Sol Island Grill - Menu

Love our lil local Sol restaurant! Always great service and food and atmosphere. The fish bowl is my favorite, but everything I've had here has been delicious.

The food at this restaurant is delicious and made with fresh ingredients, and the customer service is excellent. We didn't have to wait long for our dishes, which is a bonus in Athens. I also always appreciate their tasty cocktails.

I had a good experience at Chimi Chicken Bowl, which offered generously-sized portions. However, the chicken was a bit dry. The Maduros were delicious, and the Chicken Strip Basket was excellent. The salty fries were a nice touch, and the guava BBQ sauce complemented the dish perfectly. Overall, it was a very satisfying meal. View menu

This place is just atrocious in every possible way. It has gone downhill so rapidly that it is hard to fathom: tons of order mistakes, rude and incompetent service, disgusting food, poor kitchen hygiene, and a general disposition of utter contempt toward customers. You will be sorry if you order from here, 100% just check out the reviews on other platforms to confirm. Same experience over and over again.

The restaurant had a good selection for vegetarians and vegans. The classic margarita was just okay. We had a large group of 20-25 people, so we understand the challenge of getting food to our table quickly. Unfortunately, my Mexican rice was undercooked, but the BBQ tofu was tasty. I ordered the BBQ tofu bowl and my husband got the Pina Colada tofu bowl, but the rice in both dishes was not cooked properly. It seems like they may have been overwhelmed by our large group.

The iced coffee was delicious at this restaurant. However, the steak salad was not as good. The steak was seasoned well and cooked perfectly, but the salad had an excessive amount of red onion - about 3/4 cup in one serving. I had requested ranch dressing but did not receive it, and the chimichurri dressing added even more onion flavor, which was too overpowering for my taste. There were only two halved grape tomatoes in the entire salad, which was disappointing considering the $17 price tag. Overall, the salad could have been better. View menu

I ordered an iced coffee at this restaurant for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by how great it tasted. However, I was disappointed to find that there were no sizes listed on the menu and that the iced coffee I received was much smaller than I had anticipated. I even called ahead to ask for whipped cream on my coffee, but was disappointed to find only a small amount in the center of the cup. Despite the great taste of the coffee, I was not happy with the portion size especially considering the price I paid for it. I will make sure to order in person next time so that I can choose a larger size.

EDITED BELOW If you want something different, this place it. Typically, everything is good. We go here pretty often. If it was too bad we wouldn 't go that much. The food is really good, and waiters/waitresses are usually nice as well. It 's a nice change to all the normal places. Not sure what 's going on, chef change, management change, other employee change?? We noticed alot of different faces. This place is not what it used to be. The food was less than stellar the last few times we went. The wait staff wasn 't as attentive as before. We 'll try again later, and we hope they make changes. Hate to see one of Athens most unique food choices go by the wayside.

Unfortunately, there was only one server and one cook, so the food took a long time to come out. The Totonos were hard and flavorless, but thankfully they were removed from our bill. The nachos came out with the meal and seemed to have been sitting out for a while. We ordered the special of the day, which included tasty ribs but disappointing side dishes. Our lunch took twice as long because we had to freeze most of it. To make matters worse, they didn't have change when I tried to pay in cash. I had dined at this restaurant 8 years ago and it has definitely gone downhill since then. They were also unable to make a Bloody Mary because there was no bartender on duty. View menu
