. We all shared the cheesecake and the chocolate tart. Both rich yet light. Aside from the incredible food, the people there were amazingly kind. We were able to be feet away watching the chef work with his team. This was something that truly stuck with me. We even wanted to know where they had gotten their cocktails stirrers from, and the chef showed us the link. This place was a true culinary experience. It was delicious, beautifully kept, and had wonderful people. The bartender also gave us wonderful recommendations for Maine. I do plan to come back to the Witch City and Settler i"
