"Last time was four stars. Went in for an early dinner about 5:45 Friday, just the two of us. Dreadful music, loud, rapid stacatto beat...not dinner music by any means. Waitress promptly arrived to inquire as to our water preferences. I mentioned the loud music. She smiled pleasantly through her chewing gum. Ordered a $20 glass of wine and got a very short pour, barely three fingers in a classic white wine glass. Bread arrived with a thumbnail sized piece of butter. We laughed. As we waited for our dinner the staff [at the kitchen door] enjoyed a very fun, exuberant conversation with a pal of theirs who had wandered in and lounged against the kitchen entrance door frame. Dinner: Salad: lovely, Soup: not quite hot but tasty, Mussels; lovely; Duck Confit: dry as a bone. And the music remained throughout, overly loud, bouncy not-during-dinner music. Since my guest was an out-of-towner I was, needless to say, embarrassed. I have loved this spot for years; I was terribly disappointed."

We had a great time at this cozy little restaurant. The food and service were fantastic. Each of us in our group of four thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We will definitely be coming back in the future.

I really wanted to like this place but the food lacked oomf. Everything was below par and not to mention expensive. The price was not the issue though had the food been good. The place is extremely crammed but has a cute, cozy vibe. The food really lacked in all aspects, flavor, quality, quantity. The service was great. The octopus was a very small portion and not tender at all. The pan seared duck breast with orange sauce special had a lot of fat. I ended up leaving hungry and had to eat more food when I got home. Small group dinner here on a Saturday night. Definitely make reservations ahead of time as every table was occupied while we were there (always a great sign). Food was incredible. We ordered the Saturday night special and the meat was melting right off the bone. Vegetables were crunchy and flavorful. For dessert we had the earl grey tart and WOW. So fresh and delicious. Great for this group gathering and I also can’t wait to go back with just my partner and I for an intimate dinner. Cannot recommend this place enough!!!

Salmon with greens were absolutely phenomenal. Perfectly grilled to medium rare, with skin so crispy I was amazed and delighted. Paired with Chablis, a wine recommendation by the most professional and sweet waiter. Noticing the bottle cradled in his hands for my viewing as I sampled the wine before accepting, my friends and I were tickled. Service was excellent. Salad was dressed so deliciously that I did not want to leave a morsel behind. A perfect Saturday brunch spot near Central Park in a peaceful neighborhood. My friends ate Avocado Tartine and Eggs Benedict. Both cleaned up their plates like me, and afterwards smiling with satisfaction. I would come back here again!

"We went to Bread N Wine on a early Saturday afternoon for brunch. We were greeted and seated by the servers who were attentive. The food was okay the bread was really soft and fresh. My partner got the French Lentil Soup, Spinach and Tomato Egg Bake andI got the French onion soup, egg omelette with spicy tomato avocado and onions. I wasn 't happy with my omelette because thespicy just meant it was covered in hot sauce within. For beverages, we got chai lattes (we later found out it wasn 't tea basedbut rather coffee) and we had the option of oat milk, almond milk or regular milk. In terms of our overall experience we feltby the end too many things were steering the experience south; the worst was when we were accused of using counterfeit money topay for the tip. There was no special marker used to prove that the money was counterfeit or technology to back up this claim. That experience alone left a bad taste in our mouth as we left embarrassed by that claim, kind of shook from that, we stilladded the tip to our credit card 18%. As we walked out and talked about how weird that was, the owner of the business nextdoor overheard us and asked to see the $20 bill he showed us that our money was real and validated what we knew, that themoney wasn 't counterfeit. When we went back into Bread N Wine to discuss this there was no apology, just well, it felt thatway , shrug. It left a terrible feeling. We would not go back after that, this is not how you treat customers from start tofinish, hence the 2 star review."
