"We visited tonight after work and were so pleased to see all of the cool Halloween decorations! How festive! The place is a favorite for locals, we got there at 6pm and it began to fill up quickly after we arrived. We were seated immediately, and though it took a moment to get our drinks and orders in, it wasn't terribly long. They seemed to be understaffed at the beginning of the shift, but we saw some help come in a little bit later. After they arrived, the staff was a bit more attentive. We ordered Pretzel bites and beer cheese for an appetizer. The waitress let us know that the beer cheese was frozen and could she sub pimento cheese instead? We reluctantly agreed, but what came out was delicious and the best dish of the night. They weren't really pretzel bites, either; rather they were nuggets of bread. For me that was even better! We ordered sandwiches for supper. Everyone scarfed theirs down quickly! I got the Cuban which was well prepared, but the inside was cold and the cheese was not melty. I wish they'd cooked the meats on the flat top a moment to warm them up, but the flavor was there and I'd get it again. The best side we got were the homemade chips and Ranch dressing! We kept our pimento cheese to dip our chips in, too. Out of this world good! I hesitate to mention this because I'm afraid to get them in trouble, but if you are like me it might make your decision to go: they have a restaurant dog. His name is Boomer and he goes from table to table to get his pets from everyone and lays around calmly. Seriously the best part of my night! This is a great tavern, awesome owners and workers and the prices cannot be beaten. Can't wait to go back. See you soon, Boomer!"

I have been going to this place for years. I love Jim and Patricia, but Pop is and was the man of Catawba. Miss him often but Jim is like a chip of the block. Next time you in the area stop in and find out for yourself... great place to unwind and have a great meal.

Great local Cheers bar. Run by a wonderful husband and wife team, the son and daughter-in-law of the original Pops, Wayne Hyatt. Wonderful selection of beverages, both nonalcoholic, mixed drinks, beer and wine. Menu is constantly changing with strong solid staples. Never a bad meal and always exceptional conversation and service. Happy and proud to have them in our community.

Catawba is undergoing a revitalization, and this restaurant is one of the key establishments contributing to the town's charm. We initially intended to visit the soda shop nearby but were directed here for lunch instead. The staff greeted us warmly and seated us right away. I ordered the Pimento Cheese burger with house-made chips, and it was quite enjoyable! As a bit of a pimento cheese connoisseur, I must say the cheese they use isn't the finest quality (think bright orange grocery store versions), but for most people, it will do just fine. The burger was cooked perfectly—not too rare, not overdone. I also have to mention that the chips were delicious, especially with their homemade ranch...
