"What Peony Pavilion 2.0 seems to be has arrived and I think it is an improvement. The area now has too many Asian fusion sites and PPs change to a simpler and more ethically deeper menu (e.g. jellyfish, cattle keeping) is welcome. The abandoned sushi bar is not a big loss. They don't all try to please, but they're sure they're happy. However, I can understand why someone who expects PP 1.0 would be disappointed, especially since the menu on OpenTable is no longer active. The one on Weebly is about right with the exception of the sushi. I had the sizzling tofu with red pepper and egg and it was fantastic as the cucumber salad to begin things. Service was friendly and efficient, remembering the old Sunny Garden."

The service was bad. The premises (surfaces) were also illuminated by an earlier night party with scrap. Very unsatisfactory experience.

We have eaten here many times and this last time 11/24 was terrible. Are there new owners? The menu was much less attractive, the service terrible. This went from one of my go to restaurants to one of the worst.Sad to see it. View menu

We visited Peony Pavilion for a group dinner and it was not disappointed. The menu has many items that cannot be found in an American restaurant. The portions were great and we ate them family style. The server was very friendly and knowledgeable. His recommendations were delicious and we will definitely be back!

Thoroughly impressed with the food! Very authentic Chinese dishes that had vibrant and delicious flavor. Got to speak with the owner Lisa as well, her passion for her restaurant was obvious. If it was not for the convo with her, I would have never known that the orange peppers in the Crispy Spicy Chicken we're edible! (And tasted like popcorn!

The soup came out and 30 seconds later do did my food.....well what was I to eat 1st so it didn't get cold? The teapot wss chipped. Server was not pleasant didnt come back to check on me. Just not a great place. View menu

Everything about this restaurant was awful. We waited a half hour for our table even though there were many empty tables available. We had to stop a waiter and ask him to take our order. It took forever for our appetizer to come out while people who arrived 40 mins after us were served their entire meal immediately. We took one bite of the vegetable dumplings and decided to leave the restaurant. A large table next to us told us it was their worst dinner experience ever.

Pro: The food there is very good, and very authentic. We started with Shanghai soup dumplings. For dinner I had braised pork and my husband had the chicken with garlic sauce. Con: The lobby was a mess, some project strewn across the table. The menus had no cover, they looked like pages ripped out of a book, we had to ask for napkins which were paper because they ran out of cloth napkins.. Service was slow, food came slower. It's a shame, the place is beautiful and has so much potential to have some class but I was very disappointed at how unorganized everything was

"Update: 4/10/2022 Came here recently with my wife on our way back from Philly. Hadn’t been here since the pandemic and was pleasantly surprised to see that this place was still here. Ordered the same thing I always do and quality is still good. I’m so glad this little gem of a place is still in business. Prices have gone up a little but so has everything and most restaurants since the pandemic. A hidden gem. Ok, so it’s not one of those fancy Tokyo or New York quality sushi but then again, you’re not paying $500 for dinner (per person) either. I always eat the same thing here — the battered squid dinner plate or lunch, if you’re having it at lunch, with a squid roll and it comes with salad, too. My wife orders the Sushi Boy A or B. It’s a combo plate of such I. And there are lots of other great choices. So far, everyone I’ve taken there, really like the sushi. By the way, my wife is Japanese and she loves sushi (she knows what’s authentic and what’s not). I’ve been to so many of those all-you-can-eat sushi buffet joints where you pay anywhere from $12-20 per person but always end up disappointed. No one would expect to find this place...It’s in a hidden food court surrounded by stores like Gymboree and offices, etc near the Westin hotel in the Princeton Forrestal Village square. While it may be off the beaten path, this place will not disappoint. I’ve been going there for at least 7 years."
