"I never actually had the chance to eat at this restaurant, but my experience trying to locate it and purchase a gift certificate left much to be desired. A few years ago, I wanted to give my brother and his partner a gift certificate to Il Garage for Christmas. Despite hearing good and strange things about the place, I struggled to find it on Beach Boulevard. The confusing parking situation led me to Park Ave instead, which seemed to be somehow connected to Il Garage. After a series of misunderstandings and awkward interactions with the staff, I was finally able to purchase a gift certificate for $100. Unfortunately, both Park Ave and Il Garage are now closed, so my money may have gone to waste. Overall, the experience felt pretentious and outdated in all the wrong ways."

The food is so so, but for the prices they charge the quality should be much better. The cook/owner is ill-tempered and foul mouthed. Pass View menu

I am not sure why people are reporting this restaurant permanently closed, because it is not. The owner and chef, David Slay has been having renovations done to the restaurant during the pandemic. The restaurant will be reopening very soon. There's a sign outside the restaurant that confirms that. Please stop reporting misinformation.

My wife and I enjoyed many great meals here. It has a nice atmosphere, the food was always very good, and the service was always excellent. I hope they reopen in June as they planned. I assume corona virus is the reason they closed. It would be a shame to see Park Ave go by way of the dodo. Today is June 14th. I will keep checking back. My wife and I will be there!

My husband proposed to me at this restaurant near the gardens in 2018, and it holds a special place in our hearts. We hope to return soon, but there have been no updates. I occasionally call the number to check for updates on the voicemail message. When we drive by, we still see a sign that says "coming soon." If there are any updates, could you please reply here? Thank you, we miss you! Service: Dine in. View menu

It looks like he's closed and will not reopen again. I've eaten here 5 times, lunch only. Terrific food, great service. The decor is 50's retro. The sole amandine is easily the best in Orange County. Skirt steak salad, delicious. Great veggies, some from their own garden on site. Chef David Slay is creative while keeping the classic dishes at their best. They have a reasonably good wine list, heavy on California, and light on other producers. A rather strange policy of NO carry in wine.

Very upscale dining experience with a great location and a beautiful setting. I highly recommend that if you have a chance, you go for a walk in the outdoor garden. It is a gem in Stanton. For lunch, I always liked to order the grilled cheese. It came with multiple cheeses, nicely melted, including cheddar, havarti and pepper jack along with a pesto sauce on thick cut bread. It goes very well with a side of fries. The waiters and employees are always very nice and accommodating here. I highly recommend that if you have a chance to dine in here that you do because it's one of my favorite spots in Stanton.

"Our first visit to the restaurant last night came highly recommended, thanks to a friend's glowing review of their vegan menu. We were pretty excited and ordered two vegan meatball subs. The trouble began when we waited for nearly 25 minutes after placing our order. Our server, a guy named Ryan (I think), came over and told us they were all out of vegan meatballs. Naturally, we asked why it took so long for them to figure this out, which seemed to fluster poor Ryan a bit. However, he was polite throughout the conversation. We decided to switch our order to one regular meatball sub and a vegan eggplant sub, thinking all was well. But, surprise, surprise, Ryan returned a few minutes later to tell us they were also out of eggplant. At this point, we had been waiting for almost 40 minutes with no food in sight, so we asked for the check to pay for the soda my husband had been nursing. Here's why the whole experience left a sour taste in our mouths: 1. Why in the world didn't the waitstaff know about these shortages in advance? It seems like basic communication within the restaurant was seriously lacking. Customers shouldn't be left hanging, wondering if they'll actually get what they ordered. 2. It's kind of baffling that Ryan was left to break the bad news not just once, but twice. You'd think the manager, who we saw chatting with other diners just a few feet away, would have taken the initiative to come over and speak to us directly. 3. I was made to feel like I should be really grateful they decided not to charge us for the Diet Coke my husband drank. Overall it was a terrible experience and no effort was made to rectify what happened. I obviously cannot comment on the food since we never recieved any. As for customer service...HORRIBLE!"
