This was our first visit, and we definitely plan to return. We loved the entertainment and the staff was amazing.

Fantastic hospitality in a place that is upscale yet as comfortable as an old pair of slippers. Great place to meet up with friends, maybe as a launch point for the rest of your evening.

I took my wife to Tannin for the final stop on our date night. I was very impressed by the selection, the quality, they service/staff, and the cleanliness! We will definitely return, and invite guests! Perhaps next time I will get photos to share. View menu

The appetizers were fantastic! The goat cheese spread paired with crackers and salmon was delicious. The atmosphere was wonderful, and the staff were great. I tried the Italian soda and highly recommend the lemon flavor. My friends really enjoyed the wines as well.

The atmosphere was very relaxing. The staff members who attended to us were incredibly friendly, which is always a nice touch when visiting a new place. Although we only stayed for a few hours, we would definitely consider coming back in the future. The food was also quite delicious!

Val always ensures that our experience is enjoyable. Tonight's service was exceptional. We celebrated my husband's birthday, and while he took a break from his meal, Val surprised him with birthday cookies, and the entire room sang him happy birthday. What a wonderful experience! At Tannin, you will probably be welcomed by owners Mary and Ray Curley or one of their well trained, very friendly staff members. Start with a glass of wine, of course, and pair it with a ciabatta bread board, cheese board or my personal favorite: Crostini garnished with quark (like a soft and creamy cream-cheese, only better), fig and prosciutto. This is Mary and I. I love this place and I love her!

We absolutely love this place! We feel so fortunate to have it in Marshalltown! We recently visited a popular cheese spot in Des Moines, and we believe the cheese boards at Tannin are even better. We had a lovely experience in a calm atmosphere, but then trivia began and it really livened up. Next time, I’m definitely staying for trivia! (Though I also appreciate having a quiet enough space for two people to chat without raising our voices). Thank you, Tannin!

Lively and warm, like a party in a country wine cellar, Tannin is one of those places you instantly fall in love with. With live music filling the air, smiles and laughter spread through the room. A thoughtful and varied selection of wine, is complemented by a menu of craft beers sure to quench your thirst for something different. The locals love it as regulars are abundant, and its easy to understand why. The entire staff will make you feel like you've been coming there for years on your first visit.
