"After an unpleasant experience consuming 72 ounces of mediocre ramen at Orochon, I found myself swearing off noodle soup altogether. Even the thought of ramen triggered distressing memories. However, the remedy for my post-traumatic stress was a visit to Ramen Yamadaya for their tonkotsu ramen. Frequently hailed as one of the best ramen spots in Los Angeles, the Culver City location often sees long lines stretching out the door. The ambiance of this relatively small restaurant is simple and unpretentious, featuring wooden tables and walls adorned only with ramen-centric decor, including a mission statement that conveys their expertise in the craft. It reminded me, in the best possible way, of Ippudo in New York City, my all-time favorite ramen joint—this place means business. We arrived shortly after opening and were fortunate enough to secure a table in the back right away. We started off with a couple of appetizers and some tea."
