"Don’t waste your money here—better off going to Sybil’s on Liberty, or even better, Trincity on Lefferts and 111th Ave. Once you try Trincity, you won’t want to come back here. I’ll be sharing pictures as well. The only thing I might consider returning for is the pastries and bakery items, and even then, only if I were desperate. It’s not about the price, it’s about the quality of the food. I ordered a curry chicken roti—the curry tasted burnt, like the bottom of the pot was scorched and they didn’t bother to fix it. The entire dish left a bad aftertaste. The roti was tough and stiff. The curry shrimp roti was okay in flavor, but they loaded it with potatoes and barely any shrimp, and the shrimp they did use were tiny; photos will show. The dhal puri was also stiff and lacked enough peas—it might as well have been plain bread. The black and white pudding was dry, especially at the edges, which was off-putting. They served it with watered-down tamarind sauce, which didn’t help at all—terrible combination. The cook-up rice was supposed to be vegetarian, but there was one piece of chicken broken up in my order. The pastries need better filling and less crust. The cassava pone was small for the price; Sybil’s on Liberty offers a larger portion for the same cost. I can’t believe I spent money on all this food for my family, and they didn’t even want to eat it. It was a complete waste of money and time, especially dealing with parking there."

I absolutely love the food and service at Sybil's. It has been a popular restaurant in the neighborhood for many years. Their Guyanese Patties are a favorite of mine and I always enjoy serving them at gatherings. Overall, it is a great spot to dine at.

I wouldn’t recommend ordering from Sybil’s Bakery Roti Cafe. It’s not worth it. I paid $18 for an oxtail dish and only got two small, bony pieces. The prices are too high for what you receive. This restaurant is a letdown for the Liberty Avenue neighborhood, and the community deserves much better. Since it was a delivery, I wasn’t able to return this disappointing meal.

Unfortunately wasn't a fan. The best thing I tasted were the beef pies and even those were dry and had a bit of a sour taste. Could be that culturally I'm not used to the food, but I typically am a fan of Roti and other Caribbean fare. I guesswhat I'm saying is take my review with a grain of salt and if people in the community think this place is great, their opinionmight be more valuable than mine. View menu

Their food is excellent but when ordering a large amount, they tend to forget to put some items. I live in NC so when I travel to NY that's when I load up. My order was over $200. So when they forget an item, I can't just go back. Have to wait till nexttrip for them to replace it. They should ship stuff over night. I have not seen a Guyanese restaurant here in NC since I've beenhere and that's 15yrs. So it would be nice if Sybils was down here. Still gonna go there as long as I can.

The service at Sybil's Bakery Roti Cafe deserves a 5-star rating, though the quality and taste of the food can be a bit inconsistent. Overall, it’s generally good. One of my favorites is the dhal puri and fish cake with sour and pepper sauce. I recently visited on a Saturday morning around 8:30 and had the dhal puri made fresh to order—it was piping hot and delicious! I also enjoy their pone, although sometimes it comes out very brown, and other times quite pale. The chicken curry I tried recently was excellent. However, the tripe and chicken cook-up rice was disappointing. The provision and dumpling soup was bland and somewhat sweet, likely due to the ripe plantains. I also love their egg b...

The customer service at this restaurant is very poor, especially over the phone. When I needed to place a large order in advance, the person I spoke to, Moan, insisted that payments had to be made over the phone. I was uncomfortable giving my card information over the phone and questioned why I should trust them with this information. When I expressed my concerns, Moan rudely replied that she didn't know what to tell me. She gave no alternative suggestions, such as paying online (since their website isn't secure) or coming in person to order and pay. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. There are better places in the neighborhood and elsewhere that serve tastier food and treat custome... View menu

Very poor customer service over the phone. Needed to place a large order in advance and Moan(person I spoke too) said, payments has to be made over the phone...Who is willingly giving their card information over the phone and why must I trust you with mycard information? It gets worse... After explaining my comfortably with this process, she proceeded by saying well i don 't knowwhat to tell you rudely. No other suggestions such as paying online (which their website isn 't secure) or coming in to orderand paying in person (you 're welcome). Overall it was a bad experience over the phone. They are much better places within theneighborhood and elsewhere that serves better tasting food and trea...
